Tons of my friends have had the same bad luck and noticed the counter teaming too so I'm certain that is a thing that happens in the Maison. After all the final trainer teams will stay the same, but the trainers you have to make your way through to get to them won't, meaning they can easily change their Pokémon to counter yours.

It's true. Noticing the counter strategies is very easy, I remember when I was up against a Latios that had Thunder which somehow hit every time plus my team didn't match up well with it at all.

Yesterday I recall having my Mega Altaria up against a team entirely of Poison-types. It must have known she gains Poison weakness when she Mega Evolves so the trainer must have tried to prepare herself for it. I do at least use her as a secret weapon for breezing past early trainers before forfeiting at tougher ones solely so I can collect the BP I had gotten leading up.

Or you know, you could have a Pokemon that should be able to take Altaria's weaknesses/switch into Poison-type attacks and take them without worrying about it. Didn't you have any Steel-type Pokemon with you? An important part of teambuilding is making sure each and every member of your team is accounted for by another Pokemon and every team member covers each other's backs. n_n Of course, this is made more difficult since you have 3 Pokemon instead of 6, but it's still manageable. If the opponent's Pokemon are all one type, that just makes it easier for you if you have a Pokemon that does super well against that type.

The fact you're restricted to 3 Pokemon makes it all that much harder when it comes to competitive team building. You have to rely on stuff with good move coverage.

The only times I played in the Battle Maison was when I wanted to get 50 consecutive battles in Singles in both X and OR. Last time I used the tried and true Truant Durant strategy, which is slow, but effective. Otherwise 3vs3 battles can be too much of a hassle, it's one of the reasons why I never liked playing Singles on Battlespot. Maybe I should look into Doubles at some point, because it looks rather interesting.

Brendan was not my rival what are you guys talking about

Steven is still my favorite character. I love his insight and his role as eventually being the strongest trainer in the game.

I dislike what they had done to Wallace in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, haha. His former design made him seem more of a luxurious, experienced, and understanding individual, at least in some form of capacity, and to me, his newer appearance kind of took that away.

I know for sure May was one of my fave redesigns in OR/AS. She got like way more cuter compared to her original design, also that bow on her head is a nice change of pace compared to all those hats the other protagonists tend to wear.

Funny thing is I liked May's in game character design better than any of her art for OR/AS. They did a great job with that design though, even though the art wasn't that great IMO.

To be honest, I really wasnt sure what was going on with Brendan's hair/hat, I don't think I really cared much :P

I do admit Brendan was one of the more interestingly designed male protagonists, but for some reason I love all the females better because they are more diverse in design and it also helps that I'm female myself.

Wait, why are we talking about my hat?

To be honest, I always thought it was a hat from the beginning, and only started having doubts once I saw people online say it was his hair. The back sprite showed that he had the same color hair as Norman below the headband though, so I just remained convinced it was a hat.

Norman was the toughest for me my first time playing. Slaking just killed everything I had and I couldn't take it out in between when it was slacking off either.

Norman is easy as long as any of your pokémon know Protect (Aron or Pelipper, for example). All you have to do then is use Protect when his Slaking attacks and poke it until it gives up when it's not. If you can't/don't want to use that strategy then I can imagine it to be hard though.

^ Yeah for the most part the earlier leaders weren't too difficult. I remember Flannery being a bit tough with Overheat but she wasn't too bad. I'd imagine Wattson would've been death if I didn't have Combusken on RSE, and I had to make do with a Rock Smashing Gulpin and Echo Voice Tailow/Swellow (can't remember) to take care of him in ORAS.
