News: Pokémon Sun and Moon E3 Footage (New Pokémon and more!)

i mean cmon are you blind? its oras..... with slightly better pokemon (they are not that pixelated at the frames... i couldnt understand it anyways, why every pokemon is so pixle-weak at his borders...)

Ive play Hyrule Warriors on 3DS and also Xenoblade only for new 3ds and the 3ds can go way better....this still looks like oras imho!

yea bottom screen is really awesome, since i have better shit in mind, that pokemon type effectivnesses and i know alot of people dont like invest energy "studying" for a game. im studying way too much anyways atm....

So, I dont see it ruining the game. if you know all type effectifies of 720 (+ alola pokemon) then it wouldnt bother you anyways mhm?.... ;-)

Did you notice that this is the first time Ledyba's pokedex entry states that the patterns on their backs differ slightly from each other?

None of it's pokedex entries in the past have mentioned that. I wonder if that means the patterns on the back of Ledyba will have differences or if that was just filler fluff.

Pokedex entries don't always indicate in-game mechanics of a Pokemon, and I know Ledyba don't have any different patterns. The spots all seem to look the same if you ask me.

I don't know about that. It doesn't look like ORAS at all to me. From what I have seen, the graphics are a lot better in Sun and Moon. I even go as far to say it looked better than the new Link Game on the WiiU

id go that far saying it looks like pokemon stadium (2 - if im bein positive) for the n64... and im at least expecting wii graphics for a handheld that strong (new 3ds).. hyrule warriors 3ds f.e pwns away every single wii graphic imho on the

Edit: oh... too make it clear, im talking about graphis in battle! you cant say there isnt a pixle-ass frame around every single pokemon!

It looks like OrAs to me too. Hopefully they'll fix the frame drops from Gen VI at least.

Btw, not sure if you caught this, but in the E3 play through they were playing the game on the New 3DS, so there doesn't seem to be a graphical improvement, maybe for the third version.

Graphics, angles, scenes. They all look better to me. And I am looking at pre release screen shots for both ORAS and Sun and Moon. The only thing that hasn't changed is the pokemon during battles. Those are the same models.

The angles, and the lack of chibis are the most noticable differences.

just look at this ropes https://www.serebii.net/treehouse6.jpg

does this look polished too you, at all??
its official to me.... oras part 2....in alola...still awesome, but sad that it isnt a graphical joy i really expected it, since i already expected x/y and oras to be way more graphically advanced. (im talking about in battle graphics all the time)

a quad core hand held cant make straigt lines? wtf? the gameboy color could...(almost lol) but nds certainly did... whats the problem with GF ? i cant understand why they dont really polish it...

I think that the reason it doesn't look straight is because they likely wanted all the Pokemon on-screen at once, and if you leave the 3DS alone it'll likely rotate around the scene and zoom up on the Pokemon like 6th Gen had.

They said the games were still under development. I doubt they are completely done yet. They don't create game to favor the newer models because a lot of people still don't even have a 2DS or 3DS. Let alone the newer models. A lot of people didn't even get a 3DS until the Pokemon Games first came out. So why would they upgrade when they don't need to.

And to be fairly honest, the games looks fine to me. I really don't see a problem with it. It might be because I have never paid attention to small graphic details such as straight lines.

I know that. I just thought it was notable that they were mentioning this for the first time.

and really...it's one thing to say that a Pokemon can peck 16 times in a second, but it's something else to say something about it's physical appearance.

Granted the pokedex entry only said the pattern was slightly different, so maybe it's just a microscopic difference. :P

The info was really good! They certainly delivered! Loved the new pokemon and the gameplay is shaping to be my favorite in the series so far. Battle royal is great and I love the island legends. This makes me think that we will encounter the legendary in the cut scene before we get our pokemon. I wonder where though.

The 3DS screen resolution is likely at least 4 times less than the computer screen or phone you're looking at that on, it's only natural that the outlines of the models are going to be fairly indistinct when zoomed-out and rendering in a cartoon style. The game is still built for 2DS/original 3DS which is a dual-core system (with part or all of the 2nd core reserved for the system OS) and a fairly cost-effective GPU (more important in this case) from 2011.
The in-battle models are already more than detailed enough as-is, making XY/ORAS very nice looking 3DS games in the battle sequences - you see few visible polygon edges, okay texture resolution and a great shader that emulates the game's illustration style. S/M already has improvements as you can see the trainer's models alongside the Pokémon and some more impressive battle backdrops.

The bottom screen improvements are incredibly delicious. No more looking at Bulbapedia for type effectiveness against those random dual types.

As someone who still doesn't remember all of the type chart even years playing the game, I'm totally fine too. also as someone who still doesn't remember all of the type chart even years playing the game, I'm totally fine too. As the others said also there's too many moves to remember too, haha.

The other new info are pretty cool too. The new Pokemon look near and while I think I'll need to get used to Battle Royale I think it'll be a new fun feature.

Beyond thrilled by what I saw yesterday. There has yet to be a new Pokemon that I just don't like the design of. The GUI looks great, and the added Pokeball option on the bottom screen is something I have asked for since Diamond and Pearl. That said, I do hope there is some way that we are able to disable the move effectiveness hints. This feature is great for bringing newer players into Pokemon, but I am afraid it might make some of us lazy.
Perhaps the most interesting feature is the ability to glance at stat changes at any time. As a VGC player, I hope this feature will be supported in VGC matches, since note-taking on stats is often annoying.

I didn't notice it until now, but this Tumblr user seemed to point out during the livestream footage that we could be going back to 5th Gen EXP mechanics: https://corvusatrox.tumblr.com/post/146098989085/so-apparently-there-are-rumors-going-around-that

So if this is true, we could still have the Exp. Share affect the whole team like in 6th Gen but when it comes to the actual EXP gain we could be going back to the difficult grinding method due to reduced EXP gain as your level gets higher, like in the 5th Gen games.

6th Gen's Exp. Share was often complained at for making XY/ORAS "too easy" due to the fact every Pokemon gained the full experience (or half if they didn't take part in the battle) so modifying it to go back to EXP gain scaled based on level difference is probably going to provide more challenge since it'll be hard to grind. Hopefully we get a method similar to 5th Gen's Audino hunting if this were to be the case because otherwise it'll be very hard to train without a Lucky Egg.

I'd really like for them to return to the Gen V Exp mechanics, something about it just felt more realistic? As for the Exp. Share then I'd totally support a revert to pre-gen VI style. I never really used the new Exp. Share in X/Y so that the games would feel more difficult, obviously though others did and that was the downfall in terms of difficulty for the Kalos games. By reverting back to the old mechanic it would eliminate the ease of gaining EXP and hopefully reduce the number of complains about making the games easier. Perhaps gen VI was testing the waters for this new Exp. Share method and then seeing the feedback as I'm pretty sure Game Freak does take into consideration the reaction to new mechanics.

There's the prospect they could still leave it as affecting the whole team while reverting back to previous gens' EXP gain. That would be what I call a good balance between 6th Gen Exp. Share and the previous gens' EXP distribution.

I didn't even noticed that they were different. No wonder even when I wasn't using the Exp. Share in Omega Ruby (unlike I did in Y) it still felt easy to level up my team compared to Gen V.

im not a fan of two of the new ones
