So you saw," Chromos commented, making Dash sweat. "No harm then! Good luck in your life!"

Oh thank god. Dash managed to dodge a bullet there. He could of sworn he would have gotten in trouble. Like big trouble. Chromos began to walk away, appearing to leave his bike behind. He didn't get far before stopping.

"You!" a woman's voice called. Chromos paused and looked up, and becoming visibly pale like before. You still haven't delivered the package yet? Late. But I'll just take it immediately then." Chromos had not covered enough distance to make Dash unable to hear the conversation, picking up every other word fairly well. He slowly inched closer to Chromos and the woman, guaranteeing that would more clearly hear every word. It seemed they were talking about the package, so far as Dash was concerned, he was allowed to know what was going.

Chromos blinked frenetically. "No, not this one! It was the wrong package, they got mixed up acciden-"

"Oh really? It so happens that I know what should be inside. Can I have a look?"

"No! Absolutely not! Who are you? This was supposed to be sent to B-"

"I'm with him," the woman said seriously. The woman looked like a ninja which was kind of awkward. Her outfit vaguely reminded him of Koga. Was that his daughter…what was her name? Oh its not important.

"I don't believe you!"

"It'll make your job easier if you just hand me the package now."

"This package is only going to the original addressant!"

"This package?"

"Yes!"

"The one you're holding now?"

"Do you see any other package laying around?!"

"Didn't you just say... that this was the wrong package?"

Chromos blinked as the woman leaned forward with a malicious smile. "Oh," he managed to say before she pulled the package out of his hands.

"That will be all," she said and started walking up to the PokéMart's doors. Behind her, a fuming Chromos clenched his fists. What he was thinking right now was anyone's guess.

Nabooru piped in: "Uh, is it too late that this reminds me of a fairy tale? Once upon a time, there was a starfish who had a secret box. Then, a sponge went over and asked, 'hey! what's in the secret box?' But, the starfish wouldn't tell him. So, the sponge devised a plan to sneak into the starfish home, and steal the box. However, the starfish found out, but decided to show the sponge inside the box anyway. And you know what? The sponge found out it was just a string. The End!" She then chuckled as she turned to Chromos. "Is... everything going to be okay, Mr. Chromos?"

"That story sounds familiar," Dash said. "I like that one. It strangely fits this scenario. Hey, lady! Where the hell do you think you are going with Chromos' package?" Dash was a bit annoyed, but mostly because he didn't exactly understand what was going on.

"Is... everything going to be okay, Mr. Chromos?" Nabooru asked and almost made Chromos jump. He hadn't paid attention to her little story, he had had his mind filled about other, more urgent things.

"Um, I..."

"Hey, lady! Where the hell do you think you are going with Chromos' package?" Dash asked the ninja woman in an annoyed voice. That made the woman stop in her tracks before she had entered the PokéMart, and turn around and raise an eyebrow at the boy.

"I'm going to let the cashier know that the package arrived safely and... and that I'll be taking care of it now instead of those unreliable Pidgeotto mailmen."

Chromos finally found words. "She's stealing the package! It contained an important item for the lab! Thief! Take it back from her!"

Janine frowned. Before Nabooru or Dash could do anything though, she took out a pokéball and let out a pokémon. It was a huge spider that hissed menacingly at the kids. An Ariados, fiercely red.

"It's better if you just leave things as they are," Janine told them and then shot dark glance at Chromos. "And you will be dealt with. In time."

Chromos gulped and waved his arms. "Do something!" he yelled at the kids.

Chloe Evergreen VS Viking Steinhart

- Viridian City-

VS
[PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon VR: Game of Chance (IC)

The Supersonic waves came through the air and hit the Staryu. They also hit Viking, who had to hold his hands over his ears in order to remain stable; these sound waves seemed to affect his balance a bit. He looked at his pokémon. How could someone who hadn't even got ears be affected by an attack like that? But then again, Ask heard his commands. It had to had a sound sense somewhere.

"Rapid Spin!"
he ordered. Ask jumped up into the air and started spinning around. Then it rapidly propelled itself towards the Chinchou... but missed! Luckily, instead of running into something else and harming itself, Ask flew through the air like a boomerang and tried to win over the confusion, coming towards the Chinchou from behind.

Chloe had felt relieved that Staryu missed its attack and was watching the pokemon go past her, but somehow the pokemon managed to endure the confusion and was heading towards Volt. She had to act quick and use something to deflect the water pokemon. " My only long range attack is……." She was thinking to herself. " Guess I have no other choice. Volt use Bubble attack!" she shouted as Staryu was approaching. Volt turned around and released a pile of bubbles that went straight for Staryu. However the bubbles just popped due to the sharp edges of the pokemon and went straight into Volt knocking him back at Xander's feet.

"Voooolt!"
Chloe shouted seeing the pokemon get hit, clenching her fist as hard as she could. " Water attacks are useless against their type. " Chloe said closing her eyes as her pokemon fell on the ground. " Chin Chinchou!" her pokemon cried as it got up brushing off the dust off its head. Chloe opened her eyes and saw that the pokemonw as looking at her. Somehow her pokemon was more confident than her and helped her to calm down a bit.

Ask landed and got an approving grin from Viking. At least the Staryu interpreted it as being meant for him; in reality Viking was grinning towards his opponent. But Ask felt praised just from that.

"Water Gun!"
he said. The gray star's blue gem glimmered as the pokémon powered up. It then shot five portions of hard water bullets towards Chloe's pokémon.

Chloe was watching as the bullets were approaching at great speed towards Volt, which had just recovered from a previous attack. He had to dodge them somehow as even thought they were just water attacks, five at a time would deal some damage. " Volt use Flail to defend!!! " she yelled in the last minute as a spur of the moment gave her an idea. As the water bullets were about to hit Volt, he smacked them every last bullet down with his anglers, making the water spread all round the place.

" Nice!" she said seeing that the last water bullet went down. " Now use Flail again!" she followed up. Volt knew that this next attack was meant for Staryu, so he dashed towards Viking's pokemon hoping to land its attack.

The use of Flail took Viking by surprise. Things didn't work quite like in the games here. Moves could be used in inventive ways, offensive moves could even be made defensive... maybe it could be the other way around as well?

"Harden!" he shouted to Ask, who's body suddenly gleamed as its skin hardened to several times its previous strength. Volt made impact and flailed about with its anglers and fins. Ask staggered backwards, but held up fine enough with the help of its Harden attack. Thankfully, Volt didn't seem to be hurt enough yet to be able to deliver a devastating enough Flail attack. But that was a warning for Viking, who now knew that the Chinchou could be dangerous if they dragged out on the battle.

"Rapid Spin!" he ordered again, hoping Ask could hit hard and swift enough.

However Chloe had other things in mind, she was starting to get the hangs of things despite thinking that she was doing bad. Seeing as Viking's pokemon had several fast attack she had to somehow stop the pokemon in its tracks.

" Thunder Wave attack now! " she shouted seeing Staryu ready to launch its attack. Volt stored power in its anglers and released a charge of electricity that surged right towards Staryu, with some help of the water that remained from the previous water attack.

"Darn!" Viking let out. He had forgotten about Chinchou being both Water and electric type! The Thunder Wave hit Staryu easily and made it fall down to the ground before it hit the opponent. It was paralyzed!

"Can you move?" Viking asked his pokémon, who got up and wriggled a little to the side, apparently having some trouble doing it.

"Worthless," Viking mumbled. Then he clenched his fists. "You can still shoot though, you don't need to move much for that. Water Gun!" The Staryu immediately fired its water gun straight at Chinchou again. Viking was starting to get angry. He couldn't lose against this scaredy cat girl! Why hadn't he been given a stronger starter pokémon? He should have used the Charmander against Chloe... but she was a fire type pokémon. It wouldn't have worked either. Darn it!

Chloe was pleased to see that Staryu was now immobilized and couldn't use that darn Rapid Spin any time soon. Chloe could see that the Viking, which was grinning at her, now was getting restless and frustrated. But he wasn't going to give up so easily. Staryu managed to launch another water bullet straight for Volt.

"That wasn't supposed to happen! "
she said biting her lip as Volt didn't have time to dodge and was knocked down by the stream of water. " I should've trainer more!!!" she was thinking as her eyes were switching between Volt and Staryu, fearing another water attack.

"Chinchou!!!!" the pokemon cried as he got back up on his feet. He let her trainer know that he wasn't ready to give up yet. Chloe took a deep breath and exhaled. " Ok I won't give up too. " she said quietly to herself. " Volt use Flail with all your strength!" she said toward her partner which immediately dashed towards the paralyzed Staryu.

"Harden!"
Viking shouted. It was all he could do now, unless he did like with the Rattata before and stepped in and kicked his opponent with his own limbs. But you were probably not allowed to do that in a trainer battle...

Volt Flailed all over Ask and despite the double Harden Attack, the Staryu simply wasn't strong enough to withstand it all. The Chinchou was injured as well, but that only strengthened this attack. After a few moments, during which Viking's temper reached its peak, Ask fell over and landed upside down on its gem. Fainted. Volt seemed to be panting and be really tired as well, but it was still standing. Viking had lost.

He didn't say anything. He just stared at Chloe. "Never..." Rosa always restarted from the last saved game whenever she lost a match in the pokémon games. She never let any NPC white her out.

Reluctantly, Viking sent Ask back into its pokéball. Then he marched up to Chloe, not waiting for her to say anything or even take her own pokémon back into its pokéball. Viking stood really close and stared with narrowing eyes into her very green ones. "You are a human player. Aren't you."

Chloe couldn't believe her eyes, despite all her doubt in her abilities she managed to stand her ground against the lad and moreover, to win. She stood there motionless looking at how Viking called back his fainted Staryu. " I still can't believe my eyes." she mumbled as she averted his eyes to Chinchou which was breathing hard but still managed to have a big smile on his face. She wanted to go to him, to hold her pokemon and get him inside the center as it got pretty hurt in the battle but couldn't as Viking had walked up to her as soon as he called Staryu back and was suspicious of her origins.

She walked past him, and run towards her pokemon. " You were great out there. Let's get you healthy again. " Chloe said calling Chinchou back into his pokeball, but not before the pokemon managed to hug her trainer with his anglers. Then Chloe got up and turned her head towards Viking who was looking at her. " Keeping my identity a secret won't help me find a way back home and as long as I'm with my pokemon I'll manage somehow. " she thought to herself before replying to Viking's inquiry.

" Y-yes I am…and I presume you are too as you know of humans. " she finally spoke then turned back and walked into the center as she didn't have time to chat with her pokemon injured. She could chat plenty after Volt was ok. " Sorry but chatting will have to wait a bit. " she said as she entered through the sliding doors.

Viking remained in the street, looking after her even after the sliding doors had shut again. Another human... who admitted it. And he had lost to her. Well, he snickered, that's good news. Means a NPC didn't beat me after all. And here I had just been guessing.

It took a moment, but eventually Viking entered the pokémon center after Chloe. He walked silently up to the counter and let Ask he healed in the machine. It went quickly. Then he asked for a room and got the answer that it was available for a trainer with a pokédex. Without even a frown, the white haired trainer took up his pokédex and let the nurse inspect it. When all was well, he was giving a keycard that would unlock one of the rooms on the upper floor. Just when he was about to go up the escalator though, he stopped and closed his eyes for a second. And just felt.

He wasn't tired. At all, actually. And he wasn't hungry either, even though he hadn't eaten for the whole day. That was really strange, but he guessed that it was how the game worked. Come to think of it, the player's character in the old games had never been hungry or needed sleep either. Not even when there was a day / night system implemented. Like now. He looked out one of the big windows on the bottom floor. The evening and the lack of tiredness made him moody. The part of him that still knew that it was a girl named Rosa crept forth and made him sink deep into his thoughts.

He thought about Azure. And Violet. He had been sure that they were real humans just like him. Where was Azure now? At this late hour. And Violet... was she in one of the rooms in the pokémon center? He thought he remembered her saying that she wanted to rest here as well. That was before he had battled Chloe. Speaking of which...

He looked up and around. She had admitted being human... did she know a way out of the game? Viking had thought before that he didn't care about getting out. He was Viking! He would win the game. But now he lost against another human... he felt like he needed to talk to her. While hiding his softie thoughts, of course.

At this point, it was probably worth mentioning that Dash, even in his state of lacking wisdom, was becoming slowly aware that he was getting involved in things he didn't understand. The ninja woman had taken the package and appeared to have the intent of delivering herself to…someone. Dash didn't catch any name at any point. Regardless, something big was going on and Dash couldn't wrap his head around it. At least not yet.

"She's stealing the package! It contained an important item for the lab! Thief! Take it back from her!"

Dash's eyes narrowed. "Definitely looks like a thief to me." Dash was ready to tackle the thief at this point, but with a frown she summoned forth a Pokemon. An Ariados. A big red spider. Dash hated spiders. They always made him feel uncomfortable. If he had the capability, Dash would love to stomp it out of existence. Bugs are disgusting. Even the virtual kind.

"It's better if you just leave things as they are," the woman told them before shooting a glare at Chromos. "And you will be dealt with. In time." Those words even freaked Dash out a bit. At least they weren't directed at him.

Chromos gulped and panicked. "Do something!" he yelled, moving Dash and Nabooru to action.

"Yeah, yeah. I'll do something. Though I don't see what is the big deal about a funny looking rock," Dash said brushing off Chromos and the thief. Regardless of the situation, Dash wasn't about to stand down and let some ninja lady with a scary spider stop him. Dash walked up and eyed the spider directly. "You aren't that scary," Dash said flicking its head, probably angering the evil thing. Then with a nervous expression, he took a poke ball out from his belt and threw it out towards the spider. Out from the light came his Mudkip, who stood ready for battle. "Use Mud-slap!" Dash ordered. With a stern expression, the Mudkip kicked up some mud and flung it at the Ariados.

Dash, not paying attention if the attack hit or not (as it was used primarily as a distraction and to focus the anger of the spider towards Mudkip long enough to leave its master and allow Dash to handle her), jumped forward and focused his attention on the thief, lunging forward hoping to tackle her to the ground long enough to take the package away from her. Hopefully, she would be taken by surprise and the tackle would work. After all, Dash figured he was about 20% faster than her. Not a master tactician by any stretch, Dash lacked a Plan B, so everything was riding on Plan A to work.

Before Viking came back into the pokemon center Chloe had already had Volt checked up and asked for a room to spend the night. She was standing at the window, leaning her elbows on the frame as she looked outside into the darkness of the city. It was peaceful and quiet, few people still wandering outside. Volt was down at her feet stretching with his anglers, trying to grab the frame so he could have a look for himself. Feeling something at her feet Chloe looked down and giggled. " You should have just said something. " taking him up and putting him down next to her. The pokemon responded with a goofy face then started gazing at the city. Chloe raised her head and looked at the starts that were shining so bright around the moon. " It's been a day full of unexpected events. " she said to Volt patting him on the head. " But strangely I don't feel nor tired or hungry. "

Indeed it was too strange, Chloe retraced her steps today and realized that she hadn't eaten or drunk anything. "Could this be an effect from the game? " she wondered as a gentle wind embraced her face. This new world was interesting indeed…..it had a lot of advantages, being a pokemon trainer, no need for food, drinks or rest. But then what were the disadvantages to all this? There had to be some?

" All this thinking is making my head hurt. " she blurted out walking away from the window. Volt wanted to hop on the bed but nearly missed it by a few inches. " Volt! Care for a walk around the center before going to sleep? " Yes, despite the fact that she wasn't tired and didn't need sleep, Chloe didn't want to forget about her human traits. She left her bag on the chair next to her bed and then went to the door and opened slowly the door. Too her surprise on the other side of her door, sitting in front of the opposite room was no other that Viking, the with haired boy she had battled earlier.

"Hi again! " she said for Viking barely to hear. Chloe's shy nature was showing up again, now that she knew that he was a human too. Even so, she had to at least greet him, she was shy not rude.

The boy with the rainbow hair suddenly sent out a little Mudkip, who threw a splat of mud in Ariados' face. Janine was a ninja. She was used to sudden movements. But this distracted her, long enough to not see that the boy was closing in on her until he was inches away...

THUMP!

Both Janine and the boy fell over; the woman had only managed to squirm a little to the side but still lost her balance. How could she be surprised so easily, despite her training? The torn package fell out of her hands, bounced... and the stone fell out. Janine's eyes widened, where she lay on the street beside the boy with the colorful hair, propping herself up with her elbows.

"A stone? But... there should be..."

That was when Chromos had run forward and grabbed the stone with a triumphant smile.

"Ariados!" Janine yelled.

Her pokémon had managed to get most of the mud out of its face. It now turned and immediately fired a String Shot towards the man. He gasped as the stone in his hands was enveloped in the sticky strings and pulled out of his grip. It came to a stop underneath the poisonous fangs of the spider pokémon.

Janine got up from the ground and... offered a hand to help the rainbow haired boy up as well. "I told you to leave things as they were," she said, a little grumpily. "Seems I have to involve you, to make you understand. I had suspicions that he was a... bad guy, when I saw him walking away from the PokéMart with the package." She pointed at the man in the lab coat. "We knew there was a spy connected to the Oak Lab somehow."

"Spy! How dare you!" Chromos said, clenching his fists.

"Hi again!" a weak voice said and Viking realized that Chloe had walked out right in front of him. He blinked. There she was. She looked just like all the other people in the game. Just as alive. Or just as program-y.

"Chloe," he said. He was still a bit reluctant to actually reveal that he was a human. But she knew. She already knew. "Why are you playing this game? How did you get here?"

He spoke quieter than he usually did. It might be because of the defeat earlier. It might be because it was night. Not even Rosa ever spoke this quietly and controlled.

After Dash's Mudkip went toe to toe with Janine's Ariados, there was then a point of time where the package was felled out of Janine's hands, and fell on the ground, ripped. Then, out came a stone.

"What...?" Nabooru thought. So there was a stone in it after all? But what kind of stone is this?

That was when Chromos had run forward and grabbed the stone with a triumphant smile.

AzureRockets
Viridian City
Chapter II, Part IV

[PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon VR: Game of Chance (IC)
[PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon VR: Game of Chance (IC)

A bit more grinding with Merry later, Azure and her lackeys emerged from Route 22 back to Viridian City, battered, bruised, sweaty and quite smelly. Pip had given up entirely (Azure did have to point out to herself that he had fainted during her battle with that weirdo so she couldn't insult him that much) and was now resting almost comfortably in Azure's hands. The words 'Viridian City' shone above her in the night sky as she crossed the imaginary border, reminding herself that this was not a reality, but a game. She had to keep pinching herself. As real as it felt, Azure could not lose herself here. As much as she wanted to.

But that wasn't the important thing right now. She needed a show-- wait, what? She did the extremely lady-like 'smelling of the underarms' to find she wasn't smelly any more and her clothes were back to perfect condition. Hm. Well, in the games you didn't need to shower. Her Pokémon still looked like crap, so onwards to the Pokémon Centre she went.

As she stepped inside, she immediately recognised the white dredlocks of that stupid tutorial, talking to someone else. Aw, what was he doing here? Was there another stupid test she had to go through that she would probably fail because this guy was a massive tool? No, no, she kept walking, right past him pretending not to notice him and went straight to the counter.

"Welcom--"

"Cut the sweet talk lady, I just need my hobbits healed," Azure said rudely. The nurse didn't object, taking Pip and Merry and their respective PokéBalls and disappearing for 30 seconds, reappearing with two PokéBalls and a bright smile on her face. Azure released her hobbits as soon as they were in her hands.

"Thank you! We hope to s--"

"What a terrible thing to say in a hospital," Azure narrowed her eyes. "Shame on you." The nurse did nothing but smile. Wait, so, NPCs could be messed with? Great! Next time she saw Cliff, she would make sure to tell him what a stupid little kid he was (though he was technically older than Azure) and Viking? What a jerky jerk! As a human being, she felt obligated to wait for him to stop talking but as a trainer who was growing sick of the blandness of the Pokémon Centre (and growing quite lonely around people who weren't quite people, but she would never admit that), she danced forward, thrusting a finger at Viking, interrupting his conversation as loudly as she could.

"You!" she made sure to actually prod the white dredlocks. Then, she lifted Pip of the ground and pushed him next to his face. "See? I caught a Pokémon without your dumb help. See? And you hair is disgusting. And you!" she pointed at the person standing next to Viking. "I don't know who you are but," Azure hesitated, having no idea what to say. She didn't want to be deliberately mean, not like the girls she knew from high school, but... "GAARHGGHhdhnfnddbb. There!" She exhaled and stomped off to a table to sit with her hobbits. She hadn't gone this long without talking to anyone real before. Even when she was locked in her room, she still had her internet friends.

As much of an introvert she was, Azure (and Bronwyn) had begun to feel quite lonely.

Janine studied the long haired girl for a moment. She seemed... naive. Well Janine knew that she usually judged people too easily so she would try not to, at this time. But the question posed to the suspected impostor was filled with a hurt seriousness. Janine's eyes grew dark as she turned to the man to see how he would respond.

"I..." He seemed to really try to say something... believable. That was at least Janine's impression. But at last, the attempt failed and the person broke out into a wicked smile.

"I told them it was a bad idea to station me as a spy," he muttered, making the ninja blink and assume a battle position. Ariados reacted when its trainer did, and made sure that the Mudkip from before wasn't in its way if it had to attack the man in front of them swiftly.

"I like sneaky business, but it usually doesn't involve being an impostor. Hehehe." Chromos lifted his head and corrected his glasses on his nose. "Time's up, it seems. They won't be happy, but I'll make due. So, seems it's time for my ticket out of here."

"Are you working for the Team Rocket Company? Answer me!" Janine yelled quickly. "Ariados!" The bug prepared to fire its String Shot to take down the man, but he pulled up a pokéball of his own before that. What exactly emerged from it couldn't be seen, because the very instant the energy coming out of the pokéball started to take shape, Chromos shouted a command.

"Teleport!"

"No!" Janine shouted and lounged forward. "Poisong Sting!" Ariados took a surprisingly long jump forward but... landed on the empty street. Chromos was gone.

"Darn!" Janine said, but then closed her eyes for a moment to calm down. Then she turned back to the kids. A rainbow haired guy - that was odd, wasn't it? Something told her that it was odd - and a girl with long red pigtails and some kind of armor - wasn't that weird as well? What were these feelings... She took the Sun Stone from Ariados and examined it.

Chloe didn't have time to answer, before someone else suddenly stormed in. "You!"

Viking turned his head only to find a finger really point at him, even prodding the dreadlocks that hung down in front of his ear. His eyes followed the finger, up an arm, a shoulder and... "Oh, lord," he muttered when he saw a very, very agitated Azure stand in front of him.

She lifted a pokémon of the ground and pushed it next to his face. "See? I caught a Pokémon without your dumb help. See?" Viking's eyes widened with a bit of wonder, even. She had captured a Charmander. Just like he had. That was actually quite-

"And you hair is disgusting. And you!" she continued, turning to Chloe instead, saying something weird to her. Viking had stopped listening a the comment to his hair.

"Hey-" he begun, but Azure didn't seem to want him to say anything to her. She stormed off just as quickly as she had appeared, and sat down at a table at the other end of the pokémon center. Viking sighed. He didn't have energy enough to deal with Azure when he was in this mood, right after having lost and right when he was about to speak to Chloe about... life. But Azure had passed his human test, so maybe all three of them should sit down and speak? Before Rosa's temper grew again... Or maybe they should just go to bed and take it all tomorrow. Yeah.

"Chloe," he said again, sighing. "I'm very tired. But we should probably talk, if it's true that we are both... in the same situation. Can we meet in the pokémon center's lobby in the morning?" He then glanced at Azure. Rosa had never been the one to care about other people's troubles. She was the center of her own world. Viking should be the center of his. Yeah. Yeah.

"Darn!" Janine said, but then closed her eyes for a moment to calm down. Then she turned back to Nabooru and Dash. She then took the Sun Stone from her Ariados and examined it.

Great, just what this game needs right now - Team Rocket... Nabooru sarcastically blundered. She was never a big fan of Team Rocket; not even in the Red, Blue, and Yellow days. She then went over towards Janine, who was busy gazing at the stone in her hands - a Sun Stone. "Wait, all this for a Sun Stone?" she asked, somewhat disappointing. "I thought it was some sort of super-special-awesome-RAWR-I'M-GONNA-KEEL-YOU pokemon."

Nabooru shrugged, as perhaps Sun stones were just as valuable. She then had another question. She had a feeling that this might of been more rhetorical, but just to make sure... "And... What's this about the Team Rocket company?"

Janine got up from the ground, offering a hand to help Dash up as well, of which he accepted without much hesitation. He was surprised that his tackle worked, especially on a ninja. Even more surprising was that Mudkip was able to draw enough attention to do anything to the creepy bug thing.

Dash's eyes widened greatly, as he was dusting himself off a bit, getting any noticeable bits of dirt and mud off his precious clothes. Chromos was appalled at the accusation, while Nabooru was being innocent hoping it wasn't true. Dash kept to himself, mostly because Nabooru expressed his thoughts exactly. It was like they were connected, at least for the moment.

"I told them it was a bad idea to station me as a spy," Chromos said, making the ninja blink and assume a battle position. Ariados reacted when its trainer did, making sure Kipz wasn't a threat. It was pretty obvious that the woman was on their side, so Dash recalled Kipz back its Pokeball. If Chromos was in fact going to fight back for whatever reason, it would be painfully obvious that Dash's childish antics and strategies wouldn't work a second time. Fighting with Kipz would result in a terrible defeat, so it was best to leave this fight to…NPCs? Yeah, let's go with that.

Wait Team Rocket? They are actually in the game?! Somehow Dash wasn't surprised.

"Darn!" Janine said, but then closed her eyes for a moment probably in some vain attempt to find her composure. She took the Sun Stone from Ariados and stared at it, examining it for something. Dash couldn't really tell what was special about the rock. It was an oddly shaped rock. Nothing more. Nothing less. Sure it could evolve Pokemon, being a Sun Stone but it was usually for lame grass types. Dash rarely used those. In fact, he surprised himself catching a Bulbasaur. In hindsight, he probably should of looked for another Pokemon on Route 1. Sliently shrugging to himself, Dash didn't regret his capture really. After all, it was a good addition to the team.

Nabooru walked over towards Janine, who was busy gazing at the stone in her hands. "Wait, all this for a Sun Stone?" she asked, somewhat disappointing. "I thought it was some sort of super-special-awesome-RAWR-I'M-GONNA-KEEL-YOU pokemon."

Dash nodded in agreement. "A Sun Stone doesn't really seem worth it. Can't you find them in stores or something? Now a big scary Pokemon with horrible big sharp pointy teeth that can instantly KO Pokemon seems far more worthwhile. Come to think of it, I kind of want one now."

Nabooru shrugged before asking another question. "And... What's this about the Team Rocket company?"

Dash added his own spin to the question: "And are they doing the same thing they were doing…um earlier? You know kidnap Pokemon and use them for like experiments and whatnot? Be lead by your typical mafia looking boss with an Italian sounding name? Giovanni or something?" Dash said, trying to limit game references seeing how the previous NPCs weren't self aware, he would find it doubtful that Janine would be any different from the others he encountered.

Viking looked a bit surprised when he saw her right before him. He hesitated for a moment but then asked her the reason why she was playing this game and more important a question that was on Chloe's mind since the very first moment she got here: " How did you get here? " She wasn't sure what to answer to his questions…..her reason for playing? She just wanted to find a way home but she didn't really think it over very much. And regarding her arrival here…..she was as clueless as ever.

However before she could give a reply they were rudely interrupted by a young girl with bright golden eyes and blue hair. She immediately started lashing out at Viking, right in front of them, for no sensible reason. " Maybe she is mistaking him? " Chloe thought as she started criticizing his hair. The then girl turned towards the girl, Chloe didn't know what to understand of this situation. Regarding her, the girl couldn't conjure anything to badmouth her and burst into blubbering gibberish as a result of her frustration. After gasping for hair she turned around and stopped all the way to a table where she sat down.

" Did that just happen? " Chloe said in a shocked state towards Viking as she couldn't understand and process all that had just happened. Everything went so fast that it didn't take more than 30 seconds. " I'm guessing she and acquaintance of yours? " she followed looking at Viking that seemed to not care so much about what just happened as Chloe. The boy turned towards her and instead of and reply he was expressing his fatigue and how he would like to talk to her more about their current situation. It was a different side of him. Is this calm and somehow polite side of him the real Viking?

" Ok. Guess we'll see each other in the morning then." She said with a smile on her face for no reason. " Good night then!" she said taking a few steps back and starting to walk towards her room. She went back and jumped in her bed, putting her head down on the soft surface of her pillow gazing at the ceiling, with Volt by her head. " Maybe tomorrow we'll find some answers to some of our questions! " she thought as she was slowly, but surely, falling asleep.

"Wait, all this for a Sun Stone?" Nabooru asked, somewhat disappointing, and made Janine look up.

A small chuckle came from the ninja's mouth. "This stone? I didn't even know that the package would contain a stone. I had been told... that it would contain an important message. From someone... important. That's why I was surprised too. But I won't just throw this stone away without examining it more closely. And," she frowned a little. "You two should probably be on your guard for that guy. In case he feels revengeful. I think he will get other orders soon though... how he fooled us."

Nabooru shrugged before asking another question. "And... What's this about the Team Rocket company?"

Dash added his own spin to the question: "And are they doing the same thing they were doing…um ear lie?. You know kidnap Pokemon and use them for like experiments and whatnot? Be lead by your typical mafia looking boss with an Italian sounding name? Giovanni or something?"

Janine blinked. "Whoa, wait. What? Who told you that! I mean..." She cleared her throat and looked around, as if to see if there were any other people listening in on the dark street or in the windows of the PokéMart.

"Team Rocket is the most powerful company in Kanto. They own facilities all over the region and don't really specialize... in anything. In everything, perhaps," she continued a bit more quietly. She fixed a serious gaze on Dash after having glanced at Nabooru to see if she seemed to take this as news or common knowledge as well.

"Do you mean that you know something fishy about them? Maybe you..." she thought hard for a moment. "What are your names?"

Chloe went to a room to go to bed. Viking should go to his own room and try to get some sleep, he guessed. But he still wasn't feeling tired. Was this because they were in a game where the characters never slept? Awful, was his thought on it now. Rosa was a rebellious teenager who could gladly stay up a whole night, even in the middle of a week, just because she could. She had never thought that sleep could be a wanted thing. Viking cursed his creator a little now.

But first... his gaze fell on Azure, who was still sitting at a table pouting. He hesitated. Even if he would go to her, what would he say? Rosa cared about herself, not about others. Somehow, people seemed to think she was fun to be around anyways. But Viking wasn't like that. Or rather, people didn't seem to enjoy being around him. Well, Violet and Chloe hadn't seemed that appalled with him. Only Azure... not realizing that the very reason that he couldn't leave her be was that he knew that she didn't want him there, he walked up to her, putting on a sly face.

"A Charmander, huh? Decent enough, I guess. If you train it into evolution. That little lizard isn't enough to take on the real things in this game."

Back to his cocky self. He didn't even enjoy acting like this now. It frustrated him somehow, and that might have been showing in his face. He wanted to sleep. He would try.

"You'd better get some sleep," he said. In case she still believed him to be her tutorial, he'd better teach her something. "Just show your pokédex to the nurse and she'll give you a keycard to a room."

Great, apparently kicking their butts in Pokemon Yellow wasn't enough, Nabooru thought with a sigh. And, like a fairy tale, they are back. Again.

"Do you mean that you know something fishy about them?" Janine asked. "Maybe you... What are your names?"

"My name is Nabooru," Nabooru introduced. "This guy with the rainbow hair is Dash. We're... pokemon trainers traveling together. From... out of the area, you could say." Nabooru then plundered. Hehe, what if I told Janine right here and now that I'm from the real world? I bet she'll be all like: SAY WHAT, THIS IS THE REA WORLD! Or something. A bigger surprise is that I can say that I've defeated Team Rocker 26 times - the same number of times I beat Pokemon Yellow. The first time when I was five years old.

Nabooru continued once again: "As for Team Rocket, I guess I've heard of them somewhere before, yeah. I heard they are all like... MUHAHAHA, WE ARE GONNA EAT ALL YOUR... YOUR TACOS! AND RAWR, I HAVE FREE SODAS THAT YOU CAN'T HAVE ANY!"

Janine blinked. "Whoa, wait. What? Who told you that! I mean…" She was clearly surprised. Perhaps the game took place before all this stuff was common knowledge. Red/Blue/Yellow era maybe? It would make sense given the overall plot and characters that were introduced. But it felt different...

Okay, so maybe Dash was off a tiny bit. Maybe it was a return to power for Team Rocket, or a completely different take on them. Dash didn't really understand everything completely (what a surprise, eh?) but he seemed to gather the notion they had a legitimate front business and continued to do their underhanded tactics behind the scenes. The fact Janine didn't comprehend Dash's brief lesson on Team Rocket polices 101 seemed to reflect that. So whoever led this Team Rocket was a bit smarter than making their operation obviously run like an elaborate criminal/terrorist organization. Good! It means its more realistic. It didn't really matter though, since if this game was at all like the others, Dash would just beat them again. Standard day in a 10 year old's life. Well, his avatar was 13. So 13 year old's life then! Though it doesn't really carry the same ring to it.

"Do you mean that you know something fishy about them? Maybe you..." she thought hard for a moment. "What are your names?"

"My name is Nabooru," Nabooru introduced. "This guy with the rainbow hair is Dash. We're... pokemon trainers traveling together. From... out of the area, you could say."

That's putting it lightly, Dash thought to himself, while playing his hair to show off to Janine. Though does that she is not from around here too. Maybe she is like him! I already had my suspicions. I highly doubt the game designers would put in a character this entertaining into the mix.

Dash chuckled before adding to it: "Yeah, its pretty much like that. Except instead of tacos and sodas, its Pokemon. Well, maybe tacos and soda too, but I personally prefer cupcakes."

Janine smiled at them. Kids. Not too long ago, she had been in their age as well. Carefree and naive...

"Dash and Nabooru. Well," she put the Sun Stone, or whatever it really was, in a pocket in her pants and sealed the pocket. "I have to go tell the PokéMart that the package arrived, otherwise they'll call the Oak Lab about it and the real assistants there will be worried as hell..."

She returned Ariados to its pokéball and gave the two trainers a studying look again. "Watch out for Team Rocket," she then said. "More and more leads us to believe that they are up to no good. Maybe stay inside when it's dark outside, like now. The Pokémon Center has some beds that are free for trainers to use."

She turned to enter the sliding doors of the PokéMart, but stopped just before they opened up and smiled smugly back at the children. "Maybe we will meet again." And she went inside.

Janine turned to enter the sliding doors of the PokéMart, but stopped just before they opened up and smiled smugly back at the children. "Maybe we will meet again." And she went inside.

"Until we meet again," Nabooru called after. She then had a careful look at the sky. It was getting pretty dark, but it was weird - she wasn't 'that' tired... but just to be safe, she didn't want to crash in the middle of the road or something. She then turned to Dash. "This game world isn't that much different from the real world when you think about it," Nabooru began. "People and... well, 'animals' living with one another towards the same sky... it's like a fairy tale come to life, really. Well... anyway, maybe we should get some sleep here tonight. We can continue our journey tomorrow."

She stretched her arms and headed for the Pokemon Center. "Good Night, don't let the be-- um... Ledyba bite!"

Prince, Viridian City Part V

"Good evening to you, too," he replied cordially, scowling no sooner had Janine left. Now there was no point in going to the Pokémon Centre, even though Smoochum probably needed healing - not to mention Chloe's ugly fish Pokémon might shock him again and God forbid his hair be affected by static. He sniffed haughtily even though he was alone and walked in the opposite direction: north. Viridian Forest was the next place to visit, no doubt it was filled with little boys trying to find bug-type Pokémon. Weak Pokémon, with the only exception being a rare (often version-exclusive) Safari Zone catch, that he had no time for. Hopefully there would be no further accidents with Pokéballs.

As he strolled through the town, the sun's descent transformed the sky into a painter's masterpiece of red, yellow and orange. Street lamps came on and buildings soon began to glow from within, windows of all sizes casting the light out into the drawing night. There were a few people about, though like him they kept to their own business. Viridian was not as big as he had initially thought, and soon he found that the buildings were thinning out and there was a road up ahead.

"Hold it Sonny!"

Oh what now? seethed Prince, as an elderly man whose hair seemed to be withering into his scalp huffed towards him.

"Don't you dare take another step further!"

"Is there a problem?" the sour-faced youth frowned, grasp tightening around the handle of his briefcase. The parasol spun faster.

"Yes! You're not allowed to take one step further until I've had my coffee! What are you doing wandering the streets at night dressed like that, eh?"

"It's barely nine o'clock," Prince sighed, "way beyond the curfew for the old peoples' home."

"
Gaah! Impudent youngsters - think you're all important and stuff! What are you supposed to be, a bank accountant?"

Prince attempted a side-step only to be blocked by the old man; he blanched as a walking cane almost struck him over the head. What was it with him and NPCs? He probably wouldn't be able to pass until he collected a package from Oak's laboratory and delivered it to him, which would mean a return trip to Route 1 and then a lecture from another old man.

"I'm a Pokémon trainer," he explained, wondering if he could appeal to his harasser's programming and ditch him while he tried showing Prince how to catch a Weedle.

"Yeah? I still haven't got my coffee so until then you're not getting past!"

Drat! The old man's reflexes were like those of a ninja - was he an associate of Janine? - for no matter how Prince tried he could not break free from his marker. Then, he noticed the glimmer in the NPC's eyes and shook his head.

"No! I am no one's servant. I would rather wait all night than get you a coffee." Or beat you with my suitcase but then you might scuff the leather, he added silently.

"Pah!" wheezed the old man. "Then do it Sonny! I can wait just as long - I've lived almost four score years and I'm not about to kick the bucket yet!"

Prince no longer cared, he was extremely irritated by his run of bad luck and therefore turned around and began heading back towards the centre of the city. He still harboured no desire to return to the Pokémon Centre, and took a right as soon as he came upon the junction in the road.

Route 22, Part I

He half expected Gary Oak to hijack his walk towards the long grass, or another non-player character to leap out from behind the bushes and tell him that they used to be a trainer like him until they took a - oh, there was a Spearow, though it swiftly beat its wings and left to take refuge in a tree somewhere. It was night, so unless this game had Hoothoot then he was to have an uneventful night. This did not stop him from fighting whatever came his way, however.

Chapter II, Part V

[PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon VR: Game of Chance (IC)

Azure was playing with her fingers, Pippin gazing at her as she did so and Merry looking away in disinterest. It was night time but she didn't feel very tired, though her mind told her she should probably get to sleep or something. Bronwyn was definitely not one for sleeping and had taken her fair share of all nighters and such. Still, she had never done so much physical activity in a day. Sleeping sounded really nice right now.

"A Charmander, huh?" A voice from behind her made her quickly turn around. Oh, it was Viking. "Decent enough, I guess. If you train it into evolution. That little lizard isn't enough to take on the real things in this game."

"Like you'd know," Azure huffed. Well, as the tutorial, he probably was programmed to know a lot. But, whatever.

"You'd better get some sleep," the dredlock'd boy continued. "Just show your pokédex to the nurse and she'll give you a keycard to a room."

Azure would have said thanks but then she remembered this was a game and computers didn't have feelings. Well, sometimes they seemed like they felt sad and sometimes, you really can't help loving the NPCs. But here? Viking needed a better sob story if Azure was going to 'fall in love' with his character. Which was very unlikely, since he was a tutorial. Why couldn't she just skip him? If not, he should disappear sometime before the first gym, hopefully.

"Sure, whatever," she said, waving him off as Pippin carefully gnawed on the other. Ew, lizard saliva. "Didn't I say I wanted to skip this tutorial? How do I skip this? I know how to play this game, I don't need you to help me."
