just started playing (VERSION 1.1)
at first i was kind of put off by the poor variety of pokemon in the first 2-3 routes, but it gets much better on, thankfully.

the trainers and gym leaders could do with a bit of a difficulty bump, especially notice how some trainers have pokemon with wide ranging levels. like the levels should be around say lvl 20 and they still have some mons at lvl7, lvl9. no point in those when you can train in the grass. and the teams for gym leaders can be improved further (for example the first gym goldeen and/or chinchou can be used to replace squirtle, the current water mons are kinda too easy even without electric/grass types)

there are some unique things so far i like, like that car repair shop with the oil slicks that act like skating rinks, theres potential to expand it further into actual puzzles..

All the Pokemon have slightly higher levels than they did in Gold so there really is nothing wrong.

not consistently. i notice quite a number of npc trainers with mons lower level than the wild mons in the route (or near the route) they are in, especially in the early parts of the game.

I must say, as I read your intro thread for this game, I was skeptical, Seeing as second generation is one of my favorites. I will give you my honest opinion.


You have gone above and beyond with this, I feel like a part of my childhood was restored.


Some of my feedback would be this:

You made things seem like the childish game pokemon is and was always meant to be. You made a group of teens being what teenager's can sometimes end up being, rebellious to the core. Team Racket although the name wasn't very original, was inspirational to me. You made sure that the game was up to the highest standard, or so I felt. While there where some bugs, they weren't game crashing, and you actually seem to care enough to fix them. I like that. On to some more notable things I feel worth mentioning here.

The level curve of the game seemed a bit low. It felt like a decent challenge in the beginning, but around the 4th gym, the game got really easy all the way till the end. I'm not complaining, it just makes the game a bit fast going. Maybe if you do another hack you could make it a bit more of a challenge.

The pokemon spawns where decent going, except some pokemon should be put elsewhere, a wild crobat for instance, didn't seem very well placed, perhaps it should have been a golbat instead of crobat. I don't know, that is all you.

Overall, I like seeing a decent challenge in Pokemon, and I felt the elite four could have been built a little better, and some of the level curve could have been done a tad bit better, I don't blame you in the slightest, this was a exceptionally fun game!

One last thing, a contradicting point I guess, if Gold beat Red who had level 70's to 80's. Why would he have lvl 50 - 60's. That's what I really noticed, the level curve seemed a bit off. regardless, good job on restoring my childhood, which many people have failed at doing for a while now. (in the gbc saga anyways.)

You seem exceptionally good at the GBC style, I enjoy seeing rising game hackers. Keep up the great work!

Freako, I have a bit of a problem. I'm in the abandoned train station and defeated team racket once for all, but when I try to take the lost badge, it says that I have no more room to carry items. I deposited everything in my bag (except card key, obviously) and tried again and it said the same thing. I don't know what's going on. Help?
