A flash of light burst out of a thrown Pokeball, releasing an Aron out. Sid bent down and offered it a large, bluish berry, which was gladly accepted by the Pokemon. As it nibbled the fruit bit by bit Sid pondered his thoughts out loud inside his temporary room in the Pokemon Centre. "Man, that battle was intense; I expected the adrenaline to be pumping but that, that was something else. The thrill, the excitement..." Snapping out of it Sid noticed that Rocky had finished his Oran Berry and was lazily rolling on the floor on it's metallic back. Sid recalled it back to his Pokeball and picked up his bag. While locking the door and walking downstairs he thought more about the events of before. "Glyn seems like a cool guy. He claimed to have lived somewhere in Coriolis Town, right? Can't say for sure I've seen him before..." By that last word Sid had reached the exit of the PokeCentre. "He's a Pokemon trainer, so he must be also out to get all the gym badges, just like me. I wonder if we'll ever meet again. It's a small world after a-"

A small bump interrupted Sid's line of thought as he recoiled backwards. Since he was only walking slowly he only managed to slightly hurt his head with whatever he had thumped into, since he was walking with his head bent down. In reflex his hand swung upwards to scratch the small pain, but in the process his fingers slid across what seemed like texture of Denim jeans. Sid looked up. On his line of sight was a girl, around the same height as Sid. Her face was flustered as if someone had splattered red paint all over her cheeks, and she didn't look happy at all. Next thing Sid knew, the girl lowered her hand and in a flash clashed it towards Sid's face. As if for comedic effect the teen boy crashed onto the ground, his expression one of someone in huge pain.

"PERV!" called out the feisty chick.

"H-hey, who you calling a pervert lady?!" called out Sid, softly holding on his face, "I didn't mean to touch you there! It was an accident!" All the girl did was cross her arms and faced away in a look of disgust. Sid managed to pick himself up and dust himself down. "Look, it seems like we have gone off in a bad start. I didn't mean to... err, do whatever I did, it kinda just happened. My name's Sid; what's yours?" With his little speech finished Sid tried his best to look sorry and friendly by letting out a grin and throwing his hand forward for a handshake. The otherwise rowdy lass looked at Sid's hand with an unsure expression before letting out a sigh and returning his plea for forgiveness. "Well... I guess I can take it for an accident. I'm June Bay, and I'm a Pokemon trainer. Say, what brings you to this little town? Seems like not much goes around here, huh? Kind of boring. It doesn't even have a gym." Sid agrees with her; he only stuck around Dew Town for a night and except that battle with Glyn, not much had happened. "Well, I'm a trainer too, June, and I was just passing by here..."

After a few more minutes of small talk, Sid understood that June wasn't a native from Novia; rather, her family moved from Kanto when she was around ten, and that she was one year older than Sid. June was around average height at 5' 6" and wore a stylish cap which was adjusted in a way so that her brown hair and bangs popped out. Her long sleeve white tee seemed to have been manually cut so that it's red sleeves only went up to around 3/4 of her arm length. The Denim that Sid had "felt" was June's short jeans, and to finish it off on her feet June had white socks with brander sneakers. For someone who claimed to be a trainer, June only had a small shoulder bag to put all her stuff in. Sid thought how the hell she would manage to carry enough items for a journey in such a small space.

After a few more moments Sid realised that by now the clock had already struck 11:30, and he had been talking with June for nearly an hour. "Well, it's been fun June, but I really should be going now. Good luck on getting all your gym badges and the rest of your adventure!" Just before Sid tried to leave however June pulled his shoulder and brought him right back, "Oh, so you think I can just let you go like that after touching me back then?! Haven't you thought about paying me back for that?" What the hell what she on about? thought Sid; back then even she had acknowledged that it was just an accident. Before Sid could put in something June continued to talk, "I propose that you take me to the next town or city and travel with my until I get a badge! Of course, you wouldn't mind to be with a cute girl like me, right?" On his head Sid laughed at the arrogance of the girl in front of him, but he did think she was pretty. Plus, it didn't seem to trouble Sid at all; a companion wouldn't be so bad, would it?

Even with that thought, Sid tried to put up at least some resistance to her request. "And why should I accept? We both had before agreed that what happened was just an accident, and honestly, you would just slow me down." June reacted to Sid's last comment as if he had compared her to Snorlax, "Oh wait, first you feel me, and now you say I'M FAT? Now you're definitely taking me with you! Onward to Route 2, jerk!" And with that, June hooked her arm around the helpless Sid and dragged him to the exit of Dew Town.

Abel Rhodes - Chapter 2 - Part 6

Abel's Team

"Darner! Use Bite!" Abel's trapinch dived at the fire-type, attempting to close his large jaws around its small frame, but the nimble vulpix pranced out of the way and opened its mouth, releasing a barrage of tiny fireballs in the direction of Darner. The Ember hit Darner's side pushing him back and causing him to cry out
"TRAP!" Darner winced, sore from where the fire attack had hit him, but thankfully not suffering a burn. The Vulpix was quick to continue its onslaught, clearly a smart pokemon knowing it had the upper-hand as far as speed and agility were concerned; it launched a second Ember knocking Darner to the ground.

This is going nearly as badly as out first battle, but I can't keep up with it... I could switch to Aries but I don't know what good that will do just yet.
"Can you keep going?" Abel asked his partner
"Trapinch!" Darner climbed back to his feet more ready that ever to battle it out
"Sand-Attack!" Darner, changing approach, did as commanded and launched a spray of dirt at the face of the Vulpix who once again elegantly danced out of the way pounding Darner with more fireballs.
"pix" the vulpix was laughing now, enjoying the easy battle. It opened its mouth yet again but instead of an Ember it released a single, larger shpere of flame that engulfed Darner briefly, leaving him with a burn.
"Wonderful, it know Will-O-Wisp" groaned Abel, "Sand-Tomb!" Darner obeyed as always and a whirlwind of sand engulfed the opposing pokemon doing a decent amount of damage and trapping it within its confines. Despite being a weaker move, Sand-Tomb was super-effective against Vulpix and long lasting.

Vulpix responded with a yellow sphere that seemed to merge with the body of Darner. At first nothing seemed to happen, but it as Darner began to move it looked as though he had been out drinking for a few hours straight.
"Lovely, Confuse Ray too... Return Darner". In a flash of red the trapinch was back in its pokeball; the vulpix, still trapped in a sandy vortex, laughed despite wincing at the pain it was in.
"Fine, try to outpace Aries whilst stuck in that Sand-Tomb".

Abel released his spearow from his pokeball, to the noise of its fierce cawing. It was time for him to try a different approach.
"Don't attack, just dodge everything". The vulpix shot an Ember at Aries who easily avoided the attack, soaring in a loop through the air and taunting his opponent
"Spearow!" it seemed to scream at the fire-type.
I may need to work on his sportsmanship...
The onslaught of flaming orbs continued but the wild pokemon was taking damage from the sand-tomb which was making it harder to hit Aries. It launched an attack, Aries dodged, it launched another and Aries dodged again. The pattern continued until the sand-tomb vanished, leaving a heavily weakened vulpix in its wake.
"Got you, Sky Attack!" Aries began to pulsate with energy but was caught of guard by a sudden ember, being thrown back and losing its concentration - thus ending the move. The Vulpix then fired off a Will-O-Wisp at the temporarily grounded bird
"Out the way!" Abel cried out as the flame neared its victim. Thankfully, Aries rolled out of the way and returned to the air, narrowly avoiding the dangerous attack.

Realising it was no-longer fighting a winning battle the Vulpix turned and tried to run into the thick shrubbery
"No way in hell! Pursuit!" Abel had gotten too close and Darner had taken too much damage to let the Vulpix escape. Aries seemed to appear from nowhere as he sped towards the fleeing vulpix, colliding with its side and sending it sprawling.
"Now, Sky Attack!" Aries again began to build power as the vulpix began to struggle back to its feet.
Too late now was all Abel could think as in an explosion of white energy Aries launched himself at his target. The vulpix responded with another bombardment of fireballs but the Sky Attack was a far more powerful move, Aries flew straight through the attack taking very little damage and hitting Vulpix in a hugely forceful collision. The vulpix wasn't getting up again any time soon so Abel took the opportunity to throw a pokeball at it, drawing it within in a flash of light.

The ball rocked and Abel felt himself start to hold his breath, he had to capture the vulpix after that intense battle.
 

Tedder O'Rourke - Chapter 2 - Part 1

"Aedan?" A boy with well-tanned skin called out to his pokemon, kneeling down to the dirt and looking closely at nearby bushes. The boy's name was Tedder, and the pokemon in question, or Aedan, was his Eevee. "Aedan, this isn't funny anymore! Come out, you little prankster!", Tedder continued to call out for the pokemon, now lying flat on his stomach and inching across the grass like a wild Wurmple. Aedan was Tedder's first pokemon, although not his first pokemon experience, and for an Eevee he was very much the prankster. At first glance, Aedan had been calm; reserved, of sorts. It was only once they neared the end of Route One that the new Eevee had decided to climb from Tedder's shoulder. Okay, so it was more of a jump to tell the full truth. Tedder had been reassuring the young Eevee that everything was going to be okay for them, that although he was Tedder's first pokemon of his own, he had dealt with Eevee and their evolutions before. Aedan had seemed receptive of the information... Key word: seemed. There had been a scurry in the nearby bushes nearing the end of the route, and it was there that Tedder lost Aedan. Literally.

Feeling silly now, Tedder pushed himself up from the ground, and began brushing the blades of grass from his brightly colored shirt. On this day, Tedder decided to go with a neon pink rather than his usual yellow or green, and at the laboratory for Professor Palm Aedan had not been shy in showing his displeasure with the color. That too was a task, as the young Eevee decided it would be more fun to run from the brightly-colored boy then it would be to have ownership. It was only with a bit of help from one of Professor Palm's assistants that he managed to catch the feisty little fellow. No matter how troublesome the young Eevee proved to be however, Tedder couldn't find it in him to get mad... No, he had spent so much time around the evolutions as a young boy that he had grown quite close to his Eevee in a relatively short time. Pest or not, Tedder was going to be sure his Eevee felt loved. If he could find him that is.

"Ee-eeveeeee!"

Tedder shot a glance in the direction of the Route One exit, noticing that Aedan was in a full sprint towards the "Welcome to Dew Town" sign. They were that close? Following his pokemon, he noticed that the reason for Aedan's fleeing had been a grounded (and very angry) Spearow. The wild pokemon did not seem to notice Tedder, much to his surprise, and so he continued his pursuit of his pokemon. Ringing in his head was the sound of Aedan's cry, the pokemon sounding nothing short of terrified. Luckily for Tedder however, the pokemon did not have an outstanding amount of endurance built at the moment, and was he was thus able to catch up to Aedan just as they reached the entrance to the PokeCentre. Reaching down and scooping the terrified Eevee up, Tedder squeezed the pokemon tightly to his neon shirt and covered the poor fellow's eyes. He knew that Aedan didn't like the brightness, sure, but that had been a rather close call... Like it or not, he was going to squeeze the pokemon all the way to the front desk with his first formal meeting with a one Miss Nurse Joy.

"Hi, Nurse Joy?" Tedder stuttered out, loosening his grip on a now-coughing Aedan. "I don't think he was hurt any, but could you please do a quick check-up on me Eevee here, and make sure he is okay anyway? He got spooked in the woods of Route One, and I noticed a wild Spearow chasing after him... I just want to make sure he is okay, ma'am." Tedder placed his Eevee on the counter, pulling a pokeball from his belt loop. "Eevee, re-... Oh Aedan, I'm so sorry!" Tedder again reached down and hugged the pokemon, offering one last squeeze before recalling him to his pokeball. "Take good care of him, please. He's all I got."

Tedder stood at the counter just long enough for Nurse Joy to assure him that Aedan was safe in her care, and also to secure a room key for a bed upstairs. Apparently all the other trainers had made it before him, not that that was much of a surprise for Tedder. He liked to take things slow, so if it meant being the last to get to Dew Town... Well, it just meant being the last to get to Dew Town. Taking a deep breath, Tedder noticed that there was one other trainer that seemed to be dragging into town. He tried not to stare, not that he could anyways through the door of the PokeCentre, but he was indeed curious to find out who they were. He had recognized most of the people at Professor Palm's lab, but there had been a face or two that wasn't as familiar as the rest. This trainer included. As much as he wanted to stick around though, a good walk seemed more up his alley for the time being.

Tedder did not stare as he exited the PokeCentre, but he did notice the starter for this trainer was an Oddish. "An Oddish, how cute!" Tedder thought to himself, although moving past the pair in a rapid fashion. There was so much left to think of, so much left to think out. Aaren had always been there for him when he needed him and although he was only a phone call away now, things were going to get a lot tougher for him. Here he was, his first pokemon, and the start of their journey together could not have been more eventful had he tried. Sure he was nervous, and sure he was having a hard time adjusting to being Eevee's one and only, but it would be okay... Right? It wasn't as if he had done anything wrong per say, but he could have kept a better watch on Aedan. This was his first journey out of Coriolis, right? It wasn't the first for Tedder, as he had just moved there within the past year, so he should of been more composed for his pokemon. Oh, poor Aedan... From here on out, Tedder promised to himself that he would be better. Stronger. If for nothing else or for no one else, he owed it to his companion.

"You can do this, Tedder... You're going to become a pokemon master..."

Glyn Schaffer - Chapter 2 - Part 5

Glyn was back at the pokémon centre. Waiting by the counter to rest his pokémon again, after the intense battle with Sid. He was not all that disappointed having lost his first battle to a trainer like him. Even with his advantages in typing and witty combinations of attacks, Sid's pokémon were too strong to be defeated. That said something. Surely it must have been in the Aron's genes. He was bred from a top-class Aggron after all. He witnessed some motion in the corner of his eye when the nurse Joy returned with his two pokéballs, all healed up. He bid his thanks to the nurse and got his pokémon back.

Sid was in the lobby too. Apparently, he got scolded by this girl, trashed his face, and accused him of being perverted. Glyn in fact had seen her before. He sorta remembered them being in the same classroom with English, Geography, and Mathematics. Personally, Glyn thought she was a total word-one-should-not-mention. He twiddled his fingers, toying with the thought of intervening, but not wanting to disrupt a good show, and she was relatively harmless anyway. They talked and talked and then she emotionally blackmailed him into escorting her through route 2. The poor sod.

Glyn flicked his hand at his once-brown hair to open their curtains and chose to proceed his journey. Out the sliding doors he went and a quick look around. Neither June, nor Sid, nor Lombardy were around. June and Sid because she went in a rush to drag the pitiable kid over to the exit of Dew, and Lombardy because he was probably, like, crawling over the walls with suction paw pads like a lizard, and peering down at him with a pair of scornful eyes. Something like that.

Glyn paid a last visit to his high school. He didn't know the route out of Dew very well, so he just wanted to envision the last familiar thing he could see before his journey really began. In hindsight, had it not been for his awesome battle with Sid, this stay in Dew would have been as uninspiring as any other time he went here for school. He really hoped he could battle him again to even the scores. He'd have to train a lot more, though, to face up against a pokémon with a fearsome lineage. He stepped closer to the iron fence gate that was locked when school wasn't open. The classroom windows looked deserted. The lights inside were turned off and the tables looked unused. It carved quite a forlorn picture in his head. The ash grey slab was hardly a sight to look at. The yard in front of the school bore no life. It was just a single, unbroken layer of concrete, with a few wooden benches. The brown of wood might have been the only colour in the picture.

Desolately, he pocketed his hands and continued walking up to the exit. He should hit for route 2 now, he figured. He went past a small street. The homes were pretty modest, and they were designed to cope with the climate of Novia. Large verandas, and raised floors on stilts, with hip roofs and most of them used wood as their main material for the walls, painted in a variety of colours. He saw one of his varsity team members sitting on a rocking chair on the veranda, wobbling up and down and sorta trying to pull of the look of an old country man or something. He was a small-built kid, had brown hair, styled with a pot of gel like a porcupine. He looked up from his newspaper and noticed Glyn. He stuffed the paper away, jumped up and ran over to Glyn. He sure was a bouncy kid. Glyn remembered that. Bloke's name was Joey, lived up to his name. Glyn swore that the kid must've ADHD or something.

"Oi, Glyn! What're you doing here?" Joey bounced.
"I'm gonna take on the Novia league. I was passing through Dew just a day ago," Glyn replied.
"Dude, what about the swimming team?"
"I'm sorry, bro. I am guessing you'll have to survive a year without me."
"What? We're gonna miss our ace card in the relays?"
"I am sure you'll find someone to replace me, right?"
"I dunno, man. Lansky's gonna be so pissed."

Donald Lansky was the captain of varsity. He was a burly dude, about as tall as Glyn. He always had a hawkish appearance on him, and had a fearsome physique, like he was 3 years too old to really be in high school or something. He was just that big and toned. He kinda had a tendency to refer to the entire team as "my boys", and if you drew a sleight against one of his boys, you were in trouble with the whole team. Glyn didn't like Lansky.

"I really don't care."
"You wanna come over for a drink before you go?"
"Really? That'd be nice," Glyn beamed. It had occurred to him that he hadn't eaten anything yet today. And his stomach growled at him for his neglect to feed it.

Joey led Glyn into the home, up the steps onto the veranda and through the front door, that was left ajar. Joey could simply not stop bouncing all over the place when he led him to the living room. "Your parents are not at home?" Glyn asked. "They're out working," the voice responded from the kitchen area. Glyn wobbled on the soft brown cushioning of the couch. The living room wasn't very big, but at least it wasn't unbearably warm or humid, because the AC ran at full power. Glyn listened to the whizzing sounds and stared at the black TV screen. He also heard the sound of carbonated drinks being poured into two tumblers and Joey returned to put them on the low table.

"So what kinda starter did you get?" Joey enquired. His tongue was fast.
"A Tympole, I named him Kilohertz."
"Water types. Shoulda guessed, mate."
"I also caught a Spearow the other day. I named her Mathilda."
"That's cool. So you just catch your own pokémon like that and all. And you're going to take on the gyms and compete in the Novia league?"
"Yeah, that's the plan. Just like my brother."
"Would you ever want to battle him?"
"If I could, then maybe. He's got 9 years more experience than me though."
"Do you know where he is now?"
"I think he's touring Hoenn last time we've heard of him."

Glyn took a sip of his coke. The two discussed the future of varsity some more. And hypothesised a possible downfall of the team's held records with Glyn not being there to back everyone up. They took the piss at Lansky's "Watch for your boys" policies. Essentially, it was a regime of terror running down the school, with Lansky being like the godfather, and Glyn and Joey associates. They chuckled at the idea, and in half an hour, Glyn bid Joey farewell.

"Give 'em hell, bro!"
"No problem."

He waved goodbye and left through the front door and off the veranda. He took a left turn down the street and continued to the exit to route 2.

Ryan Williams - Chapter 2 - Part 7

Ryan's Current Team

"Oi, wake up, Bret. We're there." Ryan gave a slight shake to his backpack, where the Oddish was sleeping. As much as he hated to do this, he had to. Bret, as usual, had fallen asleep from exhaustion, and had been napping the whole afternoon. Waking him up would mean having to put up with his hyperactive behavior for the next 12 hours, and another sleepless night.

He had to wake him up, though. Bret would automatically ask for food upon reaching Ryan's line of sight, and ironically enough, despite knowing it, he hadn't brought any berries or poffins along. Still, he had to buy some at Dew Town's PokeMart. He couldn't leave Bret starving, after all.

The bag shook and moved a little on his back, as the Oddish slowly woke up from is elongated nap. Then, like a volcano coming to life, Bret bounced out of the backpack onto Ryan's head, and then in front of him. Bret was squeaking with joy as usual and sticking out his tongue, in a dog-like manner. Ryan stopped and sighed.

"Odd!" he squeaked, looking at Ryan, obviously expecting something from him.
"Calm your weeds down, Hitman, I don't have any food - " he emptied his pockets.
Bret frowned at the statement.
"- yet. We're just near Dew Town, and we'll buy some food there. Kapeesh?"
Bret seemed reassured by hearing the word "food" again, and turning around, he rushed towards the Pokemon Center where a PokeMart vendor would be selling items and food. Ryan, of course, had to run behind to not lose him.

"I don't wanna think of how fast he'd be if it was sunny today." he thought to himself. He probably would have lost Bret by then if not for the Oddish's amazing ability to always find Ryan, despite having no nose to smell.

On his way to the center, he crossed what seemed to be another trainer. He knew the stranger was a trainer, despite having no Pokemon, because he had recognized as a trainer sent by Prof. Palm. Even Bret stopped for a moment, as he did for every person he met twice or more, before speeding off again.

After a few minutes, they had reached the Pokemon Center, where Bret was impatiently waiting on a counter. Ryan sighed, and giving a few coins to the amused vendor, bought 2 Pecha berries for Bret. The Oddish swallowed the two berries together in whole, and burped, content. Seconds later, he had decided to explore the center and every person there.

Ryan shrugged, being used to such behavior from Bret, and allowed him to do so. Meanwhile, he went to book a room, and take his keys from Nurse Joy. As he waited in line for another trainer to finish, he looked around, and noticed many of the trainers there were also from the lab, not only the one he had met earlier.

Tedder O'Rourke - Chapter 2 - Part 2

Tedder had only been outside for a brief few minutes, but the nighttime air was all that he needed to recover from his woes. There was a lot that he had left to still figure out, more then the usual, but things were still okay. Things were going to BE okay. Aedan, although rebellious at this point, was by no means a bad pokemon. He was young, and a certain playfulness is to be expected in a pokemon. Let alone an Eevee. Tedder was not raised to be a quitter, nor was he raised to be obscure. His mother and father were both fearless, respected, known people in the world of diving. They had built themselves a legacy in Cerulean City of Kanto for a reason, contributed countless dollars to a Cerulean Gym that was once nearing a closing, all so that their children could have something to look back on. Something to be proud of. Would Tedder's parents be happy if Tedder gave up? Would they be understanding with his saying training is " way too hard?" Surely they would understand, right? Tedder was never the kind to go out and make friends, let alone go out on some kind of mission to be a "pokemon master". No, he was just meant to dive with them, just as his parents had. He wasn't the trainer type.

Except he was.

No, whether or not he had nerves the rest of his life, he was going to be a trainer. Working with some of his brother's pokemon, he had tasted a certain success that was indescribable. The nerves were just going to have to be a part of it all. There were going to be moments of jitters and anxiety, and there were going to be moments where he wasn't the best trainer out there. Anyone can lose on any given day, after all. To make a bigger point to one's self, Aedan wouldn't of came this far with Tedder had he not started to build at least some form of trust. Sure, he ran out of the forest and not towards Tedder, but with a wild pokemon coming at YOU... What would you do? Most would run towards the lights and towards safety. So no harm, no foul. It wasn't to be taken personal because that's not what a good trainer does. Nor what a great trainer does, for that matter. With every win comes success, but with every loss comes a lesson. Although this wasn't a loss, there was definitely a lesson to be learned.

"Uh-Hi-You there?"

Tedder was jarred from his thoughts, for the first time noticing that he had ran face-first into the window of the PokeMart. There had been a shooting pain in his face, now that he was awake from his thoughts, but nothing overbearing. The person that spoke to Tedder, or the woman rather, had a slight look of confusion on her face. Tedder put on his best smile, but to no avail. Whoever the woman was, she certainly wasn't pleased with Tedder's announcement of arrival against her shop window.

"You'll have to come back tomorrow if you want anything other than food", the woman pronounced. "If it is berries or snacks you are looking for, my nephew is inside the PokeCentre doing some late night sells." She again looked Tedder over, before offering her last two cents. "Sleep appears to be what you need, though. Don't stress too much. You are far, far too young a whipper snapper for all that foolishness!"

Tedder offered a small smile to the woman once more, and nodded his head. Gathering himself and his thoughts one last time, he walked the few steps back over to the PokeCentre and back to the side of his Eevee. He was pleased to see that, just as the woman had said, there was a vendor in the far right corner of the center that was selling berries and other assorted foods for the trainers. Another thing he noticed, was the trainer from earlier. Not just that, but the Oddish as well. His Oddish seemed friendly enough, the explorer type. Much like Aedan now that Tedder thought of it. Focusing his attention back towards the reason he came back in, Tedder was happy to see that a smiling Nurse Joy was waving him over towards her desk. Running a hand through his hair one good time, clearing his throat so he could speak, Tedder offered yet another smile. Feeling kind of smiley tonight, eh?

"You'll be happy to know that your Eevee is just fine, Tedder." Nurse Joy offered a small smile, placing Aedan's pokeball in Tedder's anxious hand. "I went ahead and did a full check-up on your Eevee, did some healing, but he was actually in very good health." She laughed, shaking her head. "Actually, if I am going to be honest he is in more then good health. He's also in really good spirits. A real comical pokemon, you have."

"Thank you so much, Nurse Joy. I appreciate it, seriously." Tedder gently pushed the release button on the front of the pokemon, a smile creeping it's way back across his face as Eevee appeared. "Ee-Eeveeeee!" The pokemon chimed, running full-sprint back to Tedder, back up his leg and up his shoulder. "Eevee..."

Sliding Aedan's pokeball back into his belt loop, Tedder now focused his attention on the rest of the room. For the first time, or at least one of the first times in his life, he was feeling social. Maybe it was due to the fact that he was tired of being the loner type, and maybe it was due to the fact that all the people he spoke to tonight seemed friendly... Either way, Dew Town was turning out to be a pleasant experience so far. His eyes scanning the crowd of trainers, he decided to approach the trainer he'd nearly took out upon his earlier exit. Truth be told, Tedder was intrigued by this one. Not in a threatening way, and certainly not in a stalking sense, instead it was mostly due to his pokemon choice. Oddish were known typically as unique, sometimes shy, pokemon that were either a real joy or a real pain. Not to mention, at least from what he had seen tonight the young Oddish seemed to have a good personality. Much like that of Tedder's own Aedan. Trying not to "line jump" any other trainers, Tedder cleared his throat and awkwardly tapped the shoulder of the trainer. Now THAT could go one or two ways...

"Hey, erm, I'm Tedder." Tedder looked to Eevee, and then back to the trainer. "This is Aedan, my starter pokemon." Tedder's eyes then found Oddish, again smiling. "Aren't you from Coriolis Town? If not, I apologize, but I thought I recognized you and your pokemon. Oddish has always been an interesting pokemon... Yours certainly seems friendly." Tedder shrugged, trying not to stare. "If nothing else he seems to be a handful, just like my Eevee."
 

Chapter Three - Chimes - Carillion Forest


You are now entering into one of the iconic rainforests of the Novia Region, Carillion Forest - a deep forest where mysterious chimes and bells hang from the trees. Trainers who traverse this forest often report unusual experiences.

The forest itself is beautiful, during the day time thin rays of sunlight penetrate the thick foliage and whenever the wind blows the mystical music of the ancient chimes and bells. A thin, neat but worn path shows the most direct route through the dense forest but many trainers choose to find their own way.

Mandatory Event - Whilst travelling through the forest the chimes and bells will begin to toll loudly, despite the air being still and for a second the world will seem to be a blur of colours and unidentifiable shapes. Soon after the strange occurrence will cease and everything will return to normal - perhaps one day your trainer will learn the truth behind this event.

Optional Event - You may have the opportunity to meet Professor Roland Knut who is doing research on the forest ecosystem. He believes the iconic bells and chimes of the forest pay homage to a legendary pokemon and that the pokemon living in the forest may provide clues as to its identity.

Wild Pokemon Moves - Wild pokemon encountered in this chapter have a maximum of four moves. You will be able to choose these moves from the first five available moves and egg/tm moves. There is a limit of one egg/tm move.

Note: Remember that you cannot enter this chapter until you have completed the requirements for chapter two. If inactive RPers fall behind and don't fulfil the objectives of chapter 2 they should contact me to sort out a solution, I reserve the right to drop RPers who fall behind due to inactivity.

"Eh? There's a high school near Dew Town?"

Not long after the events of only a few minutes ago, Sid and June entered Carillion Forest, a mysterious woods with a reputation of trainers gossiping about it's strange and unique mystery. The thick foliage eclipses most of the sunlight and only a few rays manage to trespass the leaf net, making the forest as dark as any night could be. Soft breeze flew through the air in a swift fashion, swaying leaves calmly.

"Yup. It's a mixed school, and it's one of the few which doesn't just concentrate on Pokemon stuff, like Maths and Geography and other things. To be honest I kinda found that to be boring and decided to quit to be a trainer. I only started yesterday~"

The news surprised Sid. "Oh wow, same here. Did you get a starter Pokemon and a Pokedex through Professor Palm?" At first June looked at Sid with a confused face and a raised eyebrow, before facing away with a huge smirk, "Hmph, I don't need a stupid Pokedex to make me an amazing Pokemon trainer. I've got everything here," June started tapping her head as if to extend on her point. Sid didn't believe her; he just thought that she couldn't be bothered to get Coriolis Town or something like that.

"Wait, if you didn't get a starter from Professor Palm, then how do you have a Pokemon?" After Sid said this he extended his thought and pondered them aloud to June, "Do you actually have a Pokemon?" Sid was starting to doubt if June was a trainer at all, and that she just wanted someone to escort her towards the next town. The small bag, the confusion when he mentioned the Professor's name... it all made sense to Sid.

"Oi, I'm not lying, I AM a trainer," June said, trying to read Sid's thoughts, "I'm just not your standard one who was given a Pokemon to begin with. In fact-" Cutting herself from speaking, June stopped walking and searched her bag before bringing out several Pokeballs and throwing them in the air one by one, activating the capsule's unlock system and releasing all kinds of Pokemon around the duo, before continuing, "I grew up with them, and so they will be the ones to accompany me on my journey!"

Sid quickly looked around him, taken aback by the sudden presence of Pokemon around him. He took out his Pokedex and pointed towards all of them. There were five in total; a Squirtle, Rattata, Pidgey, Caterpie and Mankey. "All of them are from Kanto," Sid recited from his Pokedex, "I'm guessing you have preference for Pokemon from there because of your roots?" June nodded with a grin, glad that Sid had noticed the fact, "Ratty, Buggy, Birdy and Fisty have been with me ever since the time I was small and used to live in Viridian City, and Bubbly was given to me by Professor Oak when I told him I was leaving for the Novia region. We've been together for years and we'll one day become one of the best teams ever, right?" June glanced at her Pokemon with a wink and all of them jumped up with happy cries.

Sid took June's speech with a smile. It was cute how nearly all of her rooster was going to be Pokemon she grew up with, and made him think about Rocky and his and it's bond. Ever since Rocky hatched from it's egg they have been together all the time, and both understood each other well. There was however one question which Sid was curious to find out about, "You only have five Pokemon with you, so are you planning to catch one in Novia or something?" In the meantime that Sid was thinking June had bent down to play with her Pokemon, and stood back up again when Sid asked his question. "Well, at first I had planned to, yeah. But then I remembered a few months ago about a story my grandma had told me about the "spirit of the Viridian Forest"; Viridian Forest being a woods near Viridian City where I used to live," June added quickly after seeing confusion in Sid's face, "And she mentioned a Pokemon so rare, so beautiful, so mesmerizing that only a few in human history has ever seen it in real. Some even say it's the first Pokemon to ever co-exist, and has DNA of every Pokemon out there!"

"After remembering this you'll probably figure that me being me I researched further into the "spirit of the Viridian Forest", and after many hours I found a leaked image of it. My dream is to one day see this Pokemon and capture it to become the sixth member of my team!" Sid saw the passion in June's speech and was impressed by her determination, but was baffled by some of the facts that she had pointed out. Surely there couldn't be a Pokemon which had every DNA of every single Pokemon out there? It seemed impossible. "Can I see this leaked image then? Assuming you have it with you?"

"I do, in fact." June replied while returning her Pokemon and putting them away on her bag. After some fiddling around she zipped her bag and pulled her lower eye lid and stuck out her tongue, "But no, I'm not showing it to you." With that she started giggling girlishly and started skipping forward. Sid sighed and proceeded to follow her. "Oh boy."
 

Abel Rhodes - Chapter 2 - Part 7

After a few seconds, which felt like hours to Abel (which seemed to be the norm when catching a new pokemon), the ball stopped rocking and a distinctive ding was heard. Abel couldn't help but let out a victory "whoop", he was only on route two but he had already successfully captured two pokemon.
"Nice work Aries!" congratulated Abel, making a mental not to thank Darner for his efforts later also. The Spearow squawked a thanks, well it sounded more like an acknowledgement than a thank you to Abel but he figured it was close enough.
"Now, lets see how our new team mate is going to react to her new situation." Abel released both his newly caught Vulpix and Darner, he figured his whole team should meet.
"Trap!" exclaimed Darner, realising that the rest of the battle had been a success, and already looking much healthier.
"Vul?" Abel's newer team mate looked around slightly confused before realising her situation and relaxing, accepting her situation with relative ease. Abel looked her over, he had named both Darner and Aries so it was only right to give Vulpix a name to distinguish her from the rest of her species also. He considered her elegance in battle, her beauty and the smoothness of her fur before deciding on a name
"I'm going to name you Grace". The Vulpix, Grace, looked up
"Vul" she then yawned and curled up to sleep, apparently what ever she got named didn't really matter to her.
What a strange pokemon

Abel decided that he'd have a quick lunch with his pokemon before heading off, although it seemed Grace would just sleep through it.
 

Ryan Williams - Chapter 2 - Part 2

Just as Ryan got his key, he noticed someone come up behind him. Assuming it was the next person in line, he paid no attention to them. Suddenly, he felt a tap on his shoulder, and he turned around.

"Hey, erm, I'm Tedder. This is Aedan, my starter pokemon." The trainer then smiled as he noticed Bret playing with a decorative plastic plant, thinking it was a oversized Oddish. "Aren't you from Coriolis Town? If not, I apologize, but I thought I recognized you and your Pokemon. Oddish has always been an interesting pokemon... Yours certainly seems friendly. If nothing else he seems to be a handful, just like my Eevee."

Ryan laughed. "Oh, my Oddish is friendly, that's for sure. Too friendly, sometimes. Has he disturbed you or anything? I apologize if he did." he said, and glanced at the Oddish. "Bret, leave that Happiny alone." The Oddish frowned and atuck its tongue out, and went to explore the upper floor of the Centre. Ryan sighed.

"Sorry. Bret -my Oddish- doesn't take orders too nicely. And to answer your question, yes, I am from Coriolis Town. I knew I had seen you somewhere, was it at Professor Palm's lab? It probably is. I recognize that look on Eevee's - sorry, Aedan's - face." He smiled. "Believe it or not, I was actually gonna take him as my starter! But then Bret showed up, and I picked him instead. But, it turns out he got a great Trainer anyway!" He looked at the Eevee which seemed content. "Oh, I'm Ryan, by the way. Nice to meet you Tedd-"

He was interrupted by Bret jumping into his arms, squeaking and trembling in fear.

The Oddish had made the Happiny fall over, and drop a few Pokeballs it was holding in a tray. One had opened, and an enraged Mightyena, which had violently been roused from its sleep, came out. The latter had begun chasing Bret, and was now barking in front of Ryan.

"Okay, okay, stay d-"

The Mightyena leaped forward at Bret, knocking both Ryan and Tedder over. Bret, who had jumped before the Bite Pokemon attacked, ran out of the doors of the Centre in fright, still chased by the Mightyena.

"Bret!" Ryan quickly got to his feet, helped Tedder up, and ran out to follow the two Pokemon.​
 

Tedder O'Rourke - Chapter 2 - Part 3

"Sorry. Bret -my Oddish- doesn't take orders too nicely. And to answer your question, yes, I am from Coriolis Town. I knew I had seen you somewhere, was it at Professor Palm's lab? It probably is. I recognize that look on Eevee's - sorry, Aedan's - face."

"Believe it or not, I was actually gonna take him as my starter! But then Bret showed up, and I picked him instead. But, it turns out he got a great Trainer anyway!" He looked at the Eevee which seemed content. "Oh, I'm Ryan, by the way. Nice to meet you Tedd-"

Up until this point Tedder had been paying attention to the trainer, now identified as Ryan, with not a hint of disturbance in his attention span. However, it was as the trainer himself stopped talking that Tedder first noticed that a raging Mightyena was coming there way. There had been even less time to avoid the Mightyena, as the pokemon took the pair of the trainers down. Tedder felt himself crash to the floor, eyes closing at contact. He could also hear Aedan, a loud cry erupting from the gentle pokemon as he landed just inches from him. It had just been moments before that Tedder had been thinking loudly in his head about protecting Aedan. Ironically enough, this was going to be his first good chance to prove his loyalty to his new pokemon. Together they would fight this Mightyena, and they would do so alongside their new colleague. After all, the Mightyena's main target had been Ryan and his Oddish. Tedder and Aedan were simply caught in the crosshairs, but they had felt the brute force of the pokemon nonetheless, and such actions were unacceptable. Now that pokemon would pay.

"Hey! Wait up!"

After being helped up by Ryan, the trainer disappeared through the doors of the PokeCentre and into the darkness of the night. Turning to Aedan, Tedder gave his pokemon a quick nod and headed for the door in a full sprint himself. Dodging another trainer and their pokemon, Tedder could feel the paws of Aedan digging into his shoulder, running faster to keep up with Ryan. He could see him, although just barely, and he could also now see Ryan's Oddish and the pursuing Mightyena. The closer Tedder and Aedan got to the trio, the louder the growls became from the belly of Aedan. Now that's new. Battle was going to be inevitable at this point, and regardless of the result Tedder found himself with an odd sense of calmness feeling his stomach and the rest of his extremities. Calm too was Aedan, despite the constant flow of growls pouring from the mouth of the young Eevee. It would be their first battle as a pair and assuredly one of many, but there was no fear in either of them for their opponent. However, not to be ignored was the fact that the pokemon was not simply a wild pokemon. He did have a trainer, and that trainer by assumption would have more pokemon. Could they handle that challenge, IF so presented?

Well, we'll just have to see.

"That's about enough out of you, Mightyena..." Tedder was calm when he spoke, looking over to Ryan and then over to the Mightyena. Aedan's growls had reached their peak, and Tedder could see his companion digging his paws into the ground below. "Oddish did nothing to you, not intentionally, and no course of action needs to be taken of such violence. Turn around and go back to the PokeCentre and to your trainer... Now." Tedder watched as the pokemon turned his attention to Aedan, no longer focusing on his original target. Again Aedan growled deeper, feet digging harder into the dirt as his ears pinned back.

"Well Ryan..." Tedder smirked, looking briefly to his fellow trainer. "It would appear my warning to Mightyena was harmless... It would also appear we have a battle on our hands." Tedder nodded. "Well, that is if you will join my side in battle and help me teach this pokemon a lesson, as well as his place." Tedder then turned back to Aedan. "This is going to be mine and Aedan's first battle, and although we appear to be under-matched, I don't quite think the odds are in the favor of Mightyena. Not with two young, agile pokemon..."

Glyn Schaffer - Chapter 3 - Part 1

The path ahead of Glyn seemed to narrow down significantly, and the trees packed themselved together to become denser and denser. Their foliage melted together to form a single large umbrella, with rags all through them, letting the ample sunlight pass through like threads of gold onto the forest floor. The air clammed up, enough to make you sweat like a pig. Glyn trudged over the narrow track underneath the umbrage of the leaves with an opened plastic water bottle in his hand. He took a quick sip and capped it up again. It was probably gonna rain later in the afternoon, Glyn thought.

There were some places where the pass was as narrow as the breadth of his foot, and with thick brush on either side. So he placed his feet directly in front of the other with each step like he was walking on a balance beam. Other parts were a bit more comfortably wide, some around 50 centimetres. The canopy traversed the gap with no problem and kept the path shrouded. It gave the forest some charm, walking through the dark, and seeing the rags of sunlight breaking through the canopy here and there. And you could listen carefully and hear how bustling it was with life: a pair of Murkrow hid on top of a high branch, cawing at each other, and discussing the weird human down below; bug pokémon like Caterpie, Weedle, Wurmple and Sewaddle caused the bushes on either side to ristle up. One could easily distinguish the ristling of leaves caused by pokémon and caused by the wind. The pokémon-caused kind was much brusquer, much more local, and there obviously wasn't any woosh of a wind. Actually, Glyn felt that the reasons they sounded different were so obvious that he felt stupid thinking about it.

What did peak Glyn's interests were some of the wind chimes that were hung up all around him. Just to his side, attached to a low branch, a bamboo wind chime spun in the wind. A block attached to the string in the middle chucked against the hollow wood and produced some tranquil acoustics. Carillion forest was reputed to be full of these, in all shapes and sizes. For no real reason either, it seemed. Maybe it was an indigenous tradition to put wind chimes in forests to increase their aesthetics, maybe the place was sacred, maybe it was part of a prank some kid pulled years ago that nobody bothered cleaning up. It didn't matter though, as nonetheless, the wind chimes gave the forest its folklore mystique. Glyn reached out and took the wooden block in his hand, and gave it a firm swing. He listened to the collisions the wood made against the bamboo, and how the wind chime swung about. It suddenly ungrappled itself from the branch the hook wrapped around and landed in the bush with a soft thud. "Oops," Glyn said. He bent down and picked the wind chime up to install it right back onto the same branch again.

One of the Murkrow floated down from its perch over to the human. It peered at him in accusatory silence for his indiscreet behaviour. "There, there, all better," Glyn told to himself after returning the wind chime. He turned around and saw the Murkrow standing and gazing up at him from the dirt path. The ebony-feathered crow pokémon had a pretty morose look in its eyes. They all kinda had, though. He simply continued staring at him, just from below the brim of his hat-like feather crest. Glyn furrowed an eyebrow, and wondered if he had offended the pokémon. It eventually lost its interest and hopped into the underbrush without a sound. Odd enough. Glyn picked up his gait and followed the winding trail deeper into Carillion forest.
 

Abel Rhodes - Chapter 3 - Part 1

Abel stepped from Route Two into what was the official starting point of Carillion Forest. The change in the environment seemed almost instant to Abel; ahead of him lay a worn dirt path surrounded by thick, dense and vividly green foliage. Thin rays of sunlight poked through the forests canopy illuminating patches of the ground. A faint breeze rustled the leaves of the many plants around him and tussled the many chimes and bells that hung from the trees causing a faint but beautiful sounds to add to the already dazzling landscape. Not even the slowly diminishing light and thickening clouds, suggesting an oncoming downpour, could dampen Abel's mood as he took in the sight.

Abel had fallen asleep on the edge of Route Two earlier and had awoken to the site of the looming grey clouds - he didn't mind the rain but he decided that he'd like to reach the forest before the rain started so if a storm hit he would at least be able to find shelter in the trees. He was glad he'd decided to move a bit quicker than usual, as he would have missed the beautiful site before him had the clouds blocked the sun's light. Abel took a few minutes to appreciate the scene before him before heading further into the forest, accompanied only by the pokemon sealed in their balls and the chiming of the bells.

It was a humbling place for Abel, mysterious, large and gorgeous and he decided almost immediately it was his favourite place in the Novia Region, despite having much more to see. Bug types such as Caterpie, Weedle, Wurmple and Sewaddle scurried amongst the plants on the forests floor as arboreal pokemon like Aipom leaped from branch to branch, occasionally disturbing the rest of a Hoothoot or Murkrow - both of which were primarily nocturnal species.
"This place is incredible."

Abel continued his journey along the path but made a mental note to explore off the trail after the rain ceased.
 
Glyn Schaffer - Chapter 3 - Part 2

The trail ahead seemed to open up slightly, though Glyn was still stuck underneath the sky-blinding green parasols of the canopy above him. The golden rays of sunlight that pierced through the leaves' rags attenuated as clouds above made a stronger cover in the sky. The wind chilled Glyn up. It was a welcome relief from the close humidity of the forest. In tropical climates, it usually rained around late afternoon, so Glyn had anticipated it already. The wind rocked about the wind chimes and bells, and they played a harmonious melody that reverberated through the forest. Glyn reached a point where the underbrush off the trail didn't seem untraversible. In between two trees whose low branches seemed to arch over each other, he could see a clear passage under the canopy that veered off the trail. He wagered it. And if it led to a dead end, he could always backtrace his steps.

The ground was different from the dirt trail. It was riddled with life. The moss floor cushioned each of his steps, and his soles sank a little bit everytime. Even deeper into the forests, there were still bells and wind chimes all over the place. And each gust of wind excited each of them to tintannabulate their high-pitched melodies. Even if it were possibly just a prank, it enchanted Glyn that some people took the time to hang these things up all throughout the forest. It was no doubt a very large site, and he hadn't even seen half of it.

Glyn stumbled across a part of the forest where the canopy opened up, and bits and pieces of sky swarmed in. The sky was grey and overcast now, but the air still felt warm and humid. In the middle of the clearing was a small pool. The water inside appeared a translucent aquamarine. It must have been about 5 metres across, and was a little longer than it was wide. Glyn's stomach protested, and he thought he found a nice spot for a quick midday break anyway. He tossed off his heavy bag and called out his two pokémon. Mathilda and Kilohertz appeared from their red-and-white capturing devices as beams of energy that soon materialised to their natural forms. The Spearow and Tympole glanced at each other in disagreement, and exchanged verbal reprimansions at each other. "Guys?" Glyn enquired. The spearow and the tadpole pokémon were having it at each other. Mathilda landed by the bank and flapped her wings angrily, while Kilohertz squawked right back at her. "Listen, guys!" Glyn came to mediate between the two, "We're a team, alright? It doesn't matter whose fault it was for losing our first battle. It's only a first battle, alright? There's a 100% chance in a battle between two beginning trainers that one will lose his first ever battle, and it was 50/50 whether it'd be me or Sid."

The Tympole just puffed his cheeks and submerged to avoid any further conversation with either the Spearow or Glyn, but Mathilda just turned her fury towards Glyn now. "Would you quit it already?" Glyn grunted at the Spearow, "I get you want to measure your powers and all. If you listen to me, then we're gonna take on the Novia league together, alright?" the Spearow tilted her head. Kilohertz swam up to the surface in the middle of the pool to look at his trainer as well. "That's right. I've captained JV, and I could sure as hell put some spirit in both of you. If you put some trust in me, then I can promise you that each of you will have your moments of glory in competition, alright? And I'll make ruddy sure that the next battle we're in will go to us. But for that, you both have to listen to me and cut the yakking and finger-pointing at each other, understood? 'Cause you both were formidable." Both pokémon nodded. Mathilda trotted off on her own to perch on top of a high branch while Kilohertz approached his trainer again, with Spearow out of the way. Glyn assumed the fight would be quelled for now, but he was gonna have to work hard to get a better team chemistry. It was typical though. Debutants who lost their first matches always had confidence issues, and it was worse in the relays, when those bloody sophomores tried to pin the blame on each other. It was all hard work for Glyn to keep everyone happy, but it paid off, he guessed. Almost every JV member shaved off at least 8 seconds off their normal times that year, and Lansky could eat his heart out with his Mafia politics in Varsity. Those were -his- boys he was captaining, and they got good because of -him-.

Glyn had soon prepared food for both Mathilda and Kilohertz. Two bowls filled with the kibble that pokémon seemed to like apparently. The scent had attracted a pair of Aipom who watched on intently from the thick brush of the trees. They jumped branch to branch at frightening speed towards Glyn and his pokémon, and dove towards the food. They scooped up several pellets with their prehensile tails and ran into the bushes before Mathilda could fly after them. Mathilda's dumbstruck reaction, followed by her uncontrollable rage at the bushes they disappeared into cracked Glyn up good. He sat by the bank of the pool his feet submerged in the water. He had taken the time to take his shoes off and eat his sandwich with a warm foot massage. The pool itself was surprisingly warm, probably because of some geothermic activity. It also explained the pure aquamarine colour of the water, as the warmth allowed for the water to be richer in minerals. The water compelled Glyn for a little dive. He trudged towards his backpack lying on the moss and found his swimming trunks. He changed his attire and left his clothing on a jutting rock near the bank and stepped into the relaxing water. It wasn't very deep, and his feet could hit the bottom while he was about chest-deep.

Glyn's pokémon had finished eating by now. Mathilda was still sulking about the two Aipom stealing her food and running off with it, but she had calmed down again. Glyn stretched his arms and cushioned them behind his head while he sagged in the water, to let it touch his chin. He looked over the surface and saw a few circles appearing on it. They expanded and expanded, rippling outward, and they were followed by more. He looked up and saw that it began to drizzle, and it would soon torrent upon him, but here was, nice and warm. "Suck it, rain! Suck it!" he taunted the weather.

Abel trudged along the simple dirt path which was rapidly becoming quite muddy as the rain began to fall through the leafy veil that was the canopy of Carillion Forest. The rain wasn't overly heavy but it fell constantly with no let up suggesting to Abel that it would at least go on for a decent amount of time even if it didn't intensify further. The chimes and bells that hung from the trees began to chime louder and more intensely, yet somehow still beautifully, as the wind picked up further blowing rain into Abel's face.
Well, I was hoping that the wind would blow the other way, but oh well.

Abel continued to walk, his shoes getting caked in mud when he heard the voice.
"Suck it rain! Suck it!"
What the... do they need help? They didn't sound it but I better be sure.

Abel walked off the path through a small gap in the trees to his left, noticing how the droplets hung from the leaves. The ground below him was less muddy as he was walking on a carpet of fallen foliage rather than on the forest floor. It felt springy beneath his feet almost as though the forest itself was alive and breathing below him.

As Abel continued to trek through the forest landscape he took note of the eyes that watched him. He had seen plenty of pokemon on the routes he had travelled so far but the forest was incredibly different. There were bugs hanging from trees all over the place staring intently at him and arboreal pokemon running amongst the trees above him scattering twigs, leaves and nuts around Abel as he walked. Every square inch of Carillion Forest appeared to be teaming with life. Including the small clearing he had walked into.

It was a breathtaking site, the rain was falling through a small hole in the canopy onto a lush green ground, and the surrounding foliage where it hung from the leaves. At the centre of the clearing was a fairly decent sized pond of a startling aquamarine colour, suggesting unusual minerals in the pond... or possibly fungus of some kind. It was a beautiful sight... except for the boy in a swimsuit taunting the climate. Abel looked at the ponds occupant unsure of what to say, he settled for a greeting.
"Uh... hello".
 

// CHAPTER THREE : PART TWO //

"Hey hey, can we please stay on the road June?"

Sid yawned after lazily calling out to the over-excited lass, blocking his sheepish expression with his hand. Meanwhile June was skipping around on the grass, unaware of Sid's passive attempts on calming her down.

"Hey Sid, come look at this - there's these bells on the trees!" June hollered, stopping to hold a small, dusty chime that was hanging from a tree. With not much interest, Sid walked across towards June and the bells, yawning again in the process. It had already been three hours in Carillion Forest, and the dark nature of the woods had made Sid sleepy.

"Look! They're everywhere! I've never seen something like this, like ever!" the brown hair girl said with excitement, blowing the filth off the bell she was holding. Sid noticed that all the trees had small bells hanging all over them; there wasn't a single tree without one. The air was still, and there wasn't many Pokemon around; at least, not as many as Sid had seen when the duo had first entered the forest. Sid went to pick up a bell himself while saying, "I wonder who or what managed to put all these bells on all these trees. It couldn't have came here all by it-"

Suddenly, before Sid could finish his sentence, little clings started surrounding the pair, getting louder as time went on. Sid got confused. There was no wind around; the previous small breeze had passed and the leaves of the trees were staying perfectly still. Sid twisted his head around. June was in the same trance as him; confused and with little explanation on what was happening. All of a sudden, Sid felt a knock on his head, but it was like as if it had hit him inside. He brought his hands forward, trying to focus onto them. At first his eyesight seemed fine, but then his vision started getting blurry, and then his feet got swept up. Sid landed softly backwards onto the grass, completely dumbstruck by what was happening. June noticed this, and started screaming while shaking Sid's body around. Sid tried looking up, but he couldn't see anything.

Then all of a sudden a flash of colours blinded Sid, the mixture of hues floating around his view. Wha-what's happening...?, panicked Sid, desperately attempting to make sense of the situation, I can hear June screaming... but I can't see the forest or her anymore... Next thing he knew unidentifiable shapes flew in, lingering around Sid's line of sight. The clinging sounds from the bells were still ringing in his ears. Sid started drifting off, his eyes slowly closing to a slumber. He was sleepy before, but the perplexing situation had put him in even more of a state. Before he completely shut his eyes however, the whole thing came to an abrupt stop. Sid pushed his eyelids wide open and jerked his upper body upwards, as if coming out of a nightmare. Little did he realise that June was right beside him, and the two teens' heads clashed against each other and repelled onto opposite directions.

"Oww!" cried June, clutching her rosy forehead. Sid was doing the same. Both started standing up, dumbfounded by what had just happened. All the chimes around them had returned to being still and lifeless, unlike the mad clinging just a few minutes ago. Both Sid and June just stared at each other, unsure on what to say. The girl broke the tension. "What... what just happened?"

 
Glyn Schaffer - Chapter 3 - Part 3

"This is what travelling should be about: Finding your own little gardens of Eden," Glyn said. His head cushioned on the rocky edge of the warm pool. He cocked his head back and looked up into the clouded skies. The rain torrented upon him, but it didn't concern him. It seemed pointless to worry about the rain making you wet when you're chest-deep in water. Glyn slacked a sigh as light as a feather and looked down to see his Tympole swimming figure-eights over the surface. "Mathilda, you coming into the water, or what? It's like a hot tub," he called for his Spearow. She grunted and refused to budge from her perching spot. Her grim appearance got the attention of a few Aipom, but they were wise to leap in an arch around her. Glyn pursed his lips sideways and took her off his mind. He couldn't help but notice that even this far off the track, the branches of the trees still had chimes and bells hanging in them. One particularly large one he found looked like it was attached to a couple of support beams and had these enigmatic markings carved into the bronze.

It's far different from just going on a holiday as a tourist, he thought. You go where everyone else goes. The hotspots. You take pictures of the really big monuments that attract hundreds of thousands of tourists a year. It's kinda like going celebrity hunting, except instead of famous persons, you look for famous buildings. And where's the challenge in that? They don't ever move from their spot. Tourists just see what they come to see, but travellers, they see what they see. And if such is the case, Glyn thought he was an awesome traveller.

The sounds of some of the bushes rustling disturbed Glyn. He heard something from behind him and quickly turned to see what was there. The branches of the tropical underbrush shook around, and so Glyn had to peer up at the tree to see if Mathilda had gone somewhere. She still sat on top of the branch, peering down at Glyn and Kilohertz. Glyn squinted his eyes and bent over the bank to get a closer examination. He saw a single pair of red eyes, and a crooked yellow beak. The form looked kind of familiar, but it did not want to reveal its full form. It must have been the murkrow. Definitely the murkrow. What was such an animal doing awake anyway? "Go to sleep you," he handwaved the crow. He felt anxious to be watched by the crow pokémon. He assumed it still hadn't forgiven him about dropping one of the wind chimes yet. The animal disappeared at the sound of a larger animal approaching. Glyn's brows furrowed and he pushed himself to the bank on the other side of the pool. The larger pokémon was not a pokémon, however. From the same path that Glyn took appeared a kid, with sandy blond hair that looked slightly matted with the rain and a couple of pokéballs attached to his belt. His shoes had turned brown from trudging over the mud-turned track. He was definitely another starting trainer, and he looked a bit unsure of how to react to seeing Glyn taking a rest in the warm pool, and stammered out a short "hello".

"Hi," Glyn responded with equal brusqueness. He wasn't sure if he should have felt awkward or impressed that someone else found him in his discovered sweetspot. "What brings you to the garden of Eden?" he asked humorously. What would it matter, actually? He discovered this place, and he figured he should get to name it. Whoever hung these bell and chimes up wouldn't have bothered to give it a name to do it justice anyway. "Has its warm and therapeutic aura tickled your traveller's senses and lured you into this paradise?"
 

Abel Rhodes - Chapter 3 - Part 3

Abel continued to look at the other trainer, for it seemed the Spearow and Tympole belonged to him, in confusion as he began one of the most unusual conversation Abel had ever been a part of, although he had to admit that he liked the name Garden of Eden - it really captured the beauty of the place.
"Garden of Eden? I like that." he offered considering exactly how to continue the conversation, he had expected to find a fellow new trainer in distress not relaxing in a make-shift pool.
"My name's Abel, nice to meet you. Actually I heard you yelling something and thought you may have needed help, but that's clearly not the case. Are you a newer trainer yourself? There is a rather large group of us coming out of this particular area."

Abel was rather amused by the strange encounter, but his mind kept drifting to the intricate bells that hung even in this tucked-away part of the forest. Still, he was curious about this other trainer who seemed to be finding their meeting just as strange as he himself was.
Perhaps he'll want to battle? Or does he want me to leave?
 
Glyn Schaffer - Chapter 3 - Part 4

Glyn and Kilohertz glanced at each other momentarily. "Needed help? No. To the contrary, even," he responded to kid, who introduced himself as Abel. "Ah, well, my name's Glyn, and yes, I definitely am a new trainer, and so are you then, right?" he enquired. Obviously he was; the question was rhetorical, and he continued the conversation without waiting for an answer. He saw Abel before, actually. He was over in the pokémon centre in Dew Town, talking to that other kid: rainbow kid, oh yeah! "You must hail from Coriolis too, right? You were with that batch of trainers from yesterday, I believe. Well, so was I." Glyn's eyes flicked up to the sky. The rainfall became more intense. His clothes were still by the bank, and even though he had the luck that some overhanging canopy blocked it from direct rain, the droplets congregated on the broad leaves and fell down in thick drips over the stone anyway. He swam over to the bank and pulled himself onto dry land. He picked up his garments, with dark stains where the thick drops had hit them. "You wouldn't mind a little privacy, right? I'll be right back," he grinned. He went to his 'dressing room', a cluster of trees with low hanging canopy that obscured the view.

He returned after putting himself back into his normal wear: his khaki cargo shorts, and a white singlet over which he had a red-white-and blue plaid buttondown and his black brandless trainers. "Oh, by the way. I don't think I've introduced you to my team yet," he went to stand next to Abel and gestured a thumb sideways to the tympole in the pool. "Over there's Kilohertz, my starter," he gestured towards the Spearow in the tree next, "and over there's Mathilda," he said. The spearow bid them a short glance, but wasn't too interested in contact. "She's a little bit, err..." Glyn seesawed his hand, "She'll open up after a while, I bet. But how about you? What pokémon do you have? Maybe we could practice their battling skills. I mean, the first gym's behind this forest, right?"
 

CHAPTER.1// PART.1// Alex Raiyns [PokeCommunity.com] Pokemon: Journeys Through Novia (M) (IC)

It was midday and Alex sat on the porch in front of his house and stared at the little red and white sphere in his hand. Here he was, ready to become a pokémon trainer. Just to match Brody? No. Other reasons as well. He probably needed to get away from Coriolis. This town just wasn't... Wasn't doing it for him anymore. He was growing up and he needed space to do so. Even if he would miss his parents very much. Of course.

The pokéball in his hand gleamed in the sunlight. The sun was always strong here, unless it was stormy. That's Coriolis for you. That's what lures men like Brody's stepfather here. Alex snickered to himself. Enough pondering. Time to actually face the pokémon that would be his partner. He clicked the button and the ball opened up.

In a flash of white light, a small pokémon appeared in front of the porch. It shook its head, blinked and looked up at him with red eyes. It was blue and had a mask of black fur across its face.

"Riolu..." Alex said with a nod and a smile. "Nice to meet you, pal!"

Riolu promptly crossed its arms and looked away.

"Oh, you're gonna be like that? Come on, don't," Alex tried. "I'm not a bad guy, I want to be your brother in arms, you know!"

A sudden sting from blazingly red eyes told Alex that he had said something really offensive.

"Uh. You're... A pacifist?"

Riolu growled.

"What? Oh, don't let it begin like this, man."

The blue pokémon uncrossed its arms and walked closer to the boy, who started to feel a bit nervous. Even though it was rather tiny and young, it still had dangerous powers, right? Actually, who was he to believe he could just boss the pokémon around like that, even before they knew each other.

"I'M SORRY!" he exclaimed when Riolu stood right beside him and suddenly stuck a hand out. But it didn't hurt him. It just reached for the pokédex which was laying on the porch beside Alex. The little red machine glimmered almost like Riolu's eyes as the pokémon handed it to the trainer.

"What?" Alex was sort of perplexed, but picked the thing up and opened it. Immediately, it automatically read Riolu's basic information. It was no secret that pokédexes were quite extraordinary things and Alex wished that he was skilled enough to figure out how to merge some of its programs with his goggles so that he could use them as the pokédex... "Oh. Oh!"

The pokédex had suddenly showed him something that explained it all. "You are a girl!"

Riolu closed her eyes and crossed her arms again, but almost seemed to smile in a smug way. Alex let out a breath. "Haha, I can't believe I didn't think of that... But that's ok, totally ok! It'll be great to have a lady with me on the journey!"

The blue pokémon looked up, seemingly surprised that anyone would refer to her as a lady. She was a strong little fighter, that was what she had been told. Her new trainer smiled at her with an extraordinary number of teeth and freckles.

"I just hope I won't feel too bad about sending you out in battle. Gotta protect the ladies, you know?"

That comment cost him a bruised cheek and taught him that he probably wouldn't have to worry about those battles.
