Goodness, there's so much to say in the HGSS arc. One thing I must say: with Jasmine in Sinnoh, they're obviously setting her up with Volkner. I'm a little upset how they skipped through Togetic and into Togekiss. But, these are the only type of Togetic and Togekiss, with the best faces ever. You'll never see this family of this kind, since they're always happy and sweet-looking.

Things are starting to look intense later on though. An aged Lance (nice info on the history of the Pokethlon), the Sinjoh Ruins…would be nice to see Cynthia again. Or anyone else as cameos.

The second chapter to the B/W arc reminds me of a Tom & Jerry thing, Pokabu chasing after Zorua.

Very interesting to see Coronis bring this all ap. I have to agree on all these points, I haven't noticed them before. I wonder if they're losing their grip, or becoming overwhelmed? Someone said this has happened before with R/S, FRLG, and Emerald, but I feel this is worse than that. I still don't know what's going on with DP, why is the Platinum arc so separate from those two, where are the links between them, then they're all compounded by the HG/SS arc and now the B/W arc. I really think they can't keep up. The franchise as games are moving at an exponential rate that other media (apart from the anime) haven't caught on so quickly.

Nice to hear from Coronis how the later games have leaning more "Special"-like, paraphrasing as such.

And is there any reason why Jasmine came up in the conversation other than for ship tease? Because I read the summary and it just came out…random.

I sure hope that's setting up Jasmine and Volkner. I can't see her and Morty together.

Agreed. I mean, he's had that thing for years, how could he suddenly say that?

In a way, we can blame ourselves for having very high expectations.

That's what best-selling games do to you. And not just games, but any content that's in high demand because we like it so much. We want it to meet expectations or exceed them.

I've been suspecting the decline of Pokespecial for a while now; Coronis just shares my sentiments. Don't get me wrong, I still adore Pokespecial and Pokemon as a whole, but it has been over 10 years since our baby first graced the pages. That's a damn long time for any series to be around, let alone still retain its devoted fanbase, not to mention the new fans who keep popping up out of the woodwork.

For me, and I know for all the lovely people here, this is far from the end of the world. However, it does make me a little sad. As long as new Pokemon games are released, you can pretty much count on a new Pokemon Special chapter to be right around the corner, and I don't see the actual Pokemon franchise slowing down anytime soon. After the FRLG Arc (My favorite!) I kinda started losing interest. It's not the games; (although, for some reason, I'm not really that pumped for BW)It's more like the new characters and the actual Pokespecial plot itself. I often just go back and reread the RGB-FRLG arcs (Over the 4 years I've loved Pokesupe, I've lost count of how many times I've read the chapters!!)

I'm far from a literary critic, so I probably don't have the right to be spouting all of this "decline" stuff. I've just seen it in other animes/mangas, as well as other things. Inuyasha is a prime example of a once-brilliant series with a huge fanbase that just kind of ran too long. On the other side, another beloved series of mine, Sailor Moon(No laughing!!) lasted 5 "arcs" and ended on a high note, apparently ending at the perfect time and retaining its fans while continuing to add new ones.

What comes up must come down. Like I said, I really DON'T see Pokespecial ending anytime soon, although I do see it getting more crap for the things everyone mentioned above. I really do like the HGSS arc, even with all the holes, but I doubt I'll check in on the BW arc.

Oh, and BTW, Togetkiss just freaking TOTALLY made my weekend. That face is PRICELESS.

i always liked the jhoto trio (of course second to the kanto trio), so for hgss is really disappointing to me. the plot seems to be jumbled up and it makes no sense. silver's quest was to find the plates, but it barely took any time. they should have made it a little bit longer.it was sad how gold didn't know how to evolve togetaro. crys' journey confused me. did she fall in the tree first then battle ariana and arceus. or did she battle arceus first then get blown into the tree where silver finds her and battles ariana. but that doesnt explain why/how the 4 generals were watching her trying to capture arceus. i'm confused :(
also where is giovanni? silver's supposed to find him right?
i really wanted to see the kanto trio in this saga *sigh*

Think about it...if Viz ever starts working as fast as the guys in Japan are....the only problem with getting English PokeSpe will be affording it! (Rather than already owning all 8 volumes, and waiting until 2011)

If they're doing this all for the sake of catching up quickly to please the newcomers who are excited for B/W, I won't be happy about that. Johto is my most favorite region of all, really liked what the G/S/C arc gave, and it'd do injustice to have our finally-aged characters get the quick treatment and forgotten just like that. A lot of holes need to be filled in.

I agree with you. They seem to be pushing everything quickly to get to B/W. I personally thought it would take until at least a month longer for the B/W arc to appear. I also really hope that the older characters don't become forgotten. R/G/B/Y were my favorites.

I read somewhere that BW scored the first 10 out of 10 on the Famitsu game review or something for Pokemon. It probably has more to do with popularity of the new generation than anything else, which really, really sucks. Not that I'm trying to hate on Gen V, but if it means demoting characters...:/

Famitsu's not a reliable source--they always give the highest scores to Pokemon games--happened with every generation and its remakes.

Really though, what other game franchise (either well-known or not) do we know release best-selling games every single year?

I'm feeling the R/S remake hype to start by 2012, if not later. B/W itself has to sink in worldwide next year, so that's what 2011 will be (just like how 2007 was).


Look, we all thought it was too soon when B/W was announced back in February. Now we're thinking the same thing with the writers bringing out the B/W arc. This something that cannot be undone. The anime has already started on B/W. I bet they were forced to cut off the D/P saga suddenly, seeing that one was dragging for so long. Now the arcs before B/W will all be hurried. Just to catch up where the games are, seeing they are the driving force, they will rather ditch their current work and move on to the "latest and greatest". It's how I initially felt when B/W was announced...my favorite Gen II games, that just got remaked, were suddenly obsolete. Just like that.

However, our information comes mainly from Coronis and tidbits from the magazines that some of us reads. May I like to inform you that THIS IS NOT THE ENTIRE PICTURE WE'RE LOOKING AT. Our main info comes from hearsay, a biased opinion of a so called "authority figure" and snapshots of the plot that we're assuming to be the entire thing. The fact is, we don't know what the plot is at this point, except for a jumbled bunch of summaries that we got from Coronis. And we don't even know how legit this information is. Coronis even says that there is a contradiction in the magazines (one with Gold going home, the other with Gold appearing in the snowfield with the other dexholders). Plus, we have the entire conclusion to think of. The 3 dragons just appeared. **** is about to go down. There is an infinite amount of things that could happen. Looking back at the exposition of the manga, we can't say for sure it's even rushed; again, all we have is a general idea of what happens, not the details of it. I've seen thousands of series' ruined because of crappy plot development, rushed sequence of events, lack of character development, lack of an overarching idea, or theme within the piece of literature, but quite frankly, I see no hard evidence proving that the HGSS special is going down this direction. I can see a greater exposition building in the beginning, and a chance of an excellent showdown, character building, and a generally awesome conclusion that is a staple in ALL of the Specials.

Furthermore, let's examine the reasons that the writers may have rushed the releasing of the arc. They know that they're gonna have to release the B/W arc soon. So do they continue to release each and every piece of detail for the reader to know? No, instead they release a rather general summary or chapters that are more pertinent to the plot than are the others. For example, Crystal ending up in that tree. Any competent writer would NOT go "Crystal fighting Arceus -> OMFG SHE"S IN A TREE." A grade school student would see the fallacy in writing like that. That's just one evidence that they're skipping parts of the chapters and details so that they can release the B/W series in a more timely fashion. Looking back at the HGSS release date, that was back in freaking MARCH 2010, they've had plenty of time to write a full arc up to this point, along with the D/P and PT.

I'd like to see people stop whining about how the world's come to an end just because their misconceived notions of how the pokespecial somehow self destructed itself, when clearly, we're basing our judgments on BIASED and INCOMPLETE information.

i just wish the writers wont rush platinum and hgss just to try to start bw. get one arc plot 'perfect' and then work on another instead of writing everything at once where the plot and ideas will sure to be horrible

Okay, first off, Gold. Gold knows that your Pokemon are stronger when they are friends with them. But that doesn't mean he knows that there are evolutions that evolve at certain times or with happiness. Evolution is Blue's specialty not Gold's. I'm not saying he's got an excuse. I'm just saying the possibility is there.

Next, the alongside release. I'm thinking this is just Viz feeling guilty for being slow. Now I'm not gonna buy them right away unless they don't release anything past GSC. It's just good business work. It always has been.

Finally, the arcs are going fast. I think it's part advertisement, part time passing. The remakes only have so much new material. PokeSpe only has so much to work with here. Yes they probably are trying to get on the hype but do you blame them? This is their money. Besides, as others have said, all these arcs are a lot of work.

Let's just wait and see

Alot of people think that the manga sped up because of the new B/W hype.

It's not just the manga though.
I think the anime is having problems too.
Which explains why there was no mention of the Sinnoh Battle Fronteir.
Which sucks, because I wanted to see Ash Vs Dahlia. ;A;

Like I said before, I still have hope that the authors will correct alot of the rushed parts once serialized as a book.
Although, like I said before, this isn't the first time Kusaka and Yamamoto were rushed to complete certain manga arcs. (go look at the ending of FR/LG and Emerald and you can see in some parts what I mean.)

Ok, anyway.
You guys should know this by know that more than likely, manga arcs based on third versions of a game or remakes of a game will be shorter.
Remember the FR/LG, Emerald, and (more than likely) Platinum arc are based MOSTLY on the new stuff introduced in the games. That is why the content is so minimal.
FR/LG: Sevvi islands introduced= A small (yet important) plot centered around the islands.
Emerald: Battle Frontier introduced= The arc centers around the Battle Fronteir and Jirachi.
Platinum: Sinnoh Battle Frontier and Distortion World introduced= Plot taking place in the Battle Fronteir while looking for Giratina.
HG/SS : Route 47/46 introduced, Arceus event= Arc taking place exploring some of the new areas and centering around Arceus.

It will be difficult for a manga writer to try to make the story have enough plot, yet still sticking faithfully to the content in game.

Even though we credit coronis with alot of the info he translates for us, that doesn't make him a super authority or something.

Although, Please, Do NOT bash him. He only said he didn't like where the manga was headed, but that doesn't always mean he'll suddenly stop liking the manga.
(Although, there is ONE particular person on serebii and here that seems to like getting on people's nerves...I think those of you who spend your time on serebii manga forums know who I am talking about. ._. he even tried claiming that the games Pokemon Black and White were NOT part of the Pokemon main game canon...)
Without Coronis' translation and information concerning the manga, we would all be in the dark right now about what's going on, and I doubt anyone here has enough time and guts to buy a japanese magazine, scan pictures, and translate a complete summary for all of use. So be thankful that Coronis' has done us all a big favor.

I still want to know why Gold of all people decided not to let Togetaro participate in battles for a long time... (maybe he's an overprotective dad?)

Also, just today, I was watching the Pokemon anime, "Where no Togepi has gone before!"
That evil little togepi reminded me of Togetaro (I think it's the eyes).

Well, for me, I would like to see Green's supposed powers in Martial arts.
Seriously, he was training with Chuck. Shouldn't he know alot of cool karate and kung-fu stuff?
(I know in the GSC arc, in one particular panel, he was kicking someone, but it was off screen. )
