Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2

Pokemon Stadium is a game that was released in Japan on 1999, and everywhere else around 2000. It's a spin-off game that doesn't really have a storyline but rather, you progress by winning these 'Cup battles' in the Stadium, as well as the Gym Leader Castle.

At any rate, again, there are these pokemon tournaments that take place in the stadium in which they're divided into 4 cups, where each round consists of eight three-on-three battles, and the difficulty of these cups are named after Poké Balls (Poké Ball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, Master Ball), in which these are:

Pika Cup: Where Pokemon are around Lv 15~20, and we're allowed to bring pokemon that could evolve around that time.

Petit Cup: This is where basic pokemon do battle; that range around levels 25~30. They've only allowed pokemon that are 6'8" of height and less than 44 pounds!

Poké Cup: Where Pokemon battle that are Lv 50~55. Also the standard cup for all.

Prime Cup: Basically an 'Anything goes' cup where you're allowed to bring pokemon up to Lv 100!

The Gym Leader Castle is basically a place where you'd face the 8 Gym Leaders of Kanto, and eventually move on up to the Elite Four, and your RIVAL at the end.

If you beat all the opponents including your Rival, your pokemon will be entered in the hall of fame, and you can receive a pokemon to send back to your pokemon Blue, Red, and Yellow games! And the prize Pokemon can either be: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, Eevee, Kabuto, or Omanyte. If you beat the Pokemon Cups and the Gym Leader Castle, theeeeen you get to face off against Mewtwo. Mewtwo's pretty much the 'final battle' in Pokemon Stadium, where if you beat him, you can play the R-2 version of Pokemon Stadium, where the battles are tougher and the pokemon are meaner. owo

-----------

Pokemon Stadium 2 is the sequel to Stadium 1, where it also represents the pokemon from Johto! Like before, you progress through the game by winning Cups, and completing the new Gym Leader Castle, except this time if you beat both, you face off against your Rival.

The Pokemon Stadium Cups are pretty much the same except for the new Challenge Cup, where it doesn't allow you to utilise the Pokémon from your games, or rental Pokémon but instead gives you a selection of six randomised Pokémon while the opponents also get a random selection of the Pokémon.

Now, the Gym Leader's Castle is like before, where you'd have to face the gym leaders of Johto, where if you beat them, you can face the Elite Four, and Champion! Except this time, when you beat them, you can then battle the Kanto Gym Leaders, with pokemon trainer Red at the end.

Annnd then there's your RIVAL at the end. He has a Ho-oh, a Lugia, and a Mewtwo, so, you'll have to prepare for a preeetty tough fight, haha. But if you beat him, your pokemon will be entered at the hall of fame, and you can access Round-2! Oh, and on both these stadium games, there are mini-games too, just as a past time for you to take a break from the battling. :3

Anyway! This thread is a discussion thread about these two spin off games: Have you played the Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2 games? What were your experiences with them? Which Cup did you like battling the most? What kinds of pokemon did you use? How hard was these games for you? Any other thoughts, you can say so here too!

oooh I used to love these games when I was younger. I have a Stadium cartridge and rented Stadium 2 from Blockbuster for a few days so I never got to play everything on it.

I didn't have the GBA game adapter (whatever it was called) to hook up to the n64 controller or the GBA Pokemon games so I had to use Rental Pokemon. I can remember using Arcanine and Charizard specifically in a lot of the battles. I didn't get very far in the cups but I really liked the mini games like where the little Ratata ran on the track, the lickitongue sushi go round and the one with Chansey.

I have Pokemon Stadium 2 since I am a little kid :) and I bought Pokemon Stadium last year hehe :)

I was the cool kid in the block who had the Dodrio GSC mode for beating all the cups in R2. ^^

Let me tell you, it was hard, really hard. I ragequit many times.

But the fun in playing Stadium/Stadium 2 was of course to use your own Pokémon, In the Stadium 2 minigames, you could use your Pokémon, too. I liked using my Scizor in the log-cutting challenge. Bulbapedia says you could use Crobat in the Gutsy Golbat game but I don't remember being able to, even when Crobat was in my party.

I still have both games. It was cool because I could play my handheld games on my TV and see and battle my Pokémon in 3D. The minigames included with each version were fun.

I still have both games too! I used to looove playing them when I was younger, like I struggled with Pokemon Stadium 1 a lot, especially when it came to the Pokecup's Master Round, ugh. But still, the challenge was great and once I was able to bring over my pokemon from Pokemon Yellow, things were all set to go! Ah, so, the experience was great, and I loved the majority of the music:

Like the Prime Cup's Semi final music? Oh that was godly; I liked how they mixed it up with their own brand of music, alongside the remixes from the original main games, which was sooo awesome. Like, for example, the Poke Cup Semifinal's music was a redo from the Silph Co., and the Petit Cup Final Battle theme was from the S.S Anne, I think. But I thought it was all well done for the most part! :3

Playing Pokemon Stadium 2 was also amazing; love the redo of everything there, and the Gym Leader Castle's challenge was outstanding too. Though for it, I used to mostly use Rental pokemon until Round 2.. which was really hard, especially for the Rival's R-2 battle, haha. Which btw was crazy: our Rival had a Ho-oh, Lugia, and Metwo.. and it was Silver? o-o Wow.

Last semester I studied with the pokemon stadium OST ! I love a lot of songs from the game. I think I prefert the soundtrackt of pokemon stadium 1 than Pokemon stadium 2.

Haha back when I was a twerp kid I used to have the battle music for Earl's Pokemon Academy in Stadium 2 playing in my mind whenever I took a test.

I think taking the tests in Earl's Pokemon Academy actually fostered good study habits in me when I was in elementary school that lasted for the rest of my academic career. (Up until playing the Stadium games as a youngster, I had a bad habit of not paying attention in class as much as I should have, lol.)

My favorite tune in Stadium. :3

Personally I felt the first one had better music.

I have Stadium currently on n64, I'm planning on getting stadium 2, to have even more fun.
These two games were my childhood in the 64 era, and I played them till the break of dawn.

I only found out the other month about the Doduo and Dodrio GB Tower. Makes it far easier.

I loved these two games; easily two of my most favorites of Nintendo 64, for sure!

Personally, I have had both, and spent a lot of time under them almost every weekend. My favorite Pokémon to use was Charizard; its moves seemed to have been decent, and on top of this, I was extremely fond of its appearance, leading me into utilizing it. Due to similar reasons, I also found myself using Typhlosion, Blastoise, Venusaur, and Raichu; they were all amazing, at least in my eyes.

I loved the mini-games Stadium 1 and 2 had! If I remember right, there was something related to rolling Donphan on a track as a race of sorts, and that would be the one I was most fond of; whenever friends or cousins would come over to our house, I would challenge them to this match at least once.

When I played pokemon stadium(s) back in these days, I took the pokemon I like and everything was fine.

Now, when I want to take a pokemon and I look at his moveset... WHAT??? WHY?? WHY THIS MOVE???? IT IS NOT A GOOD SP.ATTACK POKEMON! It is harder to choose a pokemon lol.

These two games were my favorite N64 titles. I love them. Luckily, my N64 sill works and I still play them from time to time!

I never really did cups much, I just did free battles with friends or the gym leader castles as well as elite four members. It was a blast. I think Stadium 2 was my favorite of the two, but both were amazing. I remember coming home from my mall with Stadium 1 years ago and being so excited to get home and play it. So theres a big nostalgia factor attached to these games for me!

They were easy games, but still a blast to play.

Since I never had a Nintendo 64, I never got a chance to play either of these games. It was unfortunate that I didn't ever play them, because I know some people enjoyed them a lot at the time they were the thing.

So guys, what do you remember were your hardest battles in these games?

I think for me, it was the Pika Cup.. only because I mostly used Rental pokemon at the time, and ugh, there was a DRAGONAIR at level 20, as well as a GYARADOS that can learn HYDRO PUMP.. Like, isn't that overkill? D:

You could fish Dragonair at lower levels in Yellow.

Gyarados with Hydro Pump at level 15-20 is illegal. Though I'd be more terrified of Dragon Rage at such low levels.
