as the title says should it? yes or no and ur reason y.

Unlike many other drugs, marijuana has no real serious complications physically, as the right's propaganda would have you to believe, and can be used medicinally, as we have seen in some states and countries. We should decriminalize all drugs and move for harm reduction. We are the biggest jailers in the world and so many of our prisoners are drug offenders.

"Why is marijuana against the law? It grows naturally upon our planet. Doesn't the idea of making nature against the law seem to you a bit . . . unnatural?" - Bill Hicks

I know people who get high on crack and it annoys the hell out of me, but it's not all because of it. Still, it's bad in any case, and I think it should be illegal.

The fact that it's natural is no relevance: 90% of drugs are natural, it's the way we use them what makes it unnatural, and so, naturally, it must be banned.

I really feel that the majority of the people who do marijuana are simply doing it because it's illegal and they like the highs that come from it. (both the high of doing something illegal as well as the drug effect high)
If we simply made it legal, but had it controlled like we do with tobacco, then I think it would attract fewer smokers.

i can see that....but lets not forget its medicinal uses...it is a very powerful anti depressant and is the only know weapon to use against kemo. because it reverses the effects of keimo therapy. also...the increased money from its controlled use in taxes will boost the economy and overall jobs. it will open up a lot of farming and cultibvating jobs that would get many people who did it illeagily before jobs and honest money that will reduce the overall crime rate. i mean look at the netherlands. their crime rate is much lower than ours. y? because 90% of our crime is drug related. most of it because people are buying/ selling them ileagally. the way i see it, the positive comletely destroys the negative.

Bah... stop replying to each post. This is a poll, not a debate ^-^

I believe it should be legalized and regulated, in a similar manner as alchohol and tobacco. Marijuana, unlike many drugs, has beneficial effects which I think are enough to outweigh its risks. Also, this would reduce the problem of overcrowding in prisons, as less people would be going to jail for drugs. Those convicted would most likely be aquitted, giving more space for other prisoners.

Like alchohol, it should have a legal driving limit, and driving under Marijuana should be punished harder than drunk driving.

... This could've easily been a debate if it was made on the Other Chat. ;]

There are some pros and cons about Marijuana. One cannot just deny it.

Are you referring to chemotherapy? Marijuana is an anti-depressant for that? Hmm... interesting.

    There are two scenarios that could happen;

The first scenario is that marijuana is made legal. This can either increase or decrease the amount of users which the States are not willing to risk.

Second scenario is that it's illegal except in hospitals where it should be used. I personally like the second scenario because risking a risk for no reason is stupid, espeically when you have this option.

    I look at like this...

Basically you impair yourself like you would through alcohol if not worse and you get all the lovely health side effects that you would get from smoking, so... why would you want the worst of both worlds?

Erm... no? Honestly, I'm sure that many lives would be saved by keeping currently illegal drugs illegal. people, but

well since it has been moved now i can make it into a debate so...
Marijuana has been found to have no physical health risk. it does not cause lung cancer or effect the way u breath. it has been found to help reduce ur health risks if u drink and smoke. some people say that marijuana destroys brain cells. this is a myth. it actually puts a coating around the brain cells that will fade away in time if the person stops using it. this coating also serves as protection against more harmful drugs (such as alcohol) which destroy the brain cells. however marijuana does have some adverse effects. such as loss of memory and decreased reaction time and reflexes. so smoking and driving is actually dangerous. but all in all, marijuana is less dangerous than tobacco and alcohol. and since both of those r legal, i dont c y it is illegal. and believe it or not ladies and gentlemen it was legal at one time. but it was kinda stupid. u could posses a certain amount of it as long as u had an official stamp for it. but the only way u could get a stamp was if u already had it. so u nvr knew if u were having a party that night or would be in jail. it wasnt illegalized until the 30s when it became a "black drug". majority of the jazz bands smoked it, and so the black community in general used it. and because the government was highly anti black at the time, they illegaized it. it was also used as medicine by the slaves. they lived in terrible conditions and recieved little or no medicine from their owners. so they smoked it and suddenly felt better. also only about 1% of crime is committed by people who r under the influence or r trying to sell/buy cannabis. the way i see it, our government has too many real problems what with the failing economy as well as the frighteningly increasing rate of murders and sex offenders to be putting money into policing marijuana use when it could be bringing in money for bigger problems. so my final answer: YES!! LEGALIZE IT!!

ps if u disagree with me and want to argue privately then ur more than welcome to msg me!!:D

The only reason the illegal gangs are so profitable is because they control the drug industry. If the government starts controlling it by making it legal, all those gangs are gone, they have nothing to live off of. And the only reason that's it's such a big deal is because we can't control it. If drugs are legal, it's in good hands and can be used well. It can be monitored well and we'll see overall benefits for everyone. That being said, certain drugs can be used in medicine. It's not going to be chaos if drugs are legalized. I think we'd see good from it.

In a nutshell, that's why I think all drugs, not only marijuana, should be legalized. Although marijuana would be a good start.

Pardon the pun, but... what are you smoking? O_o

Marijuana smoke is more harmful than tobacco.

Also, even it temporary, it does impair you like alcohol does if not worse. We don't need more impaired drivers on the road

ill admit that we dont need anymore impaired drivers on the road, however the number would not go up since most people who would be smoking and driving are doing it any way....and plus THC makes u very lazy. most people dnt get up and go driving when they're high. they just dont. and ill find my link for the site with the stuff im talking about.

oh and ps.....as to ur question...guess...:D
