Post comments are back! REJOICE!

Wow.

Next time you should probably ask the community about removing things before doing it.

Would prefer to know what's going on in general. I know that h-staff tries to make the decisions they feel are best for the community, but at least having a thread open to the rest of the community to discuss the decision would be a good idea, just to understand how the people who are affected by whatever decision you're making will respond or if they care about it or not. You don't have to open the entire decision-making process to the public, but I visit another forum where the vast majority of decisions made are open to the people they affect and I think that's only a positive thing. It's not like the decision has to abide by what the public opinion is, but telling people before you guys make big changes like this both eases these changes into the community and makes it so you can judge general reaction.

I know that h-staff probably isn't apt to changing how things work around here, but that's just my opinion.

edit @ did not read those last two posts because my computer kept dying while i was trying to post this:

Problem is, there are just too many people and not all of them check CQ&F or Announcements, so it would be hard to get everyone to vote about everything all the time :\ Still, sometimes it could be used to gather ideas, even if it the result wouldn't be final.

the people who care will pay attention, if they don't then that's their fault for not paying attention/voicing their opinion. i'd still leave it up to h-staff entirely there because occasionally on a forum as popularity-based as this, the general opinion will simply be one person's opinion bandwagoned by about twenty other people, and often it won't be the best one. having a thread about major decisions where people can voice their input is nothing but a positive though imo, as long as they can accept that whatever conclusion they come to will not always be the final result.

I miss reputation abusing :(

Seriously guys, it's great the S-Mods reconsider, but I agree with why they wanted to remove it. Manipulation's post, whilst I presume was a joke (if not, you are a jerk, but then again, I've said that to you a lot in our lives), points out the point of why this may have been a good idea to remove, as people abuse whatever they are given, be it rep or post comments. So, maybe we should treat everyone better, eh? And as for some of the posts here, one or two have been kinda disrespectful towards the S-Mods, who do all they can for the forums. People, gain some senses, this is a site about Pokemon and fun. Well... It should be anyway.

This thread wasn't meant to turn into an argument, kay? D:

We had discussed it awhile ago, back then the choice was to kill 'em off. We figured that still held, and apparently not, so we gave them back since so many still enjoyed them. It was a mistake, we gave them back to apologize. The users that don't like post comments.. can go back to forgetting they exist. XD; meanwhile, having them them on isn't hurting the forums.

Hmm...

Well, I think someone here might like it, even though I never use it.

That said, it seems that the one and only negative comment that I have got for a certain thread got erased. Seems like the comments are going to get cleaned up or something.

...though I really would appreciate it if you guys added like a feature where members can disable having their posts being commented on, the same way we can disable our profile from being VM'd. I'd also appreciate it if we removed the anonymosity of post comments somehow... >.<

Whoo...I'm glad that the PokeCommunity staff reconsidered their decision and re-enabled Post Comments; thanks for that. Now the User Control Panel doesn't look so mysteriously empty! :cer_boogie:

Seems to me like it was a rash decision not at all thought through. I understand it "seemed" like the best option, so you did it, then realized you looked bad afterwards so removed the change. But the process should have been, you discussed and decided it was the best option, posted a poll, or even just a thread asking for feedback (And putting an announcement at the top of the forums like you do with everything else, which you don't seem to have any trouble doing), then making the decision based off that feedback.

Anyways, glad they're back, and hope nothing like this happens in the future.

inb4 20 negative post reps, lmao

Ooka seems to have the right say here. I'm not going to bandwagon and say the staff are terrible and whatnot for doing such a thing, but just for future reference.

Yayness.

Well I know this topic is old but seriously guys come on, I think it's admirable that the staff acknowledged the "mistake" and reversed it, and instead of h8in on that it was made, you should give them a little credit for considering that you all wanted it back and reversing it. Everyone is human here, give them a break lol.

If it's optional and we can see who left post comments, then how are they different to VMs or PMs? The point of them is to be anonymous if the user posting the comment wants them to be i.e. by not leaving their name. You can always hide the post comments section in your User CP so you don't have to read them, too.
