Is there anything that people (other people or yourself) include in their posts that kind of bother you? I was typing out a post and I wrote out "I mean," to lead up to further describing what I actually meant by an opinion I shared about something and I ended up just rolling my eyes and backspacing it out. I'm not sure why that bothers me so much.

Personally when I look at other's posts they can be a bit bothersome if they don't use punctuation and capitalization at all or if there are a ton of misspellings. Grammatical mistakes such as run-on sentences and the alike don't bother me as much because I know I am guilty of making those same mistakes as well. In the end everyone has their own posting style and I understand that the way others post and the way I post will always be bothersome to someone else.

Fancy formatting. Seriously, I know you think you look so great because you passed a CSS and HTML class but nobody really cares and it's usually more distracting than anything, and it often occupies more interest than the stuff you're even writing. Leave that stuff for the signatures, please.

On that subject, when fancy formatting goes wrong. As in like, yellow text or something because you JUST LOVE JOLTEONS. If I have to freaking select your text just to read it, then I already dislike you.

Oh my god, that just pisses me off so much. Like seriously, how in the name of whatever religious entity you worship could you possibly be so blind as to put a SPACE BEFORE A FREAKING COMMA?! AND WHAT SCHOOL DID YOU LEARN TO SPELL AT?! THEY NEED TO RETHINK THEIR EDUCATION SYSTEM.

*exhales* I get mad just thinking about it. Also, stuff like this:

i want 2 play this game i love pokemon but it wont work help also could you make it so i can catch rayqauza ?? thankjs

WHO TAUGHT YOU HOW TO TYPE?! DID THEY TELL YOU IT WAS OKAY TO PUT A SPACE BEFORE A QUESTION MARK AND THEN USE TWO OF THEM? BECAUSE IT'S NOT. IT NEVER HAS BEEN OKAY AND IT NEVER WILL BE.

    I just... UGH.

When people use text colors without realizing that they may have just made their text unreadable. This includes forcing your text color to black or white.

I should never have to highlight your text, and all users should realize that there's always some theme your chosen text color is going to be difficult to read in, and plan accordingly; especially in CSS box situations where there's a background specified but not a text color forced for readability.

If you plan your color choices carefully, you can avoid having an unreadable post. Just be sure to check your font against a few of the dark and light themes and make sure the choice you've made doesn't become unreadable. Usually Yellow, White, Grey, Lime, Purple, and Black are the most common offenders of being difficult to read. It's normally a good idea to preview your post and check against another theme after clicking the preview button if you're concerned that the text color you picked might be the background in another theme. Believe me; PC has a lot of themes, so figuring this out before settling on a color is usually a good idea if you're theming your text color too.

Haha, I sometimes forget to check my CSS on darker skins and on other web browsers. Though, I mostly do those those posts in trade/clubs/journals. :I

I can get a little peeved at posts with bright colored text, specific font families like cabin sketch, or excessive bold, italic, or underline. Seeing posts riddled with grammatical errors also makes me wonder just where did you pick up that typing style.

Oh, I'm not exactly fond of line stacking.
It always annoys me in chatrooms.

Bright colored text. It's ugly, obnoxious, and to me, it seems like something an 11 year old would do. We used colored fonts on Neopets. This is a big people forum. You can stop now.

Signing posts with your username. We see your username. There's no need to put it at the bottom when we can already see it and know who you are. The only exception is AFD 2013.

Using your in-game name in your challenge sign ups. Specific to challenges, yes. I hate when people put their in-game name, or basically anything that's not their username, in the username part of the sign up. What part of username did you not understand?

When people misspell stuff whether accidental or intentional (still don't see why it's so hard to type out you instead of u. Two more letters won't kill ya). It gets to me so much, probably cuz I love writing and an anti conformist, so when people misspell stuff, I go ballistic.

    *write/*type ;]

I don't get too peeved when people make silly spelling mistakes, because I make them all the time! The only time I will get a little annoyed is when someone uses some ridiculous font or colour; or, if they constantly SCREAM AND SHOUT AND LET IT ALL OUT.

Numbskulls using hashtags outside of Twitter. #abusehashtags

Also pretty much everything mentioned in this thread, such as downright unreadable grammar and overuse of formatting.

Eh, most of my posting peeves have already been mentioned in here, so I guess I'm just gonna parrot some of these :p A lot of these don't count for stuff like VM's and chat messages though, because I kinda take posts much more seriously for some reason :p

Not anything I have a problem with per se, but I just find CSS in random posts to be kinda out of place. I mean, it makes sense to see them in stuff like opening posts for clubs, challenges, trading shops and for posts in RP's, official rules and stuff, because it's something that draws the attention and can really spice up things, which just generally helps with that type of posts. But when it's just some random post in, say, Chit Chat and Polls, I just don't feel like it fits in. It's not like I hate it or anything, and it doesn't mean I'm not gonna read the post. It's just... OCD man.

This one has also been mentioned a lot of times, but intentionally spelling something wrong, or abbreviating words like you to u and to/too to 2 (that's a lot of to's/too's/2's there ;D) and whatever other crazy abbreviations people can think of, or when people type in all lower case letters. This doesn't bother me too (one more) much, because I do it in chats and stuff too, but I just don't really like it on forums, especially because it doesn't take too long to type out a simple word like you, and yeah. Just not in posts :p Contrary to most people in here though, I don't have much of a problem with people misspelling stuff, as long as it's unintentional, because.. come on, not everyone has it easy with spelling, and doing a flip because they can't spell otorhinolaryngological correctly just isn't really fair to them :p And well, it just doesn't annoy me that much because I'm pretty used to seeing it ;)

Certain fonts and colours are on of the things that can really annoy me though. I really hate it whenever I want to read someone's post, but they're using yellow text colour and I'm using the Stand Nexus theme so the background is white and I'm on my phone so I can't highlight stuff and the post has a trillion likes so I just want to read it even more and then the font is also cabin sketch and just.. Come on man, be fair to me :(((((

Also Been Mentioned Before, And Probably A Pet Peeve Many People Have, But When People Capitalize The First Letter Of Every Single Word, Whether It's Because They Think It Looks Cool Or Because They Think It's Grammatically Correct Or Stuff Like That... It Just Gets Annoying To Look At :p

I guess that's about the worst of it. I had one more stuck in my head throughout the entire post, but now I just can't remember what it is. Guess I have enough on here as it is anyways :p

What drives me insane is that I use the word "though" a lot and I don't even realize it until I re-read my posts and by then I don't feel like editing.

the only thing that makes me annoyed at the post itself is when they make it unreadable, or when they use "Animuland" Japanese in sentences those bakas.

For the content, I really get annoyed at really immature a-ramblins (which are usually mine ;() but that's pretty much it. I usually deal with it by leaving the thread and not coming back for an hour or two.

It Irritates Me When I See Text Like This So Much That I'm Gonna Kill Myself Just For Typing This.
    Unless it's for titles.

Also, texts like this isn't cool at all!!!!!!!! Why don't people understand the stupid repeated punctuation marks get so annoying???????? And still they do it a lot.................

but i don't have a problem with this kind of text lowercase is so cool tbh unless im not using punctuation marks im sure i am am i

But all that aside I don't quite like to colour my text nowadays... I understand that my Deep Sky Blue text may have gotten into your nerves, so I chose this neutral grey. It's perfect tbh (comment on this post if I'm wrong)//

Alright, so the next few problems based on content.

The posts which keep staying on a certain topic only, and superlate that to the highest level so as to bring an argument down, or an argument up.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about.

    Example:
Suppose some guy made a signature and posted in the Rate the Signature of the Person Above You! vX thread in FG.

    Bad comment:

    Example:
At first sight, the signature looks beautiful, but one problem is that the colours are too dark. I can't see much out of the details, so please make the colours lighter. You see, the colours aren't really blending well with the dark theme. The darkness of the picture is also getting on my nerves. So I can't really say the artwork is good I give a 5/10.

Aand a good comment would've been this.
signature! It's beautiful. I like the outlines ...(insert more appreciative comments here)... but the colours seem too dark. I mean, it's not a big problem but that makes it look a bit off. So I have to give a 9/10.[/example]

I'm so sorry to go off-topic with the sig thing, but you should get what I mean.

Then the last main one being, suppose the above few posts were providing a healthy discussion, and suddenly barging in out of nowhere to change the topic. I know most discussion threads have rules against it, but it is still common in the not-so-discussion-like-but-still-interesting threads.

    And more forum-specific peeves.

tl;dr - You should all follow my rules since I demand it and not make any of the mistakes given above. That totally is against the law and you will be banned from me if you do so, and you will live to regret my rejection of your attitude. My word is law, and you should follow my orders. So get up on your feet and post with flawless grammar, no spelling mistakes, perfect punctuation marks and top-notch posts, whilst remembering to keep the topic on topic.

i don't mind people writing in all lower case, BUT I DO MIND WHEN IT'S ALL CAPS.

    #i #hate #it #when #hashtags #are #used #out #of #context And When People Capitalise Every Single Word.

On a more serious note, when I use the same sentence starter throughout posts really ticks me off. Really I need help with that as it starts to become tooth-grindingly repetitious.

The posting peeve I have is when people cannot post with proper grammar. It's not Facebook or any other social media site, which I'm fine with people using improper grammar over there. These are message boards, and even though they're online, they're meant to be more formal than a little status you post about yourself. And to go along with the grammar aspect of my reasoning, I also do not like it when people "Always Have To Capitalize Every First Letter Of Each Word In Their Post" or "when they separate the last word from punctuation like this !", it's just very improper grammar to do that.

Format abuse, bad CSS, incomprehensible phrasing... pretty much anything that severely hinders my ability to understand a post at a glance. I'm pretty lax about grammar and spelling because wow how many acronyms/abbreviations/typing shortcuts do I use? A frick ton. And how many grammar rules do I follow? Like none. Spelling is kind of a different deal because of homophones... mixing them up makes a world of difference to your conveyed meaning. Generally though, if I can understand a post without much effort it's fine.

Personally I tend to type how I speak/how the thoughts run through my head. Essentially the same thing there. Even my giant essay posts and blogs tend to be train-of-thought. I don't really put too much effort into composing posts because I view topics more as conversations than anything. And I no longer have to think as much about how my post may be interpreted or if I'm conveying what I want because I've gotten used to the format and how I can express myself with limited means. I think I'm pretty clear about things. Haha you might be able to tell: I value clarity over everything else.

Not a lot of stuff ticks me off, because on Tumblr, which I spend a lot of time on, typing with horrible grammar and spelling is the norm, so I'm used to it. Most people there don't do it because they don't know how to type properly, they just do it cause it's funny.
I guess really bright colors are obnoxious, they make my eyes hurt.

The only thing that annoys me is the different forms of English that some people use. I wish we could all use the same English! Only so that we can put the favour out of favor.
