6th Gen PSA: Pokemon Bank Event Celebi

Not sure if everybody except me already knows this, but if you download Pokemon Bank (it's free!) on your 3DS before September 30th 2014, you get an event level 10 Celebi. You must deposit a Pokemon from X or Y (and either buy a year pass [$6.50 AUD] or be on the 30 day free trial) in order to receive said Celebi. I'm doing it as I type. Thought I'd let you all know, y'know, in case you didn't.

It's good that, even if people already knew about it, you posted this reminder because as you said the offer is expiring in just a few short days so it's a really good thing you reminded people who still may be on the fence about it! :-)

I already have Celebi in my game (which was given by a friend), so I personally haven't looked into this event much, sadly, but I'm glad that it exists, so that everyone else has a chance to get a hold of this Pokémon themselves.

This is the only Celebi giveaway for the current gen, however it was available since Pokebank became available (Dec 2013 in Japan, Feb 2014 in North America, and not sure when for the rest of the world) so it has been available for many months, that may be why it seems like the giveaway happened before as well.

Just thought id state there is no free trial. They ended those a long time ago. You now have to buy pokebank to recieve the Celebi.

Oh really? That's a shame. :( Thankfully the subscription is only $6.50 or so, and it's 365 days worth! Not a bad deal for a Celebi and very manageable Pokemon bank! :P

You're welcome! I saw the event whilst I was looking up details about Pokemon Bank and just thought if I was only just finding out, there would be a small (or large) percentage of people who didn't know about it either. :)

$5 to store over 3000 pokemon. This is really helpful especially for collectors/competitive players that do a lot of breeding and need multiple version of the same pokemon. In my view I blow off $5 less than I would buying soda, chips, and other stuff.

Nuff said ;) Amen. Unfortunatly i cannot remember my eshop account that i bought Bank with so i have to spend 5 more dollars to get it again. Sucks that i wont be able to get it before Celebis event ends. But luckily i still got mine.

Thanks for giving this PSA. I'm going to tell my friend about who was unsure about whether to buy Pokebank. I don't think the Celebi itself is worth buying it for, but if one is planning on buying it anyways, they should definitely do it now. :D

Ya know, I forgot that this event was still going on. I got my Celebi months ago, and events usually don't last anywhere near this long. So then, why is this one lasting so much longer than events typically do?

It has an attack called Hold Back that it can't learn normally. That would be the only other reason besides if your a event pokemon collector. But Pokemon Bank is totally worth it if you are breeding alot for Masuda shinies or just want one of every pokemon along with every shape, size, and color like me or you just want every Spinda pattern there is. Also the plus side is you can pokegen pokes with legit stats and moves and transfer them into XY with poketeleporter app that comes with it if your into that kinda thing.

I think it was mainly to give people the chance to recieve it. Its Gamefreaks first program you have to purchase to recieve the event(besides buying the actual game).

It was honestly the sole purpose of me buying PokeBank haha. I don't use it, I don't even have Celebi in my party because I can't find a place for him right now. I do, however, have bragging rights over my friend who wants Celebi pretty badly. He keeps trying to trade me my Celebi for [insert ANY Pokemon name here], but I'm adamant that it's not for trade.

Product promotion probably. As someone else mentioned, it's the first time you can buy something like this. The 30-day trial was a good way to test it out and get the Celebi for free; however, it's still a perk for buying Bank later. Now there'll be a mad rush from all the individuals who never got it before to get it today. It might also be the deal breaker for some people getting Bank: they want Celebi, not the program.

All comes down to publicity and monies.

OMG. I completely forgot, thank you for the reminder!

For those who purchased Poké Bank and are not sure what to do remember to do as follows:

1. Download Pokemon Bank from the Nintendo Store
2. Access the application, and set up your bank account.
3. You'll be given a choice to receive 100 pokemiles or 10 BP from Brigette. Choose whatever you want, and after this choice, save, quit, and go back onto Pokemon X/Y
4. On the opening screen of Pokemon X/Y, open "Pokemon Link" (green button at the bottom)
5. Select "Yes" to "retrieve data using Pokemon Link"
6. You should receive your 100 pokemiles/10 BP
7. Now, go back into the pokemon bank app and repeat steps 3-6. Brigette will give you the Celebi instead :)
