Quick Question and Answer Thread / Breeding Questions

Roselia's the only parent that learns through level up. Jumpluff and Cherrim line can pass down the move as well through chain breeding.

so breed a roselia with a jumpluff/cherrim and it will be able to pass the move onto chansey?

28 HP / 252 Atk / 228 Spe

HP: Use 2 HP-UPs for 20 HP then go faint 2 Bidoofs with macho brace for 8 EVs

Spe: Use 10 vitamins for speed for 100 speed EVs. Then travel to Eterna City and battle the magikarp trainer with 6 magikarp for 60 EVs. Then do it again. You will have 220 EVs. Then use old rod in the water to battle 2 more Magikarp with Macho brace on.
I don't use the macho brace so, This may be wrong. I believe with the macho brace + pokerus on a magikarp you need to faint either 38(For 152) or 63(For 252) of them. I'm not sure about that completely. Your best bet would be to open the calculator and for every magikarp you faint add 100+4= 104, then click equal and it will go to 108 and then count like that. That's what i do. Sorry i couldn't help you there.

Att: Travel to the Resort Area and use the super rod in the water to the north near the grass and just kill as many Gyarados as you like till you think youve killed enough for the EVs.

(Sorry, But do you only have 1 power item? If so then you would need to kill more then what i stated there)

Well I have a Power Weight, Macho Brace, Power Belt and Power Band.

What would be the highest IV for attack from a totodile with an Adamant nature? And does gender effect anything? Also is it best to find perf IVs if you EV train to 100 the pokemon you're breeding and it has that nature and its a female with everstone and it is breeding with the same pokemon of male gender with same nature as female and EV trained to lvl 100? Will that help with finding the perfect IV along with both of them best friends with you.

Tad confused - IVs can range from 0 to 31 no matter what the nature is - you can, say, have a Modest Totodile with a 31 IV for attack.

What natures do is give a 10% increase and 10% decrease to the stat itself, rather than affect EVs. As for what are the max stats Totodile can have...well, look here: https://www.serebii.net/pokedex-dp/158.shtml Bottom of the page is a list of what Totodile's stats will be (including EVs and IVs, I believe?), if it had a beneficial/hindering/neutral nature. (Difference between max and min stats at level 100 is 94 - 63 from max EVs and an IV of 31, to no EVs and an IV of 0, for the same nature). (BTW, you can check the stats for any Pokekom with the site as well - and there are some others around as well, I suppose).

EV training to level 100 has no impact on the IVs and hence how IV breeding works either. I'd suggest searching for an IV/EV guide - easy to do via google. IV breeding works on having the parents with a few good stats with high IVs between them - they do not have to be trained one bit, as it has no effect on the outcome. Neither does them being friendly with you have anything to do with it.

Quick question on EVs.

If I'm EV training my Gengar for SpAtk with a Power Lens, and I fight a trainer with two level 50 Alakazam for 6 EVs, would I get a total of 14 EVs? I'm a bit new to this, but I think I've almost got the gist of it.

Not counting pokerus? Yes or no?

Nope, no PokeRus (unfortunately).

But yes, I think you're right. It is 14 EVs because Akakazam is 3 SpA EVs + 4 from power lens* = 14. So yes you're right.
(I said pokerus by mistake, I ment power lens)

I got a 10 ANIV celebi from trade with ID 00010 and a lv100 10ANIV(No space)Celebi with the same ID no. from the GTS. So are they both legit or is only one of them is legit?

I know that you can't migrate Pokemon from an English R/S/FR/LG/E to a Japanese D/P/P, but can you still activate the Dualslot Pokemon by having an English GBA game in Slot 2 and a Japanese DS game in Slot 1?

I might be wrong on this, but I am pretty certain that the Dual Slot feature requires both games to be the same language. It should at least be the same case as Pal Park, anyway.

The only 10th Anniversary Celebi released is the one with a space in the OT, so yes, the one without any spaces is hacked.

I need help with that. I have a Power Weight and a Macho Brace and Pokerus. What pokemon are recommended and how many should I kill and vitamins how many should I use for attack HP and Speed.

I'll be detailing the most efficient way. Pay close attention now.

Step 1 - Preparation

-- Infect the Pokemon with PokeRus.
-- Use 2 HP Up.
-- Use 10 Protein.
-- Use 10 Carbos.

Now you should have 20 HP / 100 Atk / 100 Spe.

Step 2 - 8 HP / 2 Atk

-- Equip a Power Weight.
-- Defeat 1 Machop (and gain 8 HP / 2 Atk).

28 HP / 102 Atk / 100 Spe

Step 3 - 150 Atk

-- Equip a Power Bracer.
-- Defeat 15 Machop (and gain 2+8 Atk per Machop).
Spoiler:

28 HP / 252 Atk / 100 Spe

Step 4 - 120 Spe

-- Equip a Power Anklet.
-- Defeat 12 Magikarp (and gain 2+8 Spe per Magikarp).
Spoiler:

28 HP / 252 Atk / 220 Spe

Step 5 - 8 Spe

-- Equip a Macho Brace.
-- Defeat 2 Magikarp (and gain 2x2 per Magikarp).

Goal reached: 28 HP / 252 Atk / 228 Spe

Rare Candies.

Are they worth using?
Like if you already EV'd your Pokemon and it's level 50.
Would it be bad to just level it up to 100 with Rare Candies?

If they're already fully EVed, there should be no problem using the Rare Candies to get them to lv. 100.
The only problem I see is getting those rare candies in the first place.

Well I can clone.
So i't not hard. :p
But thanks for the help. :)

Here is something I have been wondering about.

If I EV trained one of my monsters early on, and now they are at level 50, will they have the same stats as if I kept training them to 100 and then they were bumped down back to 50 (say for battle tower or something of that sort)?

I am wondering because I heard somewhere that even when you are done EV training the effects won't fully kick in until it is trained up completely.
