Quick Question and Answer Thread / Breeding Questions

Question

Ok, so I've unfortunatly lost my Pearl game and I don't think I'll be seeing it any time soon. Is this a particular disadvantage to me when I get Platinum? Will everyone be transfering their pokemon across?

I would be a little flustered if I lost the progress I had in Pearl, as it has helped me complete about 75% of my Platinum Pokedex. I don't think it puts you at a disadvantage but it definitely will slow you down unless you get lucky with friends and GTS trading.

I don't know about you guys but most of these questions can be answered by googling

I used google... And it brought me here. Lol. But in all seriousness, this is what this thread is intended for- redundent, noob like questions.

A good site for additional DPP reference is www.psypokes.com

They have a pretty comprehensive explanation of IV's, EV's, movesets, natures, EV training, etc etc. Ive been reading up on it the last couple of days, and its really helpful.

other starter pokemon?

when i started playing pokemon diamond, i thought......i should start training a new pokemon (not a starter). then when i got platinum, i trained a starly until i was far enough to catch a zubat (not too far from beginning). i beat the elite four a few times now but what iv'e noticed is that before my 3rd gym battle (maybe before my 2nd), i had a crobat. when people ask me what my starter was, i say chimchar but really, it's my zubat because my chimchar is still a monferno.

have any of you guys ever caught a pokemon and stuck with it until the end? if you have, what pokemon?

Yeah, Gible, after the wnd badge, So powerful: At the beginning, dragon rage 1hitKO'ed all foes. Their HP increased, but by that moment I had my gabite to pwn them with Slash, and eventually dragon claw and dig. I noticed my garchomp was at level 50+ before going up to the Spear Pillar (if it's called like that), so I had to leave him in the box to give the chance to my other underleveled pokemon. Also found Staraptor incredibily good in other opportunities.

my yellow's nidoran --> nidoking...

i beat the whole league on my first try at age 9, and accidentally killed mewtwo with a horn drill :D

at the time i didn't know what a one-hit-ko was, i just thought that my nidoking was like, uber-pwnage-rapiststatus-strong, and i didn't think that the uber-strong mewtwo would get killed in one hit...

i thought he'd end up red :D

and i didn't even care because my nidoking landed four out of five horn drills, best pokemon ever!

Well For me i used Action Replay Code
To Catch a Miltank >3 I Really Love that Pokemon
It's lvl 55 and my Piplup is just like something 35?
xD.. >3 Hope you like mine *giggles*

When I got Platinum, I heard about Porygon in Veilstone City beforehand, so I pretty much rushed through everything until I got the little guy, and then I shelved my Prinplup and went through the game, me and my newfound buddy (which I evolved into Porygon2 early in the game in order to minimize the friendship loss) went through the game without a care in the world. It was the most fun I had in a Pokemon game, EVAR!

okay quick ev training question. If I'm ev training for good stats at lvl 50 will I come to the same result if I start ev training at lv 28 or lv 38? meaning will the stats be the same by the time I reach lvl 50? I ask because I know ev's are spread through all the way to lvl 100.

oh and another question. If I have a pokemon that's good in sp atk and speed but has a pretty low defense, which nature would be better to pick + sp atk - spd, or + sp atk -Def I know modest or timid would be the better choice but these are the ones I have to choose from. please and thank you.

Mew and Mewtwo are still my favorite Pokemon from back in the day. However, I am going to have to trade for them when I finally get my Platnium.

Are they worth having on my team? Or are they considered weak now?

They're usually considered 'uber', which means they're too strong compared to other Pokémon stat-wise (and move-wise). As such, they're generally banned from competitive battling; however, they're very good in-game (but hard to train). Whether they're banned or not will depend on the person you want to battle.

Okay thank you! My last 2 questions (for now) are...

I am planning on playing through the game and getting my National Dex before I start battleing and trading online (this is why I want to play Pokemon). I understand EV's, Shiny Pokemon, and things like that. But what are event pokemon and how do I get them (other than trading for them)?

I assume there are events that the makers of the game have and they give away free Pokemon but how do I know when these events are and how do they work?

Second, I understand that once I complete the game I can use a GBA game to get more Pokemon onto my Platinum...which game should I get (isn't there like 5 or 6)?

I think i can answer this one. though im no expert. there are 5 games though as you should know most of them have 2 or more copies which are virtually the same. Ruby and Saphire are the same game which feature Hoenn pokemon. But i recommend Emerald since it is both those games with added features. and if you want the classic pokemon like squirtle and charzard and other johto pokemon then get either firered or leafgreen

I hope i helped

i think my question was passed so I'll ask again.

1st. You can ev train at any level as long as there are no EVs in the stats to begin with. So basically if you have an untouched level 99 pokemon and you give it 252 speed, 252 att, 4 hp it will all go into its stats when it levels to level 100.

2nd. Usually always go with modest if you're making a special attacker as it's not gonna need that -atk anyway. Sorry, Go with the negative defense one. It would be better in my opinion.

I have stuck with my Piplup in Pearl and never evolved it. I still have it and it conquered the Elite Four like never before.

One of my questions was answered. I will likely start backwards and work that way (Platinum, Emerald, and finally FR/LG...still not sure which one).
