Quick Question and Answer Thread / Breeding Questions

Im such a newb to the games...

I recently aquired Diamond. Can I connect to and battle people who have Pearl? Sorry if this is the dumbest question ever:)

The answer is yes. Same goes for Platinum.

Do the hatching effects of Magmar and Macargo stack? Like if you have multiples in the party, will an egg hatch even faster?
Noppers. It would be awesome though, hey? ;D

Nah, sorry, it won't. The poke with Magma Armor / Flame Body has to be in the first slot of your party for the ability to take effect.

I'm SR for a shiny rotom. whenever i load the game the journal keeps coming. i want to disable it. can I?

and also, whats the best balls to catch rotom? if i am at eterna city right now. nest balls?

Nest Ball only Works well on Rotom if ur Pokemon is like Lv.50 ~ Lv.60. U might rather use a Status Affecting Pokemon like Budew to Affect rotom with Status Problem and catching Rotom using Pokeball. Among other Legendaries. rotom isnt a hard pokemon to Catch lol

About the Journal Thingie. it Appears normally to anyone if they didnt play their game for a day. theres no way to disable it

My Question: I just want to know about this Mysterious Move: Psywave.

it always hits at Neutral Damage. and its Base Power is Unknown. does its Base Power Depends on something?

The only advice I have for the journal is to just hit A when it comes up.
I turned on my Platinum to figure out how to disable the journal, but it doesn't pop up for me anymore.. hm. To catch Rotom, Nest balls are fine considering it's only at level 15 when you run into it.
But if you can, try to get some Great Balls or Ultra Balls.

Rotom isn't a legendary..
About Psywave, for every level your Pokemon grows, the attack gets a little stronger.. by about 1-2 points.

Edit ; Did a little more research.. It has to do with the user's HP and their level..
So say you had a level 100 Misdreavus with HP of 324, Psywave damage could be anywhere between 1 HP and 486 HP.

Its platinum, so its level 20. i have a budew anyway since i take a roserade. but normal pokeballs seem to perform better than nest balls... anyway thanks. ill keep SR. its freakin' annoying. its kinda for getting me ready for giratina. (now that looks like blowing your brain off)

and rotom isn't a legend, but strangly the D/P booklet says it is..

and still it has the legendary music in plat.
well we are offtopic here.. sorry ><

EDIT : oh yeah, i have a question about two moves.
if a pokemon uses quick attack and the second one uses sucker punch, who will strike first?

This is not right. You press B to make the Journal go away. A just flips to the page before.
Also, to disable the Journal, you just need to have been playing for at least every other day. The journal only appears upon loading having not played for two days in a row. You can make it go away by saving.

Also wrong. It is not based on HP. It is based on level. It does anywhere between half to 150% the user's level. So if you had a level 100 Misdreavus and it used Psywave, it would do between 50 and 150 damage. The damage will round down, so a level 99 Misdreavus will do between 49 and 148 damage. A level 1 Pokemon will ALWAYS do 1 damage (it doesn't round down to zero).

Cresselia has normal battle music, but it's a legendary ;~;

Sucker Punch and Quick Attack are both Stage 1 speed, meaning the faster Pokemon will make the first move.

If I'm right, Sucker Punch should hit first because the other Pokemon intended to attack.

Another option would be that the Pokemon with faster speed strikes first.

Gracias muchacha. One more dumb question... Is it possible for me to get my pokemon from Cyrstal to Diamond. EX Crystal-Emerald-Diamond? Thanks again

Anything before the GBA games are incompatible with the DS games.

Is it possible for me to Pal Park pokemon from ROM hacks?

They CAN be used in battle against D/P, just not Wi-Fi.

The people of Smogon discovered this shortly after the game's Japanese release.

I myself have tried all the new formes at least once against my Brother's Diamond.

Basically, they look like the original formes to the person with Diamond or Pearl, but their Abilities, Stats, and Typing are that of their new formes.

Platinum Orb(Forgot its Stupid English name) cannot be Stolen, Tricked, or Knocked Off, similar to the Plates when on Arceus. Gamefreak most likely did this so that Origin Forme could be used in Local Wireless like the 6 other new formes.

The reason why I'm stating this is because I've seen many people that think that they are completely unusable against D/P

Who moved this? I was Stating something, not asking a question :/

During the transition from the GB games (R/B/Y/G/S/C) to Gen III (R/S/E/FR/LG), the game's code had a near complete re-haul with changes like the 510 EV system, natures, abilities, higher IVs, and a revamped shiny system. So, no.

Short and sweet version: No.

Thanks! But is Crystal compatable with the GBA games?

No.

1st and 2nd Gen games can only work with other 1st and 2nd Gen Games (With some requirements when tradeing for GSC to RGBY)

These game are all compatable with each other:

Set 1:
-Pokemon Red Version
-Pokemon Green Version(Japan Only)
-Pokemon Blue Version
-Pokemon Pikachu Version (Pokemon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition in US)
-Pokemon Gold Version
-Pokemon Silver Version
-Pokemon Crystal Version
-Pokemon Stadium (Japan Only)*
-Pokemon Stadium 2 (Pokemon Stadium in US)*
-Pokemon Stadium GS (Pokemon Stadium 2 in US)

*Only works with 1st gen

Unlike 3rd and 4th Gen games, they can not trade between regions (EX: The Japan-Only Green cannot trade with an English Red)

Set 2:
-Pokemon Ruby Version
-Pokemon Sapphire Version
-Pokemon Fire Red Version
-Pokemon Leaf Green Version
-Pokemon Emerald Version
-Pokemon Diamond Version
-Pokemon Pearl Version
-Pokemon Platinum Version
-Pokemon Box: Ruby and Sapphire*
-Pokemon Colloseum*
-Pokemon XD: Dark Winds, Dark Lugia (Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness in US)*
-Pokemon Dash**
-Pokemon Battle Revolution***
-Pokemon Ranch (My Pokemon Ranch in US)***

*Only Works with 3rd Gen
**Only works with Emerald
***Only works with 4th Gen

Enlgish Ruby can Trade with Japanese Sapphire, Enlgish Diamond can trade with Japanese Pearl, but English Ruby CANNOT transfer to Japanese Diamond.

EDIT: Beaten. And I made it long and fancy, too :<

If I had a Pokemon holding a Flame Orb and used Psycho Shift, would I keep the power boost that comes with the Flame Orb?
And also would the Burn status come back the next turn?

Thanks. :)

There is no benefit from Flame Orb other than being burned. All Pokemon that can learn Psycho Shift seem to not be able to gain any benefit from being burned. You might be thinking about how Pokemon with Guts or Quick Feet benefit from it (none of them can learn Psycho Shift).

Yes, it will come back as long as your Pokemon is holding the item.
