Quick Question and Answer Thread / Breeding Questions

Which one is better? Gardevoir or Gallade?

That's your opinion. If by battling, a Gallade would be good unless it's a Ghost or Flying type. Gardevoir is good because she has fewer weaknesses and also has a high Defense/Special Defense stat....I think.

Breeding Issues

Hello to all.

I've got an issue right now on my Platinum that I am hoping someone can shed some light on.

Got a Female Sneasel off the GTS from Japan, so it is a Foreign Language and it's nature is quite good for an attacking Weavile. I put an Everstone on it as while it's attack IV was high, the rest were garbage. So I put an Everstone on it and currently trying to breed it with a Male from my game that has good IVs in everything else.

Problem is that none of the eggs that have hatched at all (and I soft reset 5 times for the first one) are Adamant Natured Sneasels.

Any thoughts what is going on here would be GREATLY appreciated.

Nothing is wrong, you are just unlucky, simple as!

One, using an Everstone will not work on parents from two different countries, such as is your case. Two, soft reseting on an egg will not reset the Nature, as that is set in stone as soon as the Day-Care Man has it.

Everstones don't work with Pokemon that don't have your ID No.

No, the two Pokemon specifically need to be from two different countries. Simply having different ID numbers does not matter.

Is this Platinum only or the entire trio of Gen 4 games?

Reason I ask is that on my Diamond, I've got a box full of Naive Trapinch I helped breed for this guy using a Ditto he gave me so it also didn't have my ID number but the Everstone trick worked.

Thanks Forci. ^_^

Okay, so here is a question...what are my chances of getting a Shiny Adamant Nature 31 HP, Attack, and Speed IV Sneasel?

Cause apparently the only thing I got going for me is that one of the IVs comes from the Father, the other from the Mother, the third randomly selected from the two parents and the other 3 IVs are RNG set and the Masuda Method.

I kinda realized that 5 minutes after I posted. Pal parked and foreign Pokemon (like ^^ said) don't follow Everstone rules.

...Actually, Pal Parked Pokemon should still work with an Everstone. Only Foreign Pokemon should have any effect on it.

Without being able to use an Everstone but with foreign parents and normal breeding, you have around a 1/53248 chance of finding a Shiny egg that also happens to be Adamant, and then a very slim chance of being able to soft reset for an egg that also has the desired IVs. Even if the three desired IVs are present on your parents, that leaves about a...1/64 chance that all three will pass down, assuming that the statement I heard long ago that a Pokemon with a 31 IV has a 25% chance to pass it to an egg was true.

Good thing I've got the patience of a Bhuddist monk normally. ^_^

So basically, the Shiny and Nature are hardwired the minute the guy gets the Egg to give you but the IVs aren't?

Correct, which allows you to reset for its IVs once you somehow manage to find the desired egg, if you ever do.

Oh I will, even if I have to release every Sneasel I get from Eggs.

I was originally going with Froslass but her bad Def IV is becoming her undoing.

MAybe u battle it up to level 15 and didnt notice lol like i did that in emerald once i trained my combusken 1 level to high and it did not learn blazekick when it evolved
