Quick Question and Answer Thread / Breeding Questions

check https://pkmn.net/?action=page&id=8582
the page is for DP, but i used it to get most of the Pokés in Pt anyways.
If you need to know where a certain Trainer is, check Bulbapedia for the Route
Glaceon is on the route to Snowpoint City with the Heavy Blizzard weather, not where it says in Pt

I am having trouble beating the frontier brains, are there any good teams that do not require Any use of one time TMs ?

If it helps my team is Infernape , Floatzel and Staraptor.

You took those from your standard team right?
My Team is:
Breloom@Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
- Focus Punch
- Spore
- Seed Bomb
- Toxic/Fling/Dark-type move

Milotic@Leftovers
Ability: Marvel Scale
- Recover
- Hypnosis
- Surf
- Ice Beam

Third varies, but i usually use:
Salamence@King's Rock/Scope Lens
Ability: Intimidiate
- Fire Fang
- Thunder Fang
- Dragon Claw
- Fly/Aerial Ace

That team only uses TMs that you can get multiple times ;)

If I am EV training with power lens and I switch pokemon dose it get all five instead of just 1 if im training on 1 that give for example 1 ev in specail attack do i get all 5?

( Yanma Lvl 1(holding power lens) fights ghastly lvl 16 switches in infernape ,nape K.Os ghastly.)

dose yanmega get all 5 ev in specail attack even if i swicth out?

Best Place To Get Ghost Pokemon?

Okay so I'm in Hearthome City and reckon I could do with some Ghost Pokemon for my Pokedex and to decently fight back. I really want a Misdreavus, and Haunter and Ghastly would be cool to get. Do any of you know where I can get them before doing the third Gym battle?

If you have wi-fi, I have a level 37 one up for grabs. Also, you'd have to trade from a pearl version to get one yourself, they aren't available in platinum, neither is murkrow, since they were counterparts. sort of.

EDIT:

When I try to get on games in the wi-fi plaza, even if I start them, and even if other players join, it just send me out and let's the others play. Why?

Misdreavus can only be found in Eterna Forest and the Lost Tower in Pearl at night, no where else. Gastly is the only pokémon that will appear in the Old Chateau without a dongle, and Haunter is just the evolved form of Gastly.

Yeah. Yanma will get all 5 sp. atk EVs, but Infernape will only get one.

Yes. If you send a Pokémon and switch it with another, it'll get EVs as long as if doesn't faint before receiving EXP. Also, any EV-modifiers it has will be applied. So in your example:

Yanma/mega (whatever) with Power Lens will get 5 Sp. Atk. EVs (which can be doubled if it had PokéRus) and Infernape will get 1 Sp. Atk EV.

just wondering how is cacturne not hurt by sandstrom when it's grass/dark?

The Sand Veil ability nullifies the effects of the Sandstorm and gives Cacnea and Cacturne a 20% evasion boost in the Sandstorm.

This is a purdy noob like question, but I'm tring to find a good IV guide.
I do not quite understand IV's.
I get EV's that is prudy simple, but IV's, just errr.
I need as much information you can give me on IV's, a site would be nice too.
Preferablely PM me about it.
Because i need it to understand witch Hidden Power move i get...
Thanks.

I personally think the Serebii IV Guide is nice. It's for the 3rd Gen., but it explains the same concepts that are in D/P/Pt. For Hidden Power, you're going to want to check out Smogon's Hidden Power page. It provides insight on how to get the Hidden Power you're looking for. I'll PM this to you as well in case you don't see this.

If you are playing platinum the easiest way to find out your pokemons hidden power move is in Veilstone City. In the building next to the game corner where you buy the prizes there is a guy that tells you what your pokemons hidden power would be.

Also I don't understand IV'S too well yet myself but here is a list of the IV's I found on a youtube video hope it helps. I would post the video but I don't have enough posts yet.

Since no-one payed attention last time...

When I try to get in a wifi plaza game, when the countdown gets to 0, it just kicks me out! Why?!

Ok i have pokemon platium ok and in the past couple days that i have gone on wifi i noticed that there i four different sections a purple, yellow, greenish, and blueish one. What is up with that is it for the different pokemon games that are out or no?

Well, if you have more than 8 people on your pal pad, you get another color square. It's for Platinum only,

Are your network connection lagging?
I don't really know, but i think the game throws you out if your Internet connection is too slow...

Quick Question

Alright, I've been wondering how to get a shiny egg. I need to know if I have to breed it and hope for luck, or if there is a sure-fire way to get one.

Also, could I get a shiny by waiting for the last step in the hatching process, saving and hatching and switching off untill I finally get a shiny (has anyone tried this with success?)?
