Raichu's lack of love

    Does anyone find it a bit odd that Raichu is the only one in its line not to get any attention? We all know about Pikachu, but even Pichu is rolling in the spotlight.

    In the original Japanese version of Pokemon Stadium, where you can only play as the fully evolved Pokemon, Pikachu was playable but not Raichu.

    The Light Ball can only be used by Pikachu too. Even Pichu has been in SSB. Why does no one give a hoot about Raichu?

    Its as if Evolving Pikachu is a bad thing/
     
    Maybe people don't think its as cute or something. Personally I really like Raichu. I never cared for Pichu or Pikachu.
     
    And you couldn't evolve your Pikachu into Raichu unless you traded him in yellow. And if you got him back, he wouldn't follow you around any more. So sad.

    Poor Raichu is so neglected. ;-;

    I like Raichu better than Pikachu, anyway.
     
    Its that raichu is what do you call it.....fugly. I mean raichu is so.... I dunno, so less cute than pikachu. Also many people dont take the time to get a thunderstone (Ive seen) to actually evolve it. Also many people just care about the volt tackle. I mean once they get pichu, they ARE going to have to use it in battle (unless they gots exp. share or something like that). Its going to evolve anyways. When they get pikachu, they will also use it but are to lazy to actually find a thunderstone to give to pikachu (yes Im one of those lazy people). Plus Ive always found pikachu better than raichu, and pichu is just so cute, despite how weak it is
     
    Because the pogeymanz anime made it so Ash's pikachu did not want to evolve, so now everyone is all like "OMG nuuu! Dont eVolve poikichu u communist! DDDDD="
     
    I agree with The Bringer on this one. Also, no one wants to play as Raichu, since it isn't cute. (Actually, it'd be better in SSB then Pikachu or Pichu) And this makes me sad, since Raichu is my fourth favorite pokemon. Much better then Pikachu or Pichu, in my opinion. Raichu has been screwed over because of Pikachu, and that sucks.

    Well, Raichu is...ugly. It has thios quality to it that repels people =/ I mean, I can't understand how cute lil Pikachu can evolve into...THAT. Now I know why he evolves with a Thunderstone and not by leveing up or other means.
     
    If anything, Raichu gets enough love from me. Every time I played the older games, I made sure I got a Pikachu so I could evolve it. :/ I think it's adorable.
     
    Raichu doesn't get enough love because it's fat.
    And it is outclassed by Jolteon both ingame and otherwise. Seriously, 60 base HP and 55 defense(perfect for EQers)is pretty bad.

    I wouldn't call Raichu ugly, I'd probably call it pretty ugly and it's so fat. I'm fine with Snorlax since it was made to be fat but Raichu is meant to be a fast Pokemon and it has a gigantic belly and it's colours aren't as nice as Pikachu's and Pichu's.
     
    Those damn ears are so.... curly and does not help trying to convince its cuteness. I mean those damn ears, they look like some clowns. I do have to give raichu props on its tail. Its so ****ing awesome. Better than pikachu's at least

    Personally I like Pikachu and Raichu, so I have no problem evolving a Pikachu (usually I catch two Pikachus and evolve one of them anyway).

    I hate that entire evolutionary line. Raichu suffers from being overweight, evolving from my personal most hated Pokemon, and being outclassed by Pokemon such as Jolteon and Raikou. Compared to the other "Chu" Pokemon, it's unquestionably better, but it's still not something that appeals to me.
     
    Until recently, I didn't want a Raichu. I reckoned Pikachu was cooler (but I'm not that big a fan of Pichu).
    Then I watched the Legend of Thunder and when it appeared on the screen I realised how absolutely adorable it is! =3
    It's stronger than Pikachu, too.

    I reckon for the lack of love for Raichu is the fact that, whether we Raichu fans like it or not, many people do not consider it to be as cute as its prevolutions. Pikachu is the company mascot, and when it evolves it cannot go back. Pichu, on the other hand, is rather cute, and has the potential to evolve into Pikachu.

    ... I really doubt those who like Pichu more than Raichu think that far into it or have that as their reason. XD

    Anyway, that's my theory. ^_^

    Uhhh....it looks fine in the anime.

    But in games, because they designed it fat, it looks weird, and if they slimmed it, it'd look stretched, so it'd look naff either way.

    And it has rubbish moves.
     
    Yeah they don't care much for raichu even in the anime when they see are raichu pikachu will instantly hate it and plus theirs the pichu brothers a main character in pokemon chronicles but no raichu as a main character in anything But I personally Like Raichu better
     
    Raichu was always a favorite of mine and was one of my best monsters in fire red version, never really cared much for Pikachu and Pichu though, didn't give a moment's hesitation to running into the department store and buying that thunderstone. It's really too bad that he has to be overshadowed by his younger brother.

    If you ever saw his sprite from gold version you would know Raichu is not a "cutie-pie".
