    RE: "SPAM Rule"

Spam needs to be clarified as more than just a silly acronym. As the rule is now, SPAM is defined by those individuals who are in power or easily-annoyed regular users.

ALSO: Where the fudge can I discuss in-game teams with the potential to become multiplayer Pokemon teams that I'll be using to fight FRIENDS?
This whole "competitive battling only" thing makes this forum sound elitist.

SPAM is off topic posts, say like you post something about cheese in an thread about photography. Something that just doesn't belong there. Well, if you want to battle "FRIENDS", then just PM or VM your friend, or post in the Quick Battle thread. You just cannot post RMTs of in-game teams, because any in-game teams work. We only have competitive battling, because that is the art of battling via Wi-Fi. We make these teams so we have good strategies and such, to win and have fun! You CAN battle "FRIENDS" here, just don't post your in-game teams. Mostly every forum has competitive battling in it. O_o So, we aren't the "elitist". XD But, if you do battle people with in-game teams, you might lose majority of the time. D:

Spam is (to put it simply) stupid, pointless, annoying messages. Sure, it's an acronym, and sure, it's sort of vague, but most decent posters know what to post and what not to post. I don't see why it'd need to be clarified; just about everyone knows what spam means. If a post doesn't contribute to the topic at hand; that's spam. If the post is filled with gibberish that no one understands; that's spam. If a post is flaming another user; that's spam. If a duplicate thread is made; that's spam. If a thread is made that doesn't comply with the forum's or board's rules; that's spam. It's pretty easy to understand, and normally when users are punished for posting spam, it's justified.

SPAM is...a bit hard to describe actually. Thing is, the definition of spam varies from forum to forum really, If you want good examples of what to post and what not to post...Read the rules carefully, and try to follow them to the letter. If that doesn't help then go hunting for closed threads, and see what kind of behavior provokes the staff's ire and what kinds of posts you can get away with. Usually if you think out your posts, and try to stay on-topic, while being polite in what you say...your posts wont be considered SPAM at all.

As for the battle forums seeming elitist, I understand where you're coming from, however there are rules in place limiting the threads which can be posted in that area because before those rules were passed, the forum was very messy, and active, and this created problems for the moderators of that particular section. It's not that they don't welcome casual battlers...it's just that too many threads in one area makes for a rather nasty recipe for disaster. I know competitive battlers can be rather xenophobic at times, but understand that they really have a passion for battling, and countless trolls, and sore losers can wear a person's patience down. Don't let their sour demeanor ruin battling for you, if you just want to have fun, go ahead and do it and people will respect you for it.

    PC Rules said:
    SPAM is not allowed.
Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages are posts with little relevance to a thread. Members are not allowed to create posts that are devoid of content or invaluable text.
    What's so hard about it?
I mean yes, it is defined by the Staff... but that's the reason why we have Mods in a forum, they are the judges on what is posted. They aren't some random people who's name was pulled out of a hat, they are all hand picked by the Higher Staff. The Mods are the ones that keeps the forum clean, and keeps pointless posts out of threads. Sure, everyone who has had their post deleted, or their thread locked might be mad. But that post or thread didn't fit the bill for that forum. It might not have met PC's rules, or might not have met the rules of that forum, but it was removed for a reason. Just because someone doesn't agree with the Mod doesn't mean the Mod is wrong.
Sure, some of the rules may be strict, but that's just how it is. The Staff have these rules to keep the forum running as smooth as it can.

And as for explaining "SPAM" more... I think everyone above me did a great job on explaining it. If you don't have at least a basic grasp on what it means... well then good luck.

That depends what you mean. If your in-game team follows the basics of competitive battling (your Pokemon are EV trained, the movesets aren't 4 STAB moves, etc.), then we'll accept it as a RMT thread. If not, then battling your friend isn't really competitive enough to really warrant a thread since it's just for the fun of playing as opposed to trying to win as your number one goal.

It might seem elitist, but if you've ever seen Strategies and Movesets when those kinds of threads are allowed, you'll know that there's a very good reason we don't allow in-game teams.

Whatever you do, don't post an in-game team in the S&M section or you will invoke D_A's wrath ^_^
You don't need to discuss in-game teams really, the CPU's are so dumb it doesn't matter =D
You can SPAM your FRIEND'S profiles though if you like unless they don't like it.

As for the rule against discussing in-game teams in S&M is because otherwise we are swamped by threads about "Do u thnik my combuksen cud beet my frendz?". If you are prepared to put the time and effort into making a detailed team, then you are better off trying out the competitive scene.

I'm sure there'd be a few S&M regulars, like myself, that would help you over the PM system in regards to battling friends, but as for in-game teams, unless of course it's a battle tower team (which there is a thread for) anything is viable.
