When people worked hard to get the Pokemon they wanted?

Back when you had to spends hours catching the same Pokemon over and over and breed for long periods of time until you got the egg move, nature or ability you desired?

Now we live in the day of cloning and algorithms to discover what Pokemon will be shiny and have what IVs, natures, etc.

Not that I'm complaining, as it simply makes trading and training Pokemon so much easier, but sometimes... I get the feeling it's taken away from the core of Pokemon... sometimes :P

Any ways, how do you the rest of you feel about the way Pokemon is these days?

    Lol
No, In the good old days i didnt worry about eggmoves or anything.
A while back i didnt even know natures had anything to do with the pokemons attacks, and i had no iea what EV training was, or IVs for that matter.lol

The funny thing is that I don't deal with technical issues. owo As long as I can obtain a certain Pokemon that has a chance of being a certain gender I want, I'm cool. If I give it a nickname I deem not fitting with its personality, off to the Name Rater.

In other words, I'm lax and not involved in competition.

But I do look down upon the cheating aspects. Some people are just so dang sad. -_- I could go on and on, but then I'd put you boys (and girls) to sleep.

Seriously though, it wasn't that long ago that we had to "work hard". I literally spent a year breeding on Sapphire so I could get a "perfect" team. Have you ever tried to hatch a Bold Magnemite with a Base 60+ Hidden Power Ice? In the end, mine had Base 59.

    Damn.

Anyway, there's no reason to be a crochety old bat about it. If tools are available to let the kiddies get their dream team more easily, then that's just fine. No reason to be regretful or jealous, just accept that things change over time and move on.

OP didn't mention cheating anywhere, guys...

Also, LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE.

Dude I totally know what you mean. I hate it when people cheat and clone. I like to play the games more realisticly and train the "hard way"

I'd be fine if a few people did it like little kids and stuff but the problem is everyone does it now.

People cloning stuff really does get to me sometimes. I have an action replay which i always try and use as little as possible (Only when it's impossible to get that pokemon otherwise eg. shaymin, arceus and manaphy). But people still work hard on those DS and GBA games as well. I still try and find a shiny in Pearl and it took me 4 hours to get my only shiny magnemite.

...no, I don't remember. It's only in the last few years that I even bothered paying attention to natures and abilities--I've yet to give a damn about IVs and EVs.

In my good old days, you just wanted to get a strong Pokemon. And by strong, that just means LV100 with the strongest attacks. Thus almost everyone I knew had final teams with about 25 PP total because they tossed on all those 5PP moves. :(

    Before i thought...

Level 100's Are the Best And Forget natures and IV's & EV's

    Then...

I went online and challenged my friend Who had a team full of EV'd And i lost severely.

So now i actually think about natures IV's And EV's

No change--there's still plenty of us who still hunt for shinies the old-fashioned way and try to get through the Battle Frontier with sub-par pokemon. Not optimal, but it's still fun-

...although my recent awareness to natures has made me appreciate less of my shinies. Whatever-

Honestly, I hate all these futuristic terms like IV, egg stuff and abilities... Sigh* Back in the day of Red and Blue, I just kept Scratching that darn Pidgey until it died and I levelled up. There was no secret way, you just traded one old move for a newer, more powerful move as you levelled up and then you beat the game. It was so simple back then.

Well, I'm willing to work hard obtaining Pokemon in Emerald (due to abilties' effects outside of battle (Synchronize, Flame Body, etc.) plus efficient Everstone usage when breeding), not Emerald's predecessors. I'll actually work for my Pokemon's EVs, ability, nature, gender, and maybe IVs. When that Pokemon reaches Lv. 100, you get a feeling that you worked hard as heck to catch/hatch and train that Pokemon to where it is today. :cer_nod:

But no, I will NOT spend what could be literally a YEAR trying to earn shiny Pokemon, unless I was bored of Battle Frontier or something. Some Shinies make me so mad that they aren't the Pokemon's normal color! (i.e., Mewtwo, Garchomp, Blaziken, etc.) :cer_pissed: That's why I'm glad PokeSav and the broken PRNGs of Emerald and Platinum exist now! :cer_love: So basically, I'm glad the times have changed for the better, although actually investing hard work in catching and raising your Pokemon is good, too. :D

I love the fondness of training my blastoise to level 100 back in red and blue
now i bought an ar off my friend.
But i am very Strongly against hacking pokemon out of the blue all i really use mine for is cloning, berries, and bp

cloning= other people get to enjoy the pokemon ive trained and they get use. instead of sitting in obscurity in a box or battling mediocre bug catchers and whatnot

Berries=I hate growing and finding berries. period.

BP= I have enough pokemon and skill to do battle tower just not the time. you cant save in your streak so you have to go and grind out hundreds of battles in 1-4 sittings to get a lousy tm!

and i still breed and do all that without cheating, hell, i have at least twelve boxes full of lvl 1s from breeding.

Well said. ;D I feel exactly the same way about the current generation of games.

I don't agree with the PokeSav and the Broken PRNG's but meh, at somepoint some things are just plain stupid, like trying to get a Shiny Mewtwo by a legal way.

Wait, don't you mean "do I miss the good old days when I could care less about EVs and IVs and egg moves and Hidden Power only because I didn't know about them and wasn't so OCD back then?"

Ironically, I never did that before (because I was too lazy), but I do now. I don't have any cheating devices and I don't use the cloning glitch (although I have to admit I made liberal use of the Rare Candy cheat in RBY ;) ), so when I need a Pokémon of a specific nature I always end up just catching a bunch of them (I filled up more than an entire box trying to catch a Modest Feebas XD). I don't know much about IVs so I don't really pay attention to them, and I'm still too lazy to care about EVs XD.
