All right, I basically fell into a slump and stopped playing Pokemon entirely for a while, but I'm back on this! I've beaten Lt. Surge, and done the Gamer Corner and Pokemon Tower - I'm in that weird area where you just float around the entire region getting badges 4-7 in any order. Last 3 Pokemon are freshly caught.

UPDATE:

Went through the route battling all the trainers, and before I went to the S.S. Anne, I went to both take out every trainer to the right of Vermilion and catch Diglett, with SANDY evolving in the process. I know I said I wanted to learn all HMs, but I felt that this was easier than going to the move deleter. Anyway, after that, I took on the S.S. Anne, fought every trainer there, got every item there, and faced the rival and got the HM. And I HATE Lt. Surge's gym!! It is my least favorite gym in the franchise. Anyway, took on every trainer there and the gym puzzle was done on my third trash bin on the top row. And here is how Surge went.
