Revolution control.

The S said:
Because I felt like adding my opinion, just the same as everybody else. Is there something wrong with doing so? Sheesh. I never even slammed the Revolution itself. I just said I didn't want to look like a complete spazz playing it. Hopefully most, if not all games will come with an option to use the GameCube controller instead, because even though I don't really care for it either, this thing seems to be a piece of tripe.

Oh, and fugly is short for f***ing ugly. It's not a typo.

You won't look like a spazz playing it. You don't have to wave your arms around, just motions of the wrist. It'll be like using a computer mouse.

Most people here are saying it's gonna be awful. I said that on Serebii. But now, this seems like a great idea, you just have to get used to it. And GC controllers can be used, to. Or you could get the nunchuck (sp?) joystick attachment, like in the pictures. This controller will add a more realistic feel to the games. The only problem will be button mashers.

Easy people, take it easy. Yes for the controller, no for the controller, and why.

How do all of these trheads always turn into a Nintendo vs. Sony thread? Or how does Sony always get brought up when it's irrevelent to the discussion in the first place.

Do you think the controller is good, or not. That's all you have to say.

I see this controller as being like the DS's touch screen. It makes your TV like the touch screen and you use the point within this controller like a stylus. And because of this it will probably sell the same way as the DS. Incredibly well in Japan where they're open minded, and only very well here (or less). I don't think it will appeal to the gaming market here very well, mainly because of the movement involved.

@Dakota: name one thing Nintendo did wrong before the revolution.
also, they aren't in a slum in gaming! the games rock! it's called 3rd party! nobody buys the games though, there in a slum of *style* everybodys got to pretty things up nowadays, heck, I would buy the revolution if the cas was a cardboard box!

I'm sorry, but I don't argue with fanboys, seeing as you'll simply ignore every correct thing I say.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think this peripheral will sell well (in america, I dunno about Japan). It could, very well, be the greatest controller every invented, but I don't think it will sell well simply because of its style, and by American Media standards, style is everything.

It's interesting and unique; I'll say yay for the controller for now, since I haven't used it yet xP.
I'm looking forward to trying it out ^^;;

I'm not going to pass judgment until I've actually used it. Right now I'm just being optimistic. I have faith in Nintendo. I'm sure it'll find some way to do this right. But I have to admit, my first impression was: "Nintendo, you're an idiot." That was before I actually read what it could do, so I'm just going to wait and see.

Sony never leeched off them. I'd much rather say Ninty leeched off Sony! SNES Playstation was a joint project, each company was to blame for it's non-existance.
I would give out some stuff Sony took from Nintendo. But David done said it best.
"It honestly doesn't matter what we say to you anyways, no matter what you'll think up some excuse to why Nintendo products suck compared to Sony, yadda yadda."

To people who are worried that it's too different from a regular controller, Nintendo will also be releasing a slide-on peripheral that will slide over the "remote" controller to give regular button layouts for playing games that best suit them. :)

In an interview with a Nintendo representative:
"The thorny issue of how games not designed specifically for the Revolution - multi-platform titles - will be played. He had the answer: "We're producing a classic-style expansion controller, based on traditional designs like the Gamecube controller. It's like a shell with a hole in the top into which you slot the freehand-style controller, and then you can play third-party ported games, and retro Nintendo games you've downloaded."

Even better, while it's inserted into the classic-style shell, the freehand controller will still be able to sense positioning, bringing more options to classic games."

I say don't knock it til' you've tried it ^_^ I think it has a lot of potential and can't wait to see it in action with a real Revolution game!

Well, my opinions pretty much stand as the same as Triforce89's, but here's a picture of the Wavebird like shell of the remote for those who have not seen it yet.

This is something I was really looking for. When I was reading FG's post and the link in Bayleef's post I loved it. I mean I was going "Sure, I could give a shot at SSBR with the new contoller" but looking at Bayleef's pic (I know it's a fake IGN pic, but looking at FG's post it sure looks like they will have something like that). It's way better then I hoped for, I can play first person shooter games and shoot, not just move the crosshair around and shoot that way. I can play Star Wars or Legend of Zelda games and get to swing the sword to fight. And looking at the image and FG's post I will be able to play the old style when they have an expansion controller. After getting all of this, I love the Rev more then ever.

Brittany said:
That's not being original, that's using proprietary technology in an unforgivable case. Exactly why would someone buy an official Revolution keyboard when they could just plug their own?
And in the midst of all of that sillyness, it's not even completely wireless?
You don't have to buy an offical Revolution keyboard? You have forgotten this. The Rev has 2 USB ports on it. So if you want to use your keyboard by all means go ahead.

Dakota said:
This new controller for the revolution, I really don't like the look of it, and seeing as most gamers are mainstream (meaning they go buy games based on graphics/titles/esrb ratings) this controller won't sell very well.
If you read my long post in my Nintendo FanClub you would have seen this
"I think Nintendo is taking the right road with this. As of right now most games are looked at as good because of the graphics. I saw Kill Zone on the PS3 and I was shocked, it had killer graphics. But the thing is, if games are only as good as the graphics then we're done for in the gaming stuff. I don't see the graphics getting much better then they are now. If it was just for graphics then I say we got 1 maybe 2 gens left before graphics won't get any better. What happens then? We stop playing games and just leave it at that?"
True, most people will look at this and think it sucks. But if everything went on looks then why is everyone talking about the PS2 and 360 spcs better then the Rev's?

Dakota said:
Yes, I know it's Nintendo. Nintendo happens to be my favorite game company, and I love nintendo. But anyone with half a brain knows that Nintendo is in a HUGE slum right now in gaming. I really hate it when nintendo fanbois won't even admit to themselves that nintendo could possibly be doing bad right now...
Half a brain? Did you know you only use around 10% of your brain? XD
No matter what you say D, Nintendo isn't in a "HUGE slum". I don't know where you're getting that at.

I have to agree, it's like the gaming market outside of Japan is closed minded. Even looking at this thread I can see it. Most people thought (and still do) that the DS sucked because of the touch screen without even trying it.
But I look at it this way, the contoller is strange enough and new enough for people to look into it and buy it just to try it. I would want to try something new in games. I look at the PS3 (that I'm getting BTY) and the 360 and I see something that is old. Same old controller looks, same old type of games, same old online stuff. But with the Rev I see something new, new controller looks, and new ways to play games, new ways to use different controllers for different games, downloading old games, Wi-Fi etc.

Heh...I still don't believe for a second that Kill Zone was real time, even after seeing MGS4 (which I do know and believe is real time). Something about Kill Zone irks me, the camera angles or something. I dunno.

Anyway... I think I see a problem with the Revolution controller. What about left-handed ness? They semi-solved this with the DS, but now they took a step back. I'm not left-handed but I'm worried about Zelda games. Link's left handed. It'd be weird swinging your right hand to control a sword that the character you're controlling is holding in their opposite hand. Zelda aside, the control stick add-on doesn't look like it'd be that comfortable in the right hand due to it's shape.

Yes, what about left handed? I myself is left handed XD.
I am looking forward to this, the controller doesn't even bother me. I don't mind at all, I infact like it, it's unique ^^

HOW DARE YOU!!!!!! YOU THINK A ****-**** *** TOY IS BETTER THAN A COMPLETLY ORIGONAL IDEA! ALL THEY DID WAS MAKE LONGER HANDLES!!!! OHHH THEY REALLY HAD THINK HARD ON THAT ONE!!! GUESS WHO MADE POKEMON??? WAS IT CRY BABY, NO CARE FOR THERE CUSTOMERS SONY? NO!!!! IT WAS THE ONLY COMPANY WITH A SYSTEM THAT IS COMPLETELEY COMMITED TO SERVING YOU!! SHOVE THAT UP YOUR ****-**** *** TOY!!!

here's a link to the video, from what I read,(which was the first post) is here:THE MOST REVOLUTINARY CONTROLLER!!!

Zero ex, From what I read you didn't even tell what the controller does!!! It uses wireless technology and full movement technology to make it so your constantly moving, now that's revolutionary, much better than those retards at sony!! that's whos working at sony, they just bumped into the gaming industry like nobodys business. And don't even say Microsoft did that, they have been making computer games forever. The gaming industry is not something to just show up in!!! Nintendo is not new to this world! They saved the word of gaming by coming out with the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) They Have been the ones to make revolutions before!! Sony has done Diddly squat!!! nintendo has come out with 12 Systems including the revolution and the GB micro, and Sony has come out with *retarded voice* one...two...three...four. that was the head of Sony by the way, thanks for coming by you! go back to the asylum now!! I curse you now!! I will never leave this thread!!! I will post tiny facts about nintendo regularly!!! muhahahaha!! you have been cursed by the nintendo fanboy!!!

Man I have read, nintendo article, gamespot article, and IGN article. I have seen the video in gametrailers.com. Maybe you are the one not reading. The best console will be Playstation 3, even better than revolution and 360. The only good thing of Revolution is the new super smash brothers and the free online. Thats whay at first i was with nintendo, but when they show the controller, I was angry, yes they make a new futuristic control, but it was a bad Idea.

I was once a nintendo fanboy, but when the Ds got out i get disappointed. (I have my DS since december and i only have one game.) When the psp came out well it was good, it had better games.(MGA, Darkstalkers, etc.) And i still use my psp to hear music. Now the one that uses my DS is my mom.

This is how the consoles will be, at least in what the consoles have. (Not in games, not gaming cuality.)

Ps3>Xbox360>Revolution. (Though i hate microsoft, but it is the truth.)

The USB port is on the box, not the controller...

Sitting next to your TV with a controller and keyboard wired to your console is definetly something marking this generation, not the next.

Online games hardly met the mainstream market(meaning the average gamers, not 1337 ones) in this gen, aside from sports games, and ofcourse, Halo. For example, comparing the MMORPG players using a gaming console vs a PC is just rubbish, and most big sellers in gaming aside from my examples didn't even have basic online features.

But starting it up in the last generation definetly set the battleground for this one. Maybe the Revolution is the standard for future gaming, perhaps its not just our time. Gamers(aside from Nintendo zealots) are focusing on the improvements they loved from the last generation, not a console providing features that the Revolution is providing us. That's probably why Nintendo is recieving so much unjustifyable crap in your perspective.

At the very least, I think Nintendo is doing the right things the wrong way. If innovations like this were just the sideshow for the console, with the current gaming style leading the way, perhaps Revolution wouldn't be seen as the sideshow in it's entirety. If they could have caught up to gaming standards for their competition, or atleast gotten a little closer, perhaps Sony and MS zealots would be just a little more forgiving.

The PS3 looks like a paper shredder and I back swizzler121 and for god sakes the 360's probably gonna win because it actually sounds like a console the revolution is exactly what it says on the box IT'S REVOLUTION-ARY and the ps3's a silver ps2 thats gonna lose sony $100 for every console they sale!! UP NINTENDO!!!

How would you know that?
Anyways, I support all systems, but I'm more of a Nintendo guy ._.
Sure Microsoft is cool and all but I prefer Microsoft making Computers instead of video games.
And the Paper Shredder. Who cares in this world? Looks don't count.

Well you are right, console looks doesn't matter. No one cares of the console looks, is like the strangest look was of the gamecube, and it was the best console(for me). What im saying of the PS3 is truth, like it or not. If the nintendo revolution control shell is good, then Revolution will be saved, well i have meet many persons in all the world and most did not like the new control, but the ones that liked it were because they are nintendo lovers(xbox and ps haters.)

I admit, I like the control, it's nothing to be mad about. I find it unique, and a new experince. I somehow look forward to see if the controller is usable or not.

You don't understand the control for those who think it's going to be bad. This is the best control ever created. Everything else is awful, compared to this.

You are really missing the features of the control.

Edit: This video shows a little tiny piece of its many different things. This opens up opportunities for freeform fighting! The reason the people in the video are moving is because they are looking at a tv.. the controller senses movement! So like the girl tipping it up was making Mario jump.

[PokeCommunity.com] Revolution control.

That is one of the many attachments available for this incredible work of art.

You can't just look at the controller and judge it instantly..

Also, keep in mind. After the E3 press conference of PS3, they got caught lying. They said their graphics will be as close to real life as possible. They lied. The game they said they were playing wasn't really them playing it. It was all just video as they pretended to play it. (I only brought up PS3 because the starter of the thread made a comment about it).

Edit 2: Though each of the systems has online play, NR's is the only one that will not have extra charges. Meaning you just plug in your eternet cable and you're good to go.

Edit 3: I understand where most of you that dislike this controller come from. You don't like Nintendo so you take a quick glance at it and decide it's terrible. Well this controller at first glance doesn't look so great but after understanding it, it truly is revolutionary.

Wow, I never knew about movement interactivity. This is getting better every time someone makes a positive comment ^^

Yeah, I had a reaction to the look of it. Thinking, "A remote?! Whoa, that's silly."

Even though I'm with Nintendo. Then I realized how it's really used and how incredible it was. I mean think about it, Nintendo's 64 controller seemed weird at first glance but it turned out great. So far as I'm concerned, this is another great step toward defining gaming (since the deffinition isn't definable).

About your edit 3, i have always loved nintendo, but this is the first time that i have got disappointed. (I have seen the videos!)

erm... i was already probably not going to get a revolution (for lack of a lineup) but this pretty much solidifies my decision. the design is pretty much rediculous. i don't want to move a controller... that would make video gaming physical. and we can't have that. (except in ddr and related games)... acutally i've broken a sweat playing marvel vs. capcom 2... but anyway... i like how they're going with the "white with shiny blue" thing. makes it look expensive (white electronics are always expensive... crazy apple)... and the blue accent does kinda suggest that they want to look sophisticated...
