Rollercoaster Tycoon / Simulation games

Rollercoaster Tycoon has just turned 20 years old! I will assume you all have, but have you managed to play any of the games in the franchise? Any neat ride designs to show us? Also whilst on the subject, any other sim games you just simply love?

Hakdkflg my childhood

I played RCT to bits and built an enormous paradise in Evergreen Gardens. And then RCT2 came out and I built ALL THE THEMES. I never liked RCT3 much because with the 3D it was so different I guess haha.

One of the best and most addictive game series for sure.

Like Rika, these games were my childhood and I played RCT1, 2 and 3 and loved them all to death. I used to build like these huuuuge theme parks. When I was in a bad mood I'd build rollercoasters that would lead in like a Lion's exhibit, Still love them.

Did RC1 a tad with the Wooden Rollercoasters being my favorite ones to build compared to the other types available. Just something about them that appeals to me I suppose. Forest Frontiers was my favorite map. However, I can beat RC1 even further in age with this "gem" ;)

The game had several levels of difficulty, including Theme Park stock(your own and rivals), restocking all your shops and having to do labor negotiations with prick workers -.- RC1 had that too but let's just say it wasn't the first one in the genre. They would eventually create a sequel in Lost Kingdom but yeah Theme Park wasn't half bad. Alas it only had one Roller Coaster so its more of a "Carnival" game if anything.

Also I'll give a shoutout to Zoo Tycoon. Find me a game that allows you to "feed" people to Lions, Wolves, Sharks and Dinosaurs ^_^. Favorite exhibits to me were Polar Bears, Grizzly Bears, Black Bears, actually... anything with a Bear in it lol, River Otters, Dolphins, Grey Wolves and Lions.

SIM GAMES!

I have a ton that I've either sampled or played intensively over the years. I've spent far and away the most time in Sim City 4, though. I actually still own copies of most of them and may return with pics if I can find time to dig out my games CD case.

For RCT I've played 1 and 2 and didn't bother with 3.

I preferred the gameplay of 1 and 2 and didn't have a PC that could run 3 well until well after its release.

Sim City 2000 with the cheats... oh the cheats lmao. Sim City 3000 had them too but 2000 was the best with the 1 million every year that made running deficits a thing of the past. Never got around to Sim City 4k sadly. One of these days I should but they'll have to be updated to run on modern operating systems. Heck a lot of classic games, including Roller Coaster Tycoon could use a refresh. There might be more money in remastering old games than making brand new ones with all the fervor over Command&Conquer being remastered.

There's only a couple commands you need to setup in the startup config for it that help Sim City 4 run great on modern systems. It's a crash-prone game otherwise. I mean, it still is with them but much less so. It's probably the least stable version of Sim City but far and away the most customizable. Some of the game's best mods still get updates and players have made entire custom transit options because of the game's moddability.

I've tried 3000 and it runs like trash, though.

ah RCT, where every coaster I built was too intense for these weaklings.
I remember RCT was installed on most computers in school aswell.
what, you had real games on your school computer? all we had were shitty typing games

Anyway, I LOVE BUILDING GAMES

I've enjoyed most sim/building games I've gotten my hands on. I think Zoo Tycoon was actually one of the first I played when I was a kid, and when I revisited games like these as an adult, some of my favourites in recent years have been Prison Architect, Cities: Skylines and Planet Coaster.

Yes, idk how they got on there but they were there.
