Hi, I'm Betty. While I'm a new member, I'm a long-time lurker, and I finally decided to jump the gun and join.

I'm definitely what you would call an older fan. My first game was Yellow way back in 1999, and I also later got Blue, Gold, and Silver in 2000-01. I lost interest in the games after Gen 2, so I'll fully admit that I don't have a lot of interest in the newer Gens. There are some later Gen Pokémon that I like, and the 3/DS games have some nice graphics, but the likes of Sinnoh or Unova will just never compel me as much as Kanto and Johto. Sorry, but that's just how I feel.

No, I don't hate the later games or anything, and I won't bash anyone who does. Just DON'T use the "G-word" in front of me, and we'll be cool.

Also, I'm a story-oriented person, and my posts will reflect that. While good gameplay is nice, it's not my #1 priority. (I have zero interest in the "metagame," and I'll happily stay out of those forums.) The characters, for the most part, interest me more than the Pokémon, and I love discussing theories and headcanons. I don't care if people disagree with me, so long as they don't try to pull me into an argument. Sorry, but I don't have the time or energy for that.

Well, that's all for now. I hope my stay here goes well, and I hope to make some new friends.

Haah theres a lot of lurkers!

    Hi, Dedenne.

You should give the Gen 2 games a try. They're basically sequels to the Gen 1 games, with a larger story, new features, and so much more. If you can, I recommend either getting Crystal or HGSS (depending on what's easier to find/your tolerance for older graphics).

As for the "G-word"... It's a certain childish, derogatory word for early Gen fans that I'm sure you've heard before. I don't like it, and I don't wanna see it.

    This i love! Haha!

*High five* I think we'll have a great time together. That's good to know.

Hi there Betty. It's great having you here! Welcome to PC, good choice finally deciding to join after lurking for so long. And no worries at all.. we have a lot of diverse fans here haha. You're definitely not alone in feeling the way you do. ♥

The first two generations have a very special place in my heart too as I got into Pokemon with R/B/Y myself but R/S/E were my personal favorites and I spent hundreds of hours messing around on new files. Was so addicting, hence why I'm as obsessed with Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire as I am now. But as far as replay value goes.. G/S/C top the list for sure - they just never get boring. Keep participating in our Metal/Color forum as it could use a breath of life to help it get off the ground, yes? We'd definitely love seeing you there!

Have a good time and I do hope you'll stick. =]

What's up, Betty! ^^ I hope your experience in this forum have been going well so far, and welcome to PC; glad to meet you. ♥

Aw, well, I really love the classic pokemon games too. Though people just don't like Kanto for whatever reason - in which Kanto is one of my favourite regions because its the home of my favourite Gym Leader Erika, aaah. Still, I like all the Gens. There really isn't a pokemon game that I didn't like. XD

Check out the boards if your interested and we'll be happy to discuss all kinds of pokemon topics with you! And see you again real soon! If you ever need help or want to chat, feel free to drop me a PM or VM anytime! :3

And hello to you, Betty! Hopefully your experience is going very well.

I know how many different types of Pokemon fans there are, and most prefer the older stuff a.k.a. 1st & 2nd Generations (with 3rd to a lesser extent) but there's fairly good things from the modern generations as well. I guess I'm just not much of a Kanto fan, but I still love Pokemon anyway!

As Sheep and Dragon mentioned above, take time to explore all the Pokemon sections here which cover all the major topics of the franchise, and hopefully you can meet new friends too! If you ever want to talk, just shoot me a visitor message whenever you like, and I'm sure you'll have a blast here. But hey, have a great time here and I'll see you around!
