wait i got a UT raikou from FR want me to check its IVs?
wait i got a UT raikou from FR want me to check its IVs?
Well, if you want. I'm about to do the same for my Suicune. And what does UT mean?
theres 3 types of those i think
when pople say ,bt,t,ut
ut-it means untouch. it makes a pokemon more valuable ^^.
bt- bearly touch it means like you most likely raise it 1 lvl
t- you raised it some lvls.
sometimes they will say ev- effort values..i think
all these are trade terms mainly
I kinda wanted to post this here too. Kinda chronicles my shiny adventure.
WARNING! HUGE ARSE POST IN SPOILERS!
Spoiler:Back in 3rd Gen, I just wanted 6 in order to have a team, then I set my goal as a possible 12 species.
I got those 6, although some are unraised.
My first was Beldum on Emerald, I was just messing around to see what happened. In less than 100 SRs, I had it. I went crazy. I think I saved like 3 times, took it out of the GBA and put it into my DS, viewed it, saved again, then took pictures, then saved again. :P
It's now my Metagross, a key member on my team. Someone once told me it was the best MixGross they had ever seen.
The next was Eevee in LG, within 400 resets.
It's now an Espeon named Celtic Sol.
The 3rd was Machop. It took me like... 280 hours in FR to see my first shiny there but it happened. I was originally looking for a shiny Onix but alas, I got Machop instead. That's fine - it has a 30 IV in Attack and has a Lonely nature.
Before I transferred it over I taught it the Elemental Punches from Emerald, and evolved it... but it's untrained.
The 4th was Totodile and one of the hardest to get. It took a solid week of SRing in Emerald to get it, and I mean a LOT. I still haven't touched it. It has that "Emerald touch" and has the same IVs as my Metagross, from the same Emerald. I'm trying to get someone to tell me how to raise it. I could use the same strategy as my Metagross, but I'd prefer to turn it into a bulky water. The problem? No one wants to help, so it stays a Totodile until then.
The 5th was Voltorb, in Sapphire. I was looking for a Magnemite but this came up instead. I was waiting at a doctor's office for my Mom playing Emerald and Sapphire at once... Man, the thrill to watch that baby come across the screen....
It's now a trained Electrode and was on my team for a while until I got a better roster.
The 6th and final 3rd Gen shiny is Scyther from FR. It didn't take too long to get, but it's craptastic - It has a - Attack nature.... What a letdown. I want to use it on my team somehow but looks like I'll just have to evolve it and use it in my shiny hunts. Since my Bronzong has Hypnosis, I could use them in tandem.
Turn the Page.
With the arrival of D/P came chaining. At first, I HATED it! ALl my hard work and people were getting shinies like crazy now, and in multiples. Suddenly, I wasn't so special anymore.
Me and some friends decided to try to figure out to work it and struck a contest to see who got a shiny first.
That very night I went to the area to the west of Pal Park and started chaining, although I didn't understand why I kept finding Gastrodon in a row.....
On the 3rd one, shiny grass. I thought I was seeing things. Something was different. Was that shiny grass? It was.
So I got my 7th shiny.
I hate this thing. There's hardly any difference. Since I hate it, it has a Modest nature and great IVs. "UT".
The next... I wanted to make a statement. No more crappy Pokemon. I wanted to make noise. So I went after Larvitar. It was hard. On a 26th chain, bling-bling. 8th shiny.
It's got a Gentle nature but that was before I knew what I know now, and that nature saves me a lot. It's now a Tyranitar and a staple on my team for Sand Stream.
Next, was one that I adored.... I wanted a shiny Roselia/rade.
So I set out to chain Budew.
Again, on the 26th chain, shiny patch.
It's now a shiny Roserade and is one of the strongest Pokemon I have, Antoinette. Modest without a synchro and good IVs. 9th shiny.
Then, there was the drought. I would get any more shinies until near the end of the year. I tried, I tried.... but kept failing. I don't think I even got to 40, ever.
Fast forward to last year, Thanksgiving.
Absol was my Swarm. I decide to try it. I go there and start chaining. I think I saw shiny grass behind the tree. I was at 35 Absol in chain I think...
I get my camera and start rolling. If I fail, everyone can see. I had just opened my YouTube account days earlier to track favorites.
Shiny Absol.
It has a neutral nature... crap. But it still has one point more attack than my Tyranitar, and has Super Luck. I named him Crimson, and trained him. He sorta sucks though. 10th shiny...
Just a day later, I want to get something my friend anthony has: Shiny Nincada. I go out, and make it to 40 for the first time, and also for the first time, I get multiple shinies, pick out the best one to fight with.... and unbeknownst at the time, revive my favorite shiny (Metagross) into my prime fighter.
It's now a shiny Ninjask. The Club doesn't record multiple shinies and I don't blame them so I track species.
This one currently holds my highest chain record... cuz I got as many as I wanted, so I decided to just chain until it broke.
I made it all the way to 82 before it broke!
Ninjask means Shedinja so my 11th shiny was Shedinja, I trained it also. I haven't used it much but it's quite a force by itself.
Since I actually have Pokemon worth a crap for a team, I decided I needed a wall. So I went and got shiny Bronzor, and got the most out of my work: 12 shiny Bronzor in all.
One is a Bronzong now with Levitate, but I have a better one with Heatproof that I haven't trained yet.
And then it happened.
Magnemite swarmed. My favorite shiny was Magneton.... I never got it in 3rd gen.
Magnemite, I failed to get it the first time. Seems like I failed the 2nd time.
Why? I should've used Magnet Pull.... and I did the 3rd time.
It was so ridiculously easy, I got to 40 in just 7000 steps.
I got 8 in all. Some of them were crappy, but I can't say no to my 31 IV Modest Magnezone.
I kinda hit a drought again until Lickitung came. So I have some shiny Lickitungs and a Lickilicky that I just trained last week. Great IVs in just about all stats.
I waited and waited for Corsola to come. Finally it did and I got 3 of them. Only 3 because I forgot to swap my Butterfree sleeper out for a stronger Pokemon and so Repel failed.
UT.
Next would be another I wanted, Nosepass. I got some. I forget how many. I haven't trained one or evolved it yet.
Then I chained Venomoth, another one I wanted because it looks so damn cool. I got one, then....
I forget what happened. Seemed like the same thing happened with Butterfree.........
UT. Used to catch shinies sometimes.
Next, I'd have a drought again, until my (now) friend dialga2008 challenged me to a battle. I then later heard terrible news..... His game had been stolen (i think by his brother) and sold. So he had to buy a new one and start all over again.
One evening later he asked me did I have any shiny Shinx. I didn't.... but secretly vowed to get some. And I did.
But there was something that crushed me to my very soul. It made me fall to my knees and mang my head against the floor, crying and laughing at what I had just done:
I was using a Static Pokemon to draw them in but I was switching a Syncro up front before I enter shiny grass.
Ok, what should've been the 5th....
Sweaty hands. I accidentally selected Teleport.
In the old games it'd ask if you wanted to Teleport to the last Pokemon center you went to.
This time, it didn't.
So as I wailed in pain I just watched my character spin spin spin and leave the shiny grass just one step away.
I made sure that would never happen again by teaching my Abras Flash and move deleting Teleport.
He enjoys his new shiny Shinx though. I kept the better one obviously. I haven't trained it yet. I pseudo trained his though by giving it some vitamins.
Next I waited for Zigzagoon and it came. I failed. Then tried again, and got 2... then a miss-step made me screw up. Sweaty hands again. I got the one I wanted on the first try but then I learned it couldn't get Extremespeed................
UT.
Next would be something amazing. I was training my Eevee, chaining Starlies. I got 40 and got a shiny one but had to leave to give that guy his SHinx.
I came back and tried, failed, tried, failed, tried, and won. All that work paid off:
My Staraptor is one of the best Pokemon I have. It has the right nature (Adamant) and has a 31 Speed IV, and 15 in Attack.
Next would be Misdreavus. I blew through Pearl #2 (I have two) and got the Radar. But I didn't and still don't have the resources like I do on Diamond. On Diamond, I can practically do whatever the hell I want to do. I have all the Synchronizers, money, Pokemon, sleepers, etc., and my trusty Lucario.
On Pearl I had like.. HM slaves, Infernape (hate In4rape) and Palkia (meh). I needed a sleeper and something I could trust.
So I traded over one of my hatchlings from FR: A Vulpix that knows Hypnosis. It's my chainer on Pearl now. I have an affinity with... foxes... so I feel confident there. My Lucario is lucky though.
So I chain Misdreavus.. it's hard. Real hard. I get one at 22 and the chain breaks at 30.
This girl I know asks for Buneary. I tried getting Buneary before in one of the droughts and tried to get it again.
I went through epic hell to get those things. It kept breaking at like 5, 10, 20. Especially just after 20.
Until I decided to walk it.
When I finally had to stop, I got 9 Bunearies in all, and over 83,000 steps taken, not counting the ones I took before that..
And to beat it all, can't learn Switcheroo. Can learn Healing Wish so I'll utilize that. Gave the girl hers, kept mine, and continued onward.
So, what happens next? After the trade I marveled about the gold and silver days of GSC and my old team I used there. One Pokemon of mine was a Dunsparce that I used til the very end.
Just so happens, the Swarm is Dunsparce on Pearl.
I get to 39, shiny grass, capture it, then wait around for more, take a miss-step.... Armpit farting Machop.
The Dunsparce is a total wreck. It doesn't have the nature I wanted, and it doesn't have Serene Grace. It was now that I decided to quit novelty Pokemon and only get what I want that's good.
That night, she wants a snubbull. Just a plain one. I get to talking with my friends and within 2 hours I have 40. That was easy. I got a bunch of them then decide to quit on my own behalf. So she's got 2 shinies off of me now. =P
Next, would be....
What will be next? I keep having to backtrack, like Starly, Buneary and Misdreavus. Currently, I have Misdreavus in the palm of my hand. 39 in the chain with one shiny already from this chain... I'll just wait for more shiny grass. I want 10 more shinies from this. I just have to wait and get them.
From there, I don't know. I'm waiting on Makuhita, and Krabby to Swarm again. I should have a bunch of shiny Krabbies, but the mysterious force screwed up the chain.
Soon, I'm going after what I have desired most since Misdreavus:
Gligar.
It's the reason why I came back. I wanted to chronicle it. I know I can do it.
I also want to try to beat the sandstorm and get shiny Cacturne.
Shiny Gastly is also on my list, since one of my favorites is Gengar. My parents like that Pokemon so it's sentimental.
Tangela is also there but due to coding, they don't swarm in our games. So I'm going to have to kick it old skool 3rd gen if I want one.
I want to try hatching Shroomish, and fishing for Magikarp.
There's a few others but they're minority for now.
Thanks, good luck, and order when ready.
-DDD'SCEPTILE
And there you have it. XD
So, now to finish getting my Misdreavus.
I read all of that post. Was a great read.
I am still going after a shiny Buizel. My SRing is on hold till I get one. I also want to get a shiny team but don't know what i want in it right now. Would like to use a shiny Blaziken in my team as it is one of my favourite pokemon. So I will build a team around that.
I am rushing through my Pearl game. I have done 4 gyms so far. I should complete it tonight and then trade over any pokemon I am missing in the dex to get the pokeradar. I will go for the swarm pokemon first on there. I would also like a shiny ghastly so I will look for that tonight if I can. After I complete Pearl.
Sceptile that's a wall of text if I've ever seen one lol, I got a friend who gets all her shinies off me when I get multiples on chain
What do you mean? Is it still possible for GameStop Deoxys to be shiny via SR? Thanks for the GL though, if only I could get some luck for Uxie. Anyone have any ways to help me insert pictures and quotes into my posts?

I'm not so sure, I'm just saying RSing for a perfect-IV pokemon is hard. Especially with a specific nature.
