Should Recess be part of a kid's school schedule?

Academic success makes a practical failure.
I believe most of children's time should be spent playing, and really, not on a school's pavement but in a field or wood... but the law of many countries say otherwise.
I agree, play when you're a kid and learn when you're older. Playing in the woods and what not will be good physically and mentally. What sorta kid doesn't like building cubbies? ._.
Besides, most kids aren't mature enough to learn (Like me)

That's very vague. You should elaborate or just avoid generalizing such things.

I say a child can perfectly spend large amounts on both. After all, a very fast pathway to true failure is lack of formation.

I really hope you're saying this out of hard feelings to your own childhood schools, and not of extreme naiveté.

I agree with this.

I also agree with this.

Meh, in truth, no on except hyper little elementary-school kids need recess. It does give you exercise (something my mom values over my academics: sometimes she makes me skip my homework to exercise!), but if you don't WANT to play, you just don't... So, only the jocks get play, really. Besides, shouldn't PE be good enough for most people? We get to play dodgeball, so I have no complaints...

Well, for itty bitty kiddies, they need recess, mainly so the teachers don't have to deal with rampaging kids with all of the energy in the world. But for older kids, we don't really need a recess because we can controll ourselves better and be able to sit in a chair all day without going crazy.

I'm so sad we don't have recess anymore. But yes, I think its an important part of the school day. It allows kids to get rid of some extra energy, helping them to focus better when they return to the classroom, which should be a good enough argument for anyone considering removing recess from the schedule, and besides that, its a time for friends, which is nice.

i stoped last year in 7th grade but instead of recess we get big field trips like tis year we went to springfield and sixflags this spring and other field trips that are fun plus we get 1 hour and a half lunch to make friends while little kids go outside

Not really. When I was little I dreaded recess, because I got too hot. I always looked forward to lunch. XD I think from Kindergarten through 2nd Graders should go out to Recess, but once they reach the big 3, (the year where the students reach intermediate level,) it's not really needed anymore. Well, where I live, you stop recess in Middle School.

Well It should be, because our recess is just 20minutes (how cruel). I can't spend a free time in just 20 minutes anyway!

Well there's no recess in ours0_o, but It shouldn't be removed even though I never experience recess before^_^

Well, I never experience recess before in my school, all education for exact! but it shouldn't be removed that's one of the free time of a student even though I never experienced it before.

Eh, I've always had Recess AND Lunch. I don't really like them, as I'd rather get the school day over with quickly, but it still is a nice break from school work and to.... socialize? So I think Half Yes and Half No, based on my personal preference XD.

no...why?
because it distracts them going "ohhhh only 5 min" -super anxious- and it is a distraction so i say NO

When you are about 5 years old, yeah. After I turned 6, it became harsh on my learning side, so I never cared about recess and just sat quietly in front of a monitor reading... and learning programming languages. That was when I was 8 and knew 3 languages. Now, I am trying to make myself pale as I want my hair colour to change into black again and stop using emotions. But, no, I am not lazy. Still, I wouldn't count recess as an exercise, I don't even think PE is needed for a well-taught individual. And my grades are lowering, no matter how hard I work.
