3rd Gen Simple Questions

In Pokemon Fire Red, I have found the single Sun Stone and evolved a Gloom to Bellossom. Now, where is the stone that I can use to evolve the Eevee to an Umbreon?

Also, where can I get the two dragon pokemon you mentioned? (I assume they do not spawn in Fire Red.)

Eevee doesnt evolve by the use of a stone into Umbreon. You need to max Eevee's happiness and then evolve it at night. And as FR/LG does not have the capabilities of the time function. So if you want Umbreon, you need to firstly trade it to R/S/E to do so.

I'm assuming you're looking at the list above, so Rayquaza and Salamance can be located in R/S/E, but not in LG/FR unfortunately.

Great, thanks for the list.

In Pokemon Fire Red, I have found the single Sun Stone and evolved a Gloom to Bellossom. Now, where is the stone that I can use to evolve the Eevee to an Umbreon? Also, with Skarmory, is it better to breed one rather than catch it in the wild due to the fact that there are so few steel moves it can actually learn? (It can learn Steel Wing via level, that's it).

Also, where can I get the two dragon pokemon you mentioned? (I assume they do not spawn in Fire Red.)

Now, for the counter, what are Pokemon you would completely avoid based on their types?
Alex sufficiently covered your Umbreon problem. For Skarmory, you shouldn't teach it any Steel moves. That is not what it is used for. Skarmory is the best physical wall in the game. The Steel/Flying combo gives it a ton of resistances, and its terrific base Def (140) lets it shrug off physical attacks extremely well. If you want a moveset for Skarmory, here you go:

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Trait: Keen Eye
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Drill Peck / Aerial Ace
- Rest / Substitute
- Roar / Whirlwind
- Spikes

You have to choose between Drill Peck and Roar or Aerial Ace and Whirlwind. Drill Peck does more damage than Aerial Ace, but Whirlwind is not affected by Soundproof like Roar is. Skarmory doesn't play as well in-game though, with all the limitations on the crappy AI. It really excels in competitive play where you can punish your opponent for switching with Spikes, something the AI isn't programmed to do.

If you want this type list restricted to FR, here you go:

Bug: Heracross

Dark: NONE

No Umbreon, Houndoom, or even Sneasel in FireRed.

Dragon: Dragonite

Electric: Zapdos (Legendary) and Jolteon

Fighting: Machamp

Fire: Ho-oh (Legendary) and Charizard

Charizard wins for lack of good Fire-types.

Flying: Dodrio

Ghost: Gengar

Grass: Venusaur

Ground: Donphan

Good stats and an adequate movepool.

Ice: Articuno and Jynx

Without Regice, Articuno reigns supreme. Jynx is just a good choice and maybe even better than Walrein in some areas.

Normal: Snorlax

Poison: Weezing

Psychic: Mewtwo (Legendary) and Alakazam

Rock: Tyranitar

Steel: Skarmory

Water: Suicune (Legendary) and Lapras

Now, for a reverse list. I don't have the time to identify them all, so I will just point out the worst, limiting the list to FR again and I won't bother with pre-evolutions like Pichu or Charmander:

Bug: Any not called Heracross, Scizor, or Butterfree

Butterfree is only listed here since in-game you can abuse its Compundeyes Trait effectively against the pathetic AI.

Dark: Murkrow

Crap.

Dragon: NONE

Electric: NONE

Fighting: The Hitmons

Fire: Flareon and Magcargo

I avoid Fire-types in general, but Flareon has a horrible movepool and Magcargo a horrible typing.

Flying: Anything not called Fearow or Dodrio

Ghost: NONE

Grass: Sunflora and Jumpluff

Ground: Marowak, unless you have Thick Club

Most Ground-types are Type 2, which limits the selection here. Type 1 Ground is actually pretty good.

Ice: Delibird

More crap.

Normal: Ditto, Lickitung, Aipom, and Furret

I am sure there are more.

Poison: Arbok

Psychic: Unown

Rock: NONE

Nosepass is not in FR.

Steel: NONE

Mawile is not in FR.

Water: Corsola, Qwilfish, and Seaking

Most crappy Waters were introduced in RSE.

Wow, you are truly the source™ on veritable information here, and I appreciate the time you take to respond to my questions.

What do you think of Bellossom? Now that I have it, it's level 43 and for some really weird reason, only has the skills Absorb, Cut (trained back when it was an oddish) and Acid.

I only have 3 moves and it's at level 43. WTF.

As a grass type, how should I use it? I really don't want to feel I've wasted the sun stone with it, because it's such a cute Poke :D But, here are my questions:

1) Any more sun stones in FR other than the one in Island 7?

2) There's no way I can get another Bellossom, is there :(

3) Is Vileplume better than Bellossom anyway?

I don't know about that, but thanks for the sentiment. I really enjoy helping people learn more about the game and especially correcting bad habits that the weak AI has taught them.

Sorry, but Bellossom is a waste of a Pokemon. Kind of like Politoed. Totally unnecessary, not as good as its predecessor, and outclassed by too many other Pokes. To me, it was just added just because Game Freak couldn't think of something better. DP is FULL of Pokes like that. TWO Roselia evos???? What a joke. [/endrant]

I only have 3 moves and it's at level 43. WTF.

That is the funniest thing about that Poke. Oddish starts out with Absorb and ONLY learns Acid. Gloom, Vileplume, and Bellossom don't learn any other moves either. You simply cannot get a good Vileplume/Bellossom without teaching it TMs or breeding for Egg moves.

As a grass type, how should I use it?

Bellossom is best used as a special attacker. As I said before, there are MANY other Pokes that do a better job, but if you like it, why not use it? I will include its best moveset at the bottom.

I really don't want to feel I've wasted the sun stone with it, because it's such a cute Poke :D But, here are my questions:

1) Any more sun stones in FR other than the one in Island 7?

No. Actually, I wasn't even aware of the one on Seven Island. I will have to add it to my database. Do you remember exactly where you got it?

2) There's no way I can get another Bellossom, is there :(

Not unless you start over. Sorry.

3) Is Vileplume better than Bellossom anyway?

I think so, mainly because Vileplume is a better utility Poke that can also learn Aromatherapy to help out its teammates, something Bellossom cannot do.
Bellossom's best moveset:

Bellossom @ Leftovers
Trait: Chlorophyll
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Sleep Powder
- Solarbeam
- Sunny Day
- Toxic / Charm

Sleep Powder the first turn and then Sunny Day. This activates its trait to make it more than likely the fastest Poke on the field. You should be familiar with the other effect involving Solarbeam. Toxic is for anything that Solarbeam cannot do good damage against, and Charm can be used to cut physical damage from your opponent.

The Women in Island 2,What Does She Do?
Avoid her. Avoid her like the plague!!!!

What she does is teach your Blastoise/Charizard/Venusaur an elemental version of Hyper Beam. Blastoise gets the craptacular Hydro Cannon. Charizard gets the craptastic Blast Burn, and Venusaur get the crapazing Frenzy Plant. Like the original crappy Hyper Beam, these moves are two-turn moves that hit the first move with a good 150 Attack Power, but require a turn to "recharge". Just keep in mind that attacking twice in two turns with Surf, Flamethrower, and Razor Leaf will do more damage than attacking once with those craperiffic moves that take two turns. Just say NO to the lady and run away, as fast as you can.

The Sun Stone is just down about 1/3rd of the way, after you go to the right, enter Sevault Canyon, go down the steps on the right, move over to the left. You can find it near a patch of grass in the center area. It's not hidden.

Oh, and will my Bellossom learn ANYTHING else?

I have a new question. How do you get the HMs Cut and Flash in LG?I'm up to Lt.Surge.

Oh, and will my Bellossom learn ANYTHING else?

Depends on your level. It can learn two attacks after evo.

Lvl 44: Petal Dance
Lvl 55: Solarbeam

Oh, and will my Bellossom learn ANYTHING else?
Alex covered that very well. I was way off base in my comment on what Oddish/Gloom/Vileplume/Bellossom can learn. That was a senior moment on my part. Those are happening a bit too frequently, I am afraid. Here is what the different evos will be able to learn:

Oddish
Lv1 Absorb
Lv7 Sweet Scent
Lv14 Poisonpowder
Lv16 Stun Spore
Lv17 Sleep Powder
Lv23 Acid
Lv32 Moonlight
Lv39 Petal Dance

Gloom
Lv1 Absorb
Lv7 Sweet Scent
Lv14 Poisonpowder
Lv16 Stun Spore
Lv17 Sleep Powder
Lv24 Acid
Lv35 Moonlight
Lv44 Petal Dance

Bellossom
Lv1 Absorb
Lv1 Acid
Lv1 Magical Leaf
Lv1 Moonlight
Lv1 Poisonpowder
Lv1 Sleep Powder
Lv1 Stun Spore
Lv1 Sweet Scent
Lv44 Petal Dance
Lv55 Solarbeam

Vileplume
Lv1 Absorb
Lv1 Acid
Lv1 Aromatherapy
Lv1 Mega Drain

Lv1 Moonlight
Lv1 Poisonpowder
Lv1 Sleep Powder
Lv1 Stun Spore
Lv1 Sweet Scent
Lv44 Petal Dance

leaf green or fire ? which one of them i can get a vaporeon ... or both?

You can get Vappy in both games. All you need is to get Eevee from the top of Celadon Mansion and then using a Water Stone (which can be bought from the Celadon Dept. Store) Eevee will evolve into Vaporeon. There's no restricition to which game you're playing.

How does Tyranitar get DD by breeding?

Dragon Dance
Gyarados (lvl 50) --> Charmander --> Larvitar
Altaria (lvl 40) --> Charmander --> Larvitar
Horsea (lvl 50) --> Charmander --> Larvitar

Few options, its up to you... if they are more someone else can fill you in

**Note: Altaria can only be caught in R/S/E

whats code breaker and wher do you get 'em. i read of code breaker codes all the time, is it like gameshark?

I will assume they are codes for cheating. You should ask in the stickied cheater code thread for help on that.

I have never successfully caught all 28 Unowns on LeafGreen. I've gone to all the chambers but I'm still short a few, such as !, ?, X, Z, V, U, R and others.
Should I use a repelling item with a Pokèmon so only things above that level show up? (Note: My highest is a Lv.56 Dragonite, I'm not very far along yet...) Do I need to use a special move, like Dig or something?

You cannot use Repel to target certain Unown and there is no trick to it. You just have to keep at it and eventually you will catch the ones you are missing. Just in case you don't have this info, here is a list of which Unown appear in which chamber:

VIAPOIS CHAMBER (top)
Unown Z
Unown ? (Rare)

RIXY CHAMBER (bottom)
Unown V
Unown W
Unown X
Unown M (Rare)
Unown B (Rare)

SCUFIB CHAMBER
Unown Y
Unown K
Unown F
Unown G (Rare)
Unown T (Rare)

DILFORD CHAMBER
Unown P
Unown J
Unown L
Unown Q (Rare)
Unown R (Rare)

WEEPTH CHAMBER
Unown N
Unown S
Unown I (Rare)
Unown E (Rare)

LIPTOO CHAMBER
Unown C
Unown H
Unown D
Unown U (Rare)
Unown O (Rare)

MONEAN CHAMBER
Unown A
Unown ! (Rare)

BTW - this isn't my list so I cannot guarantee its accuracy, but I trust the source I got it from

Well, I didn't know some of them were "rare" but yeah it says that in an old strategy guide I have.
Thanks anyway tho :) Maybe I'll print that.
