Solgaleo and Lunaala comparing to previous generation's box legendaries?

I'm not the biggest fan of them, tbh. Although Xerneas has been the first legendary in a long time that I've really loved, especially as a cover legendary. Between the two, I do like Solgaleo more, but I can't shake the feeling that it's basically Liger Zero from Zoids lol...

For me personally, there is usually one box legendary that has a much better design than the other and therefore it makes which version I buy quite easy. If I just ignore the 3rd version legendaries for now, my choices have went Groudon > Kyogre, Dialga > Palkia, Reshiram > Zekrom, Xerneas > Yveltal. My exception to the rule was always Lugia & Ho-oh because they're both great, though I prefer Ho-oh.

In this case, I'm not a fan of either design, but at the same time, neither of them are terrible. I would probably place them both above Kyogre and Palkia, both of which I find very ugly, but below all the others. I also prefer all the 3rd version mascots over these two (Zygarde would be the exception to this in a parallel universe were Pokemon Z exists). Regardless of the potential third mascot, I would say this is easily the worst concept for the duos/trios so far.

Solgaleo probably narrowly beats out Lunala for me, but I've pre-ordered Moon version which is probably the first time the cover mascot hasn't made the decision for me.

If I was going to order this by generation then it would be as follow. This should also be considered a tl;dr because I realise no one should post this much about the quality of cover mascots.

1. Ho-oh / Lugia
2. Xerneas / Yveltal
3. Reshiram / Zekrom
4. Solgaleo / Lunala
5. Groudon / Kyogre
6. Dialga / Palkia
 
I'd say they're about the same as most the other ones. Except maybe Lugia and Ho-oh. Kyogre and Groudon weren't that great in my opinion -- but that being said, that was my least favorite generation of Pokemon, so..
 
I fell in love with them at first sight!
My previous all time favorite legend is Mewtwo,
But now it's Solgaleo! This may sound strange,
But I think I like Solgaleo due to nostalgia...

I can see the resemblance. Solgaleo is quite the Pokemon, too -- and a big part of why I'm buying Pokemon Sun. {XD}
 
Just like most of the posters... I like them...

The Metallic/Galactic design looks really cool, and that sleek yet simple design makes them pleasing to the eyes.

I'm more interested in them plot wise tho... as this time; with the introduction of cosmog. It seems that you have a closer ties with the legionaries than ever before!

The thought of the possibility of Cosmog evolving to protect you from the Ultra beasts is getting me super excited.
 
I love both of these different legendary Pokemon, and I much prefer them over 4th and 5th gen's box legends, which I was never really into much.
They might be my favorite game mascots so far, especially Solgaleo. Really, only the 3rd gen legendaries come close.
 
Solgaleo one is better than all gen 6 pairs. Lunaala's design is weird and I found previous box arts were better than this one. Gen 3 box arts were the best and the gen 4 was worst (at least what i think).
 
I think my favorite thing about their design is their faces. It reminds me of those galaxy/nebula wallpapers that people make on Photoshop. Their designs are also simple but majestic, and I like Xerneas and Yveltal for that same reason.
 
I wasn't super huge on them at first, but they're really growing on me! I love Solgaleo a bit more. Compared to the other legendaries though, I don't really know, better than Dialga and Palkia at least.
