I'm new to spriting, How exactly does one Index a sprite correctly. I've looked in the Guide's and resources page and can't find it

I recently swithed to Windows XP and something bugs me. In Win98, MS Paint would allow you to apply transparent backgrounds to your GIF files; XP MS Paint doesn't. Are there any freeware programs I could download to apply transparent background to my GIF files?

You need a .bmp or .gif file to make a transparent .gif of it. You can pick the transparent color yourself.

Some of these are older, but I'd like some opinions on my scratches:

It's some of my better work. The center two are more like what I'd be making on a regular basis, since the other two took quite some time and were commemorative.

I know dolls aren't done here as much, but I'd like some advice on a WIP if possible.

- The base had hair already and so I modified it from what was already there, but I'm not sure of how I want to finish it. I tried shading it once or twice and was disgusted with the results. It was a thrown-together doll I did during the TGIO party for NaNo and I was absolutely exhausted, but I like it enough that I'd like to finish it. (Sorry for the background -- it'll be gone when it's done.)

Wow lol those are not badm i like the weaville abomasnow but it looks like a really fat weavile more than a mix. I really like the pixel over of rioku it looks nice but the shading on the left ear is bit..wierd to me.
all the revamps are done prety well..millionare and the...gangsta? look really good to me..i guess that's it, well done. :)

I made this Charizard not too long ago.

I think it turned out pretty good. Can someone clear up if it would be considered a scratch or not? Because I completely copied the pose of my reference:

But it's not a pixel over. Done 100 percent with ze pencil tool.

So whacha think?

@MissMegano your Charizard is amazing...i am not sure, but it seems u have not used the normal colors of a charizard
@Burstninja:Well u asked how it looks, it looks like a cocuna with green fur.., but my scratches suck, so yeah.

Too much dithering, not enough depth, too flat and a bit blocky. All of these are easily sorted out though, and you didn't do a bad job, those are just what need improving.

Try using smoother 'block' shading instead of dithering, have it curve to fit the light source. Smooth out some of those outlines, add a bit of dark green into them.

You should be on the right path if you follow those tips.

hey! thanks for telling me about my charizard! and no, i didn't use the d/p sprite colors for it. i tried to make it look more like he does in the anime.

-Burst Ninja, it's pretty good for a first, I'd say. I kinda like the dithering. I makes it look fuzzy. :) Maybe try a more interesting pose?

Oh and now you wanna say: Well than we both made the same...Wrong! I used random colors and took them out of Paint and just clicked anywhere with my mouse...so the chance to have the same colors is under 0% I think...

A warning will be issued to RomsMaster and the sprite in question deleted from his post.
