Ah, you beat me to it! Happy May the 4th everyone!
I wish Star Wars 1313 became a thing. :<
I wish I was looking forward to the ninth movie but somehow I'm not much? Hm.
Not to be an ignorant ass but what do you mean by that?
- If Kylo Ren was supposed to stay a villain, they would have made him uglier.
- While he did kill Han Solo, Solo wanted him to be better and knew he could. Luke also believed he could be redeemed too.
- He spent two movies being conflicted over his sith transition.
- Kylo is the genetic end of the Skywalker family and he's not going to die evil and childless.
- They're not letting Kylo wrack up a lot of kills. It's implied that he's murdered many people, but how many named, loved characters have died by his hands?
- He couldn't kill his mom.
- What would the moral even be is he stays evil and dies? Star Wars follows certain narrative beats, and "friendship conquers all" is one of them.
- The return of the Emperor. If that's what they're doing, there's no point in Kylo acting as a secondary villain.
The Emperor does indeed muddy the waters and points to Redemption arc for Kylo. I just don't like it because its already been done and would be refreshing if there was a character that was beyond saving or couldn't be saved. Ahsoka would be the ideal character to snap him back to the good side because no one alive can attest to have known Anakin Skywalker but Ahsoka. Seeing as Kylo reveres his Grandfather, perhaps Ahsoka would be the one to tell him what type of person he truly was. One more thing regarding the Emperor. With the Emperor supposedly back, the Star Wars Rebels series immediately sprang to mind. For those who didn't watch, don't read the spoiler:
Spoiler:In Rebels, the protagonists head back to Lothal in the final season(Season 4) and uncover more about Lothal's deep connection with the Force. In one particular Episode, Ezra manages to cross over into this plane where time essentially stops and is able to see not only the past but also the future. Not only that but he's able to connect or see all the planets that are intricately connected to the Force. Most planets that have that quality have Sith or Jedi Temples built upon them, including Lothal. While in this plane, he sees the duel between Ahsoka and Darth Vader and pulls Ahsoka to safety before the blast that destroys the Sith Temple back in Season 2 kills her. In other words, a future Ezra is the reason Ahsoka survived and before the Episode ends, Ahsoka goes back to her spot in the timeline and basically has to find her way off-world since Ezra and Kanan escape on one of the ships while Vader and Maul escape on the other available craft. It was theorized during that Season 2 finale that she did indeed survived but it wasn't conclusively known until Season 4. Before going back Ezra tells her to seek him out and that is why at the end of the series finale that Ahsoka meets up with Sabine to go searching for Ezra). Its in this plane that the Emperor could have somehow escaped to only to re-appear years later elsewhere in the Galaxy. It also would yield the possibility that Ezra, Ahsoka and Sabine could make a return(or live screen debut). Heck any past character strong and knowledgeable in the Force could access this alternate realm to change the course of history or the timeline. Basically Star Wars meets Back to the Future or Avengers if we want to go there... lol
I've actually become a Star Wars fan in my absence. So I'd like to join.
Name: Cid
Favorite Character(s): It used to be Obi-Wan, but now I like Finn and Poe more. Han Solo is a fun character as well.
When did you first start watching? When Rogue One was airing, my friend who was a huge Star Wars fan invited us to watch as well, and I liked it so much that I marathoned the first seven episodes, December of that year.
I didn't watch the Star Wars Rebels series so I can't read the spoiler. But I do find it interesting that Kylo can still have some sort of redemption arc despite his actions in TLJ. The Emperor being back, and JJ Abrams probably wanting to pay homage to Vader making a heel-face turn in the third act, would point to Kylo following suit. Whatever happens, I'm excited for TRoS.
As for what I'm anticipating the most, I am excited for more Poe/Finn shenanigans. TLJ barely made them interact, and TFA was proof that they had on-screen chemistry as platonic bros.
