Yup, I always stick with my starter. Without them, games become quite a bit difficult. :P Only time I would see myself not using my starter would be when I'm taking on some sort of challenge.
I always stick with my starter. It always becomes the most powerful member of my team. I cannot think of any situation where I would not have my starter Pokemon, other than when I feel like having it breed.
I always keep the starter. It's the first Pokemon you get so why get rid of it? Plus I personally thunk they're great Pokemon and even though I train all of my Pokemon, I still have my starter with me no matter what.
Starter pokemon are designed to be among the most powerful options you have in the long run (all eighteen if them have a BST between 525 and 535), so you might as well take advantage of having them. ^_^
I tend to keep my starter with me, they always seem to do their job well and remain powerful allies thanks to their solid base stat totals and access to some good moves. I don't I'll ever leave behind my starter on any game unless if I was doing something that required me to, like a challenge.
I'm actually the opposite of this haha. I've played the games so many times, I often box the starter from the get go (especially gen V lol). For challenges though, and these days though I play mostly Nuzlocke runs, the starters are pretty vital so you kinda have to hang onto them.
Besides challenges where I'm not using a starter (such as a monotype where none of the starters are of the type I'm using), I always use my starter. This lets me eventually get to use every starter in a playthrough for each generation. However, there is at least one exception to this rule that I remember making. It was on one of the Hoenn games and I had chosen Treeko and ran into a shiny Shroomish very early in the game. Although I was looking forward to using Treeko, I decided to box it and use Shroomish instead. I'm also fairly positive that I would ditch my starter for a similar reason in any other game.
The only time ive ditched my starter during regular gameplay was in Black2. I dont really like the Grn5 starters that much and i had already used Ohsawott in White, so i decided to box my starter and now use him.
After the 5th generation, I have kept the starter because I love their design and the animal it was based on, most of the earlier generations I didn't keep the starter. [they are Oshawott & Fennekin]
Answer question - sometimes I do and sometimes I don't (when I'm playing a specific challenge and the starter doesn't fit in, like my Cat Team, none of the starters are based on cats).
I usually keep my starters on every team. It's a good staple for whatever type I choose in the beginning. XY gave me a hard decision, because I didn't want to use both Kalos and Kanto starters, so I switched periodically so I wouldn't feel bad. '_'
I almost never ditch my starter. From Gen I-VI, I've always stuck and used my starter. There was only one playthrough where I ditched my starter, but that was for a solo Rhyperior run.
It just feels weird leaving the starter behind to me. Like, it feels like I'm playing the game wrong if I ever box/ditch my starter.
