The immensely popular Stranger Things is back for a second season, airing this Friday October 27th!

This article has a good summary of where we left off Season 1 for those who aren't rewatching, and what we know about Season 2 so far.

So, who's exciting? What do you hope to see in Season 2? How are you prepping yourself to revisit the Upside Down?

I've not really read anything about the second season. Is it going to be connected to the first season at all? I think I heard that it would only have a few references & cameos and that's going to be it.

It's set about a year later than S1. Same characters + a couple new characters.
Deals with a different type of monster apparently, not sure. Haven't looked at this part much.
S1 ended with two cliffhangers:
- is Eleven alive? Is she in the Upside Down or the human world?
- Will throwing up the slug - what will this mean?
pretty sure both these questions will be answered in the season.

I haven't looked at a lot of plot spoilers tbh but it will be directly connected from what I've seen

S1 spoiler / speculation

There were a lot of things left at the end of season one. When Joyce and Hopper went to the upside down there was a big egg that had already hatched. (The one that looked like the cover for the movie Alien.) All kinds of weird things could come over to the normal world besides the demogorgon. And the secret government science guys look like they might still be messing around with things and not learning their lessons from S1.

I hope Will gets to do more than just be sick and in bed all the time this season, but I wonder if he isn't a host for some kind of creature that's going to do something awful to him.

S1 spoiler / speculation

I hope Will gets to do more than just be sick and in bed all the time this season, but I wonder if he isn't a host for some kind of creature that's going to do something awful to him.

I do feel like something bad will happen to him again with a creature, pure guy can't catch a break. The Dustin/Lucas/Mike trio seems to be quite established and strong so can't see them breaking that up and having someone else get affected by something instead tbh. but we will see!

I finally convinced my brother to start watching so I've been watching episodes with him the last week. Good opportunity to recap on S1 since it's been a while! Not long to go till S2 launches :D only a few more hours!

Okay, so season 2 was

really good. Like, really good. They could end it right there and it would be good. In fact, I worry that it can only go downhill from here. I don't know what they would do with a third season.

I'm curious. Did any one else think that Bob was going to be evil in some way? Like, maybe he was working with the lab somehow, trying to get information from Will or something. I was kinda surprised that Bob turned out just to be a normal, good guy. Will was also genuinely creepy when he was being possessed. Also, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Steve being around.

One of the things I loved about the first season was how, just before something big was revealed you got this moment where you knew what you had been expecting was wrong and you have this moment of clarity and know exactly what is coming now. When all of them were off trying to lure Dart out in the night and the fog and he wasn't coming you knew: something's wrong, oh no, there are going to be more than one.

I'm also sad Dart died. More sad than I am that Bob died. And I liked Bob.

Babysitter Mama Steve is the best. I too was surprised how much I enjoy his interactions with the kids. Hopper and Eleven's interactions are great too.

While still watching the show, I know some people on Tumblr theorizing Bob is evil, but I didn't get any bad vibes from him and glad that was the case.

stray observations

- knew bob was gonna get fucked up when they showed hopper & joyce reminiscing about years past and sharing a very obvious This Is the True Relationship moment. i didn't think he was evil or sinister, i just didn't put much investment in him because i knew he was gonna snuff it.

- episode 7 was a terrible attempt at creating a backdoor pilot/a tie-in that could be expanded later on in a different medium. didn't care at all whatsoever for that bottle episode. kali could have been put to far better use rather than the 'welp here's the suddenly introduced foil to eleven that she can't stomach and who will go off to have her own adventures!'

- paul reiser looks OLD

- lucas needs more of a purpose than providing the blossoming of the hetero feelings weak subplot that was apparently needed when eleven couldn't be around 95% of the time. this is the second season he's been shafted. his sister was more important, really!

Great season!! And I loved the ending. I had serious Mike/Eleven feels since forever and this was so perfect and cute askhjdkd

I really couldn't care less for Max and her brother. The season and plot would have been just the same (but less annoying) without them. Max felt like some stupid "we should have a girl there" and she was completely redundant and boring.

Steve was really good in this season. Him being the babysitter/Dustin's friend was super fun and heart warming to watch. While the whole first season did make it seem like Jonathan and omgiveforgottenhername Mike's sister would get together in the end, it was kind of cool and surprising that she stuck with the new improved Steve instead. Kind of disappointing that things ended up this way now, but also gave Steve room to be relevant in his own way, I suppose.

I didn't care much for Bob at all, he really felt like somebody temporary. And indeed.

The doctor, I thought he was going to be an evil/purposefully bad doctor, but it turned out he was just seeing things for what they seemed like and didn't know about any supernatural stuff. Once he saw proof of it, he became an ally and that was refreshing.

Hopper and Joyce are <3

Yea it could end here, idk what they would make season 3 about.
