Hey guys, what's going on in this thread?
"the triple-breasted whore of Eroticon Six"
Oh, okay.
Things have been weird here.

You know, the funny thing is no one got the reference but that's something that you hear even if you haven't engaged in Hitchhiker's at all. It's just a reference that circulates- never touched Hitchhiker's but I've heard that a few times at least.

Granted, it's definitely more of a nerd thing. No doubt I've heard it because I follow things like The Nostalgia Critic and Game Grumps.

But yeah, no. I'm sure it's great, but I probs won't read Hitchhiker's. Still not into this whole "reading" thing.

Reading is one of the best things you can do for relaxation. It's up there with listening to music and trips to the site which houses a sorrowful Chinese bear.

I try to get through a couple of books per month, although I'll admit that I've probably not been hitting that target this year. Unless you don't classify audiobooks as cheating, I listen to those on a daily basis. They certainly make 3am walks in the rain less depressing.

Yeah, I've heard the movie's pretty solid. I'll give it a watch and branch out from there.

Well I can definitely agree with the music and arguably the trip (though I don't really indulge in the bear's site, specifically). Reading, though...it's pretty difficult to get me engaged.

It's actually pretty ironic, because it's easy to keep me engaged in game writing and specifically physical manga, but books? That's effort. Though I do get a fair bit of relaxation out of games and manga, so even those are better alternatives for me.

And it's not that I have anything against them, that'd be a pretty broad statement, I just...don't...like reading books. Generally. And as much as I think that people should read, I'm not really a fan of this idea that someone who doesn't enjoy reading books is suddenly this gross, uneducated savage that can survive only on instant gratification and visual stimulation that permeates throughout...several cultures. Fuck off society, people are different. Variety's great. Homogenization can suck it.

I read manga volumes pretty regularly. Good for if I want some no-screen time, since I probably average 12+ hours of screen time a day between work and hobbies. At my reading pace, it takes me about 45 minutes per volume.

Non manga and LN books are a different story since I basically haven't read any of mine since graduating high school, mostly out of not feeling it.

... which reminds me that I need to watch Deathly Hallows Part 2 at some point to finish off the Harry Potter movies.

It's Hitchhiker's Guide to the bloody Galaxy!

And I thought you all cultured.

I never read it because I was put off by the cover of the beaten up copy my brother had that made it look like it was for kids while I was in my teens. And now I just can't be assed to find a copy.

I never read LOTR, either. Just The Hobbit. That was required school reading when I was 13/14.

And I have a couple of Pratchett books that I'm just being lazy about reading as well.

Getting a job and having classes within walking distance from a bookstore makes reading manga a nice little luxury that I can take advantage of every now and again. It's nice.

Buuuut that in mind, I'm pretty much the same. I think the last manga I finished was School Rumble. So it's been at least 5 years.
