Plundering the food depot today.. to realise groceries are been done tomorrow :(

I still have money in my bank account, ordering pizza and potatoes it is!

224149. I think macho still works some retail job or something. IDK though, because there are other jobs with inconsistent schedules. When I was working manufacturing, the only guarantee was that I'd start at 2 PM on every weekday. No guarantees whether I'd have a full shift of work or not, though I would typically know if it was my turn to work overtime on a particular weekend or not because that was on a seniority based rotation.

I have an inconsistent end time on my job. Starting time every Sat. is always 8am, but depending on the work that needs to be done, it can end either as early as 2PM, or as late as 6PM.

I also always start at 8 o'clock in the morning, have lunch at 12, start again at half past 2 and end my shift somewhere around 6/7 pm max.

Do you just head off to your office at random hours and hope your shift is about to start?
Don's pretty close, couple that with the fact that I'm a part-timer and they don't have me on for too many days for whatever reason. There also seems to be little communication between managers, so what ends up happenings is that for a few weeks I'll be rotated between two specific days, but then they'll throw a curveball and have me on, say, a Monday, because a manager didn't...I would assume, anyway...have my availability, but they also wouldn't contact me about it.

And that would normally be fine except for the fact that more often than not this will happen after I'm already done for the week and really have no way of seeing the revised schedule other than going in.

*sigh*, really wish they had automated messages or even a way to check on the employee site, because this shit's been going on for too long.

Sounds rough. Do you at least have a set amount of hours that they are required to give you each week?

I'm lucky to have regular communication with my bosses. Granted I'm a bit annoyed that they essentially told me I could change my weekend to Fri/Sat and then changed their mind a week later before anythign was signed. I ended up swapping my Friday off for a Wednesday, which works for me as I'm more likely to have late night football games on a Tuesday night.

Not anymore, they generally cut back our hours after Christmas and it usually goes back up. Dunno what's going on with the TJ Maxx payroll rn but I still haven't seen that rise, basically been working 1 day weeks since the beginning of the year, which isn't good since I have loans closing in.

But yeah, I honestly envy that. I mean, it's shitty, but at least they aren't going to slap your shit for missing a shift you otherwise wouldn't have known about. This is really my first job which kind of makes the line of "How things should be" really blurred for me, and for a long time I thought it was just my fault for not being attentive enough. I'm not gonna take all the blame off my shoulders, but I'll definitely say that how things are really don't benefit the employee all too much.

Honestly that style of management would explain the utter havoc on the shop floors of their UK tentacle (TK Maxx).

I hope you're applying for other things. I don't know much about US work culture and employee rights but that doesn't seem on to me, it's essentially a zero hour contract without the benefit to the employee.
