Today I had to write about Portuguese politics. Such a mess.

As if no one knew that this would happen. The lefties and the Socialist Party (notice that I differentiated between both) will now probably reject the government in the Assembly (unless the Socialist Party wants to bury themselves further) and this will just be left stale until the next President is elected.
This way the President just washes his hands on the last 6 months of his term (period when his powers are reduced) and leaves the problem for the next guy to solve.

I know. He's essentially leaving Portugal without a Government for at least 6 months because apparently there is a new mantra between Iberian conservatives that The Party With The Most Votes should govern even if they are outnumbered in Parliament... which runs counter to the principles of Parliamentary Democracy.

I wonder what our king will do in a couple months when Rajoy's PP gets The Most Votes (under 30% though) and the other parties propose a Government without him.
