So, do you ever get irrated by the way people mispronounce things to your disliking in pokemon? What pokemon words that people mispronounce at times irritate you the most?

For example...the word "pokemon" itself. Do you get irritated whenever someone proncounces it: "poke-a-mon" or "poke-ee-mon"?

[those are just some examples, mind you.]

I'm never irritated by mispronunciations of Pokemon by people. It's a part of life, saying it in a certain way until you're used to it. I always used to call a Kyogre like (ki • oh • gray), which now that I think about it was weird. Now I pronounce it properly like they do in the anime. Also with the word "Pokemon" itself. This is a biggie for me, as no one ever pronounces it properly. It's actually meant to be pronounced (po • kay • mon), but no one does that, because deep in their heart, they know that it should be pronounced like eh or ah or ee. Also there's the whole thing with Rayquaza, which I swear I heard it like (Ray • Quay • Zuh), which I thought was weird. It was from the anime as well, which makes it more weird. :/

And don't get me started on Axew. Axew as I see it should be pronounced like (ax • yew), while apparently on the anime, it's pronounced like (ack • shoo) which is very weird.

This reminds me of the only incident that bothers me from a different game, but in reverse; when Square officially announced how Tidus' name was pronounced in Kingdom Hearts. I personally think 'Ty-dus' sounds better than 'Tee-dus', but that's another subject entirely... xD

Onto the actual subject at hand, it doesn't really bother me all that much. Though I honestly don't really think I've come across many Pokemon that call things differently, unless they're doing it on purpose. (such as 'look at my pokimans!', or something of the like)

The... only other one I can think of is the multiple ways to say Rattata; I've heard people refer to it as 'Ra-ta-ta', while I personally refer to it as 'Rat-a-ta'. But to the point, it doesn't really bother me at all. Since pronunciation really only comes from having watched the TV show, I can't blame people for pronouncing names differently than others. (though I tell a lie; Stadium/2 and PBR also call Pokemon by their names, lol)

    HORRENDOUS!

Do you get irritated whenever someone proncounces it: "poke-a-mon" or "poke-ee-mon"?

Actually, one time I did. However, the person pronounced it poke-MAN! My goodness. The very same person pronounced pikachu like this: pi-ka-chao. Like those little guys in Sonic games!

I always used to call Arceus "Ark-e-us". One thing that really bugs me now is my little brother (11 now, so he's not so little) calls Kyurem "ky-room"

Edit: After watching the Pokemon EP01, I just noticed that I've always pronounced Nidorino as "Ni-du-rie-no" (the "u" is just a blank sound for me... I don't usually even voice it. I pronounce the last two syllables like the actual word "rhyno") instead of how it's pronounced in the anime: "Ni-do-ree-no"

Not really, but it does annoy me when you tell the person the correct Pronunciation and then they still pronounce it wrong. For example, My father does it all of the time. He calls Pokemon, "Pokey-Mon" and when I say to him it's "Poke-e-mon". He still says it wrong.

Even on the adverts they do it sometimes.

Advert: "Now it's time for Pokey-mon".

    Me: "=____="

In "Can't Stop Catching 'Em All," by the Presidents of the United States of America, I was very annoyed by how Reuniclus was pronounced. It should have been "Ree-you-nye-clus."

I hate it when people do stuff like that. I am like get it right!

My friend calls Archeops Arkieops and Beheeyem Bahayem. That gets on my nerves when we battle. He also pronounces Mos Eisley (as in the Star Wars location) as "Mosa Lisa".

I found it incredibly insane how the anime called Raikou Rai-koo in the special with Jimmy and Marina.

When people pronounce "Isshu" as "Yew-noh-vah".

Seriously, though, I remember when my friend pronounced Plusle as "Plus-lee" and Minun as "Mih-nun". Annoyed the crap out of me, and I remember arguing with him over it.

I do not like it when my boyfriend pronounces Cofagrigus as "Co-fag-gri-gus" it annoys me because it's my favorite 5th generation Pokemon >_<". He even saw the episode with me when Cofagrigus was in it and he still pronounces it wrong

is anyone else just reading this thread, saying the names outloud over and over?
...my parents must think im crazy.

ontopic tho, Rayquaza is a tricky one though. I used to always say "Ra-Qua-Zah", but now I say "Ray-Quay-Zah", and I think it better.

Honestly, it doesn't bother me, especially when the anime says a Pokemon's name one way, my buddies have another pronounciation, and the commentator in Stadium 1/2 has yet a third pronounciation.

I probably get some of them wrong anyway, like Suicune and Raikou, and I'm not always consistent with what pronounciation I use xD

I don't really mind too much when people mispronounce aspects of Pokemon because it's just how people naturally see (or hear) it to be. As long as people can understand the general aspect of what the want to say (for example: Po-kay-mon) then it isn't too much of a problem, in my opinion.

However, if people mispronouce Pokemon to mock or otherwise act derogatory towards the franchise then I'm quite bothered by their actions. Otherwise, I have no problem with it.

I don't get irritated by mispronunciations, I usually use them myslelf. XD; I find it quite funny rather than annoying tbh; and I like how everyone has their own way of pronouncing certain wods of names. I still say Kyroge (Ki - rogue) and Pokemon (Po-keh-mon).
