Well the prices may go down closer to the release date, I don't really think the proper retail prices have been decided yet. The same thing happened with the DS.:::EDIT:::
One thing I have just seen is the games for the 3DS are £39.99. THAT IS THE SAME PRICE AS A PS3 or a 360 game.
Rip off!

If not, im sure games are probably worth that much, this is a new console afterall.
Team Fail said:I don't think $250 is that bad, when you see all the crap it comes with, like the 2GB memory card, and all the preinstalled software. I think that is a good price for the technology, as well. When you think about it, the Wii was almost $500 at the initial release.
Maybe so, but I'd like to see how projection can affect gameplay. But it CAN be~ Developers can be very creative, ya know. c: And that's odd, I heard it was ridiculously amazing. Plus, you really aren't supposed to move it off to the side. :o Also, the joystick is on there. That is always an improvement. XD
And I've heard it was unimpressive, for what it's supposed to be focused on....Noooo, but I have been hearing it is really cool! I can take it on that~

Team Fail said:Well, didn't they have an extremely high price around launch, then bring it down gradually over time?
Team Fail said:What about the GBA Wireless adapter? Couldn't the GBA Mode on the DS systems be modified when GBA games are ran to match that of the Wireless Adapter?
I really hope this i the last of the DS line, I have no more money you know.
If they make an upgrade, they'd better make it flipping awesome, like the 3DSX or whatever and have even more 3D graphics, be able to pay and download movies, and have phone capabilities.
Also YouTube.
It depends on what you think major means. That is, im sure you meant Home console. But honestly. But come on now, I don't see what's wrong with comparing it to a home console. This isn't just a handheld, considering all it's features and right now probably the best graphics for a handheld to date. It is also the first 3D gaming console. (if you don't count the virtual boy).
The Wii was priced at $249.99 at release in the US. So the 3DS is essentially at the price of a major console, which is pretty ridiculous. It's a handheld. Although it has 3D and all this other stuff (including the ~fabulous~ region lock), it shouldn't have to scale the price ladder like this, and can you imagine its upgrades? Those prices will be even more outrageous.

It also has all the crap like the docking system, sd card etc..

They just moved the logo on the other side xD It might be a different shape of something. (like wider or taller)
virtual boy looked like a brick with legs and had a library of 22 games that all looked half done. it was also sold as US$180 on release, which is alot for that time.Well, if it has a major price tag like that, then you would expect it to be a home entertainment system as well. But I highly doubt the 3DS can do that, unlike the PS3 and the 360. (I don't count the Wii against them too because it just falls short every time.)
And yes, I live in the UK and we do have to pay more, all the more reason for the point to be proven that it is TOO expensive, as they are trying to push it too much towards being the best thing ever so you have to spend more money on a glorified handheld.
I just don't understand why they have made it SO expensive. And don't say it is because it is the first 3D console, because it isn't. Most people will just not remember the Virtual Boy.
