They make you do community service where you go to school as well? Until now, I was convinced that community service as a graduation requirement was just a United States-only phenomenon.

For the record, I completed my community service hours long ago; I even surpassed the minimum time requirement by a significant number as well.
For me, it's not something we have to do. Most of us do it during PSE, and just go and do something to help out community every Wednesday for an hour, for a certain number of weeks. I'm helping with some low-ability students in my mathematics class. Some people, however, go off to do work experience instead. I wasn't allowed to do that because I've already got a job and completed my three weeks work experience last year.

Lets see. I graduate next year, I need 40 hours, and I have 24... I should probably get on that this summer... after I get back from Europe.

I actually find it funny when someone tries to flaunt their post count our number of years they've been at PC. It's kind of like "So what? You have more time to post than me." or "So what? You found the forum before me." It doesn't mean that they are better, nor does it mean that they know more about PC than I do. Yet, people still do for some reason, and I don't get why. =x For the record, I'm not pointing fingers, I just brought that up in general.

I'm kind of curious to see what would happen if we turned off post count now, though. XD

That's a bummer. You coulda made some dough while doing the community service. =\ Oh well. I'd never be able to help students with math. Well...it all depends on the level i guess. Math is my weakest subject though by far. o.o;;

Haha, i know, but i just have to eat much much candy xD
Well if you want to make yourself sick then that's up to you. XD

Andy always annoyed me the way he'd quote like a bajillion people in one post. But, y'know, someone has to be different. The rest of us can just speed post with two sentences. Sorry, not Jack. He's not included in 'everyone'. He can keep his military-mature reputation.

...so I'm pretty proud I hit the 10k. After 4 years. Hmph. And no one even cared that I hit 4 years.

I'm totally an older member than Andy.
If I bug you with the way I post then I'll be sure to keep doing it, just so you stay annoyed.

Awww, that sucks. Poor Paul didn't get a thread.

And your join date is older by what? 2-4 days? I've spent far more time on PC then you.
But here's some credentials for both of us since you want to be a pain.

Arcanine:
~ 4+ year PC member
~ Has been promoted 4 times
~ Helped the forum in lots of ways
~ Final Staff member from the old PC (discounting Purples, because I tend to say "Staff" as in ones who were Modded)
~ Oldest Staff member on PC
~ First Staff Admin
~ Staff member for almost 4 years (2 months short)
~ Pain in the ass to the members
~ (And for fun) Has over 16000 posts and within the top 3 posters

pokejungle:
~ Is a 4+ year PC member
~ Has been banned
~ Had his forum go anti-PC
~ Got more then a few warnings
~ Was involved in the anti-PC Wiki thing sometime ago
~ Has tried to undermine PC
~ Threatens to leave when something doesn't go his way
~ Pain in the ass to both the members and Staff
~ (Again, for fun) Has over 10000 posts and within the top 10 posters

You're right, you are an older PC member by 2-4 days. And then 2-4 days do make a difference. But the thing is. We might have joined around the same time but our paths are so different.
I tried to help PC, the members, and worked for a better PC. You tried to tear down PC. I got promotions. You got warnings and bans. I'm an SA. You're a normal member.
Now you had the same chance as I did. You could have been Modded, S-Modded and so on. But no, you tried to tear down PC for some odd reason.
You're right, you are a few days older on join date. But you shouldn't look at that as "OMG I'm older then Andy", you should look at it is "We joined at the same time, yet he's at the top of the Staff page and I'm a normal member with a ban on my record that won't try to change my ways or improve myself on PC.". Other members have come off bans or warnings and ended up better members, ones I've given warnings to or told off are now I call a friend. But you, well let's just say we'll see when it comes to Paul ever ever getting any better.

Haha, you guys are kind of amusing.

The people that are ganging up on those who like post count need to realize that acting like bullies is just as low as you accuse Nica of being. There's no reason to needlessly rip on her, it just comes off as stupid and immature.

Let's keep the DCC mature and positive, shall we?
They aren't bullies as you say. Matt and Sammi are just telling Nica how things are. Telling her the truth, saying making tons of posts on a message board isn't going to help her in life is true. If you can't understand that then you might need to take a class in common sense. Because a number on a forum isn't going to get you a job IRL.

And you're one to talk about stupid and immature and telling others to be mature. I think it was stupid and immature to flame Matt when you got that warning, I also think it was stupid and immature when you got a ban on PC, or went anti-PC and so on. Now you're one to talk when it comes to being mature about things. =)

You need to put Nica in her place by keeping the gap between the two of you as wide as possible. In the process, you stand a fairly good chance of breaking 20k and surpassing Jorfe.
Or, I can do what I've always done. Hag the gap wide enough where no one could catch up and then drop off of PC or something. XD
That's how I still have my spot, people come close and if they went on would have taken my spot. But nooooo XD

That's a bummer. You coulda made some dough while doing the community service. =\ Oh well. I'd never be able to help students with math. Well...it all depends on the level i guess. Math is my weakest subject though by far. o.o;;
That wasn't really one of the choices of what I could do, though. XD And I'm okay at math, but what I'm helping people do is really easy, anyway. Anyone could do it.

I'm kind of curious to see what would happen if we turned off post count now, though. XD
You'd get an ear full from the Purples. XD

That sucks. Looks like you'd be able to say "I'm working so there's my hours of community service" (or whatever it is). If having a job is one of them things you should be able to do that. O_o

Disabling post count sounds like an excellent idea for next year's April Fool's prank, though. XD

I seriously think that PC will lose a lot of members if you disable the post count

Nah, people would know it's an April Fool's joke and most people come here because they like Pokemon, want more knowledge of it, and make a lot of friends here. I don't care about post count, and it doesn't determine your rank or place in PC. It doesn't determine whether you're a noob or not. It could mean many useless posts or the occasional double post. So... yeah....

What is this i see here? Lies, all lies. I would stay for the same reason yoshi is. In fact we had a little chat about that when we were IM. I would also like to think that none is so shallow as to just join for posts, if that is what they join for they may as well leave, so the staff can have more DB for other stuff. Like the FC system. Bah humbug.

Your sig looks AWESOME. Couldn't have done it better myself, I'd say. =x
I have but one word to say: Thanks.

But it's boring, and isn't big and flashy and and and stuff.... XD
Obviously subtlety is lost on you, Andrew. All you need is one person to notice and sound the alarm in order for all hell to break loose. XP

Well, the post count is a thing many members care about i think. It seems that way

I'm pretty sure some members care about post counts, but if it were to be disabled, they would still return, not because of post counts but what they get here at PC. They probably do care, but not to the extent in which they will never return unless post counts were re-enabled. That's pretty extreme to go to.

PC did lose post counts before, in June or July last year. Alot of the members were complaining but then everyone settled into that. I dunno about before, but PC wouldn't lose a load of members because of that. As much as people would think I'd leave without post counts, I wouldn't. So if I wouldn't, many others wont either.

In reference to Paul and Andy's rant, eDrama is seductive to the thought, sought much like eye candy. Heh, I'm not going to quote every and any piece of it, since I don't have much of a sweet tooth, today.

I seriously think they won't, cause I'd like to think our members aren't that shallow. =x
One's opinion often differs from reality, but we'll see if that comes into fruition, in good time.

Well, the post count is a thing many members care about i think. It seems that way
Yeah, people like to have a measuring bar, for their popularity. Though, it could balance itself out, in relation to the content of their character.

Even if they aren't shallow, why should they actually post? If the recognition post count offers is taken, that'd just be one more reason for members to talk elsewhere and not on PC. I don't know why you think it might be okay to make PC a little less interesting.

But it's boring, and isn't big and flashy and and and stuff.... XD

Banners don't need to be big and flashy though. To be honest, I like smaller banners that get the point across without fancy effects or pretty shiny stuff in it. It's part of the reason I like Origin's banner (ha, I still won't call some staffers by first name); it's simple yet nice.

I can't stand having a large banner in my sig, and I never will. I just don't like big things in sigs. I'd rather get my point across in a small fashion. x_x;

Even if they aren't shallow, why should they actually post? If the recognition post count offers is taken, that'd just be one more reason for members to talk elsewhere and not on PC. I don't know why you think it might be okay to make PC a little less interesting.

Ask the tons of members at SPPF that posted during that long stretch where they didn't show post count at all. :/ I know, SPPF isn't PC, but if we were to to do the same thing, I'm sure the same principals that kept the members there would apply here.

I think people would still post just because they like it here. Some people really don't care about that stuff. I know I wouldn't be crying if there was no postcount; I'd go on my merry way as I usually do. I might be curious about how many posts I have, but I'd survive.
Besides, there's more people here than on MSN or on some other forums that do have postcount. How can you show off your new hack and have members input on it in a convenient way on MSN or on a small website? How about your sprites? How about if you need help on Pokémon and you can't seem to find it anywhere (or if you're just too lazy)? Where are you going to go? There's not many other large or active Pokémon forums out there.
And what about the members that can't go anywhere else? They have friends they can't contact any other way. They'd have no choice but to stay if they wanted to stay with those friends.

And there's nothing that says that PC will be less interesting without postcount other than some members might leave. Things will probably run the same, especially if the majority of members stay.
