Personally speaking, KDE looks very nice and is very easy to use in my opinion, plus I enjoy customizing the looks 😀 there. I remember that it was consuming around 500-600MB of RAM in my desktop with 3GB RAM.





I do want to learn how to use WMs, but first I need to learn how can I make Polybar look very good. I looked into their guide, but they were very basic intro and I need to know how people make their Polybar look beautiful.

The dotfiles are not giving clarity to my mind, hence copy-pasting from there is not good.

So until then, I need to be content with whatever I could !!

In easier terms, they all are UI of the Desktop, but have different sets of functionality. KDE, or more specifically KDE Plasma is most customizable in terms of look. And it can mimic the looks pretty well.

They are free and open-source, and are usually up-to-date. Even Windows 11 took some of the tricks from their styling.

Plasma is KDE's desktop environment. Simple by default, powerful when needed.

And all others which you mentioned are based on some programming/configuration skills, hence they are more suited to knowledgeable people, whereas the one which I mentioned above is suitable for everyone !!

I wouldn't know about polybar. I use tint2, myself. And even that took me a while to figure out. Have you tried looking it up on the Arch Wiki? It says Arch but it really works for any other Linux distro out there. They're supposedly the best wiki page concerning Linux stuff period.

nope I don't have a keyboard or a mouse, just the laptop with track pad and the keyboard attached to it.

For navigation it's probably not too bad... drawing with it though... I don't think I'd be able to. I already get shaky lines with a mouse xD

I don't like using the touchpad on laptops. I guess they're better than these trackpoints some laptops have. I think I saw somewhere a discussion that certain touchpads are supposedly better than using the mouse. The only thing I could see myself using is probably my graphics tablet with also has this touchpad feature you can turn on or off. It is a lot bigger though. So, it's probably easier to control.

They are helpful if you want to make good looking lines. Without one I would probably take forever to get anything done. ^^"
If you ever decide to get one then you'll probably still be better off geting one of the cheaper ones; especially if you want one of those without a display.

Also, wacom seems to be somewhat of a scam nowadays.

I could already make cleaner lines if I wanted to by just using the line tool over my own lines (like in a new layer and then remove my own lines). But that doesn't feel like drawing to me so I just don't xD
Drawing my shaky lines with a mouse just feels better, actually makes me feel like I'm drawing something =D

Anyway, I'm content with my mouse drawings, so I don't see a need to get a tablet =P

also TIL Wacom is a tablet brand apparently...
