IT'S A SIIIIIIIGN

I don't know what it's a sign of. BUT IT IS ONE.

/seriously should make that her personal emblem.

Namco is already messed up with it's... import-selection-discrimination :/ Oh well.. I used to want to create japanese-type games.. but the gaming industry is SO bad in Japan that no wonder they have a crazy grudge against the Americas.

Exactly. :/ It's sad!!!
But the only thing we can do is make our own, better games!

They're not exactly better imo. Japan is only getting worse games because they're trying to add Western elements in their games.

"Western Elements" such as.....?

Derozio: That's good because then you can follow along.. unless you meant "anything" instead of "nothing."

Idk why I wrote 'nothing' there instead of 'anything', really. XD;
But I think what I meant to say was pretty obvious. So yeah, didn't really matter much in the end. XD;

Fast paced action, extreme linearity, realistic settings, and strangely enough sandbox elements as well. I'd say crappy storylines as well, but honestly, storylines in JRPGs have been declining for a while.

Let's take Final Fantasy XIII. The battles are thrilling and the paths are extremely narrow for most of the game but then it dumps you on this huge open field with missions that you can achieve, which iirc does nothing for the main game. Now, fast paced action is a good thing, but it's hard to make it good in JRPGs. The only way FFXIII could be trying to copy WRPGs more is if they had space marines.

I play JRPGs so I can see unique environments and character development, not 40 year old space marines that fight against aliens in gray bleak environments.(Yes, I know I'm generalizing, but this is what seems to be the case right now.)

I can understand what you mean besides the Final Fantasy.. since I haven't played it..

But in retrospect, have games like "Gears of War" and "Halo" not been successful? What about the new StarCraft? Or a lot of new Blizzard stuff? What about that "Milo" game being produced by the guy from LionHead Studios?
It's a different audience they market to, and just because it's not your taste doesn't mean that it should be thrown out the window.

The Japanese gaming industry releases hits and flops just like the American companies do. I think they're struggling with trying to find something new- and using American games as inspiration. I don't think that's a bad thing, since Kingdom Hearts was such a huge hit, but I just think they gotta try completely innovative things.

I don't think you should sell the American companies so short.. or blame them for the "recent decline in JRPGs," either.. but.. I guess that's just my thought on the matter.

Some companies might've thought "Hell Gears of War backgrounds are realistic.. and it's popular.. so that means we gotta have it so we can sell more."
:/ And unfortunately.. that comes down to marketing..

>>;; Why else would they make a tinkerbell game for the ipad? What sort of 7-year old is going to have access to their mommy's ipad to smash, tilt, tumble, and scratch?
Thank you, Marketing.
