Don't worry, we're still all GAR over him.

So, with only 8 days to go, I shall post about my journey from hating B/W from one image to being really excited.

Think back to about February 2010. Back ages ago when a new game was announced. In Pokemon General there was a thread discussing generation 5, which I posted in to disagree with opinions or something of that sort. Anyways, it was an exciting thread, because it had all the information. Initially, when everyone was getting into the B/W mood, with gameplay released, and screenshots, and even the two legendaries, I thought both games would suck because I'm quick to judge. I remember thinking, and even saying, that I won't be brainwashed and I won't buy either Black or White. This was before the B/W section was made, and before everyone got really excited. I didn't spend time around DPPT when the pre-release period was around for those games, so I didn't really know how exciting it could really be. I remember that day B/W forum was made, May 16, cause there was a rush of posts. Not too long ago, the starters were officially announced, leaving the announced Pokemon as Reshiram, Zekrom, Zoroark, Zorua, "Pokabu", "Mijumaru" and "Tsutaaja". I remember when more information about the two legendaries was announced and I really thought they were such a big joke. And when it came to the starters I thought they were all stupid, and I remember soon after that making the blog claiming I'd not get the gen 5 games, as mentioned, where everyone said "yeah right you'll take it back" and in 8 days, well, I'd have broken that promise I made in that blog.

But anyway, I remember the B/W forum was full of a lot of spam, and due to other things being around then, it seemed appropriate for me to report that spam rather than do other things. I recall I tried making some really useless threads there, so I kinda got put off from making threads there, and stuck to making threads in OVP, while still reporting in B/W. Then about midway through June, "Chiramii", "Mamepato", "Shimama" "Gear" and Gigalith's Japanese name were announced. That was probably the first time I remember that I got excited about B/W Pokemon. For one, I thought Mamepato was a budgie at first so I liked it, and well, Chiramii was adorable and Shimama was cute too. From those impressions alone, I realised that there would probably be a lot more awesome Pokemon to come. So at that point I actually got interested in B/W, paying attention to the new information and from then on, becoming more involved. At that point, Erica also made a thread index, which I updated a few times for her, and I used it to report all the time, which is something I miss now, because---okay I'll cover that later.

Anyways, it was really good times back then. I enjoyed looking at all the different threads, all the different posts, especially "where is Isshu", which was made despite all other "where is Isshu" type threads being locked, but this one... got really active. At that point I didn't really care what it was based on, just as long as it existed. Then the rumours thread came along, and it was one of the best threads ever. Not just because it was rumours based, but it covered everything and seemed to be a cover-all type thing for B/W and past generations either. It meant it often went off-topic, but it eventually returned to new rumours, most of which, didn't come true. However! That didn't make the thread any less memorable. Funnily enough only two others stand out from that thread, which were Astinus and Derk in my mind. The rest I can barely even remember now. And as more B/W information got released, the more I got excited. So excited that I even decided to develop a PC style – however back then, was nowhere near PC's standards. I'm actually glad the forum I was using back then died, because it meant I could pick it up again in the future to make it even better which is due for release in two days.

AND BACK TO July-ish. So yeah, July in B/W was pretty awesome, though around that time Jake posted there more often which meant he even put up a notice telling me not to report. But on the plus side it made me want to report more because he didn't want me to. Plus Erica said I could. One of the major days was August 7th, when a rumoured Pokemon next to Darumaka was seen. None of us wanted to believe it, so we spent a lot of time there discussing it and how we thought it was the worst Pokemon ever. Probably most active I'd been in the section since I got interested. Then funnily the next day I got modded there. It was really different to what I'd ever have expected at first, but after a while I got used to it, eventually making rules there, well, guidelines towards the end of August. Then that was about the time when people were asking me about threads they could make upon the release, which was said to be really active, when really it wasn't. But what matters is that someone gave me the idea for In-Game Help and Translations, eventually known as Simple Questions. But the good thing is that on the release date Kaori got modded there so I at least had a partner so we could prepare for the English release.

As more information came out, I tried to avoid spoilers, eventually just skim reading certain threads to avoid the spoilers. The Pokemon that came out a few days before the 18th, I didn't mind. At first I kind of hated a lot of them, but not long after I realised how awesome they were. I remember my favourites being Galvantula and Joltik as soon as they were released properly, whereas for Swanna and Deerling, back when seasons and other sorts of things were announced, I was interested in them. But anyways, before the release, there was the drama over whether Emboar, Servine and Samurott were actually the starter evolutions, which went on for a few days and was actually true! Now, skipping ahead to November, when Tepig, Snivy and Oshawott were announced. I remember that morning, a great portion of people didn't really like the names but at that point we realised that the release would be soon. That day we also learnt Isshu = Unova, which everyone, including myself, didn't like at first. In December we also hosted Christmas in Unova, as well as weekly polls from September-ish onwards. But then as the time went by, we discovered more names and by January, we found out the UK, which was announced as first to be released, the US and the Australian release dates. All we had to do is wait until March. Now, here we are. 8 days away for Australia, 2 for UK and 4 for US. It's been a long time coming, but soon it'll finally be here.

(I skipped a few parts, but overall so exciting)
