In high school, we had four classes that were an hour and twenty-five minutes each and a 35-minute lunch break. We started at 8:55 and ended at 2:55. We had two semesters in our school year and four classes per semester. In grade 12 we could choose to have a spare during one or both of our semesters (I took a spare during both, hahaha) which meant an hour and twenty-five minutes (or more if you had a spare over the lunch periods - over two hours, baby!) of free time. :D

As much as I don't miss high school, I really did like the way our schedule was laid out.

I prefer early start. Like mine starts at 7:30 (no earlier then that please xD)
We have 6 classes. 50mins each with a 30 min lunch

Hmm...MY school week?

Here it is.

8:30 AM - 2:30 PM Mondays
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Tuesdays and Fridays
1:30 PM - 4:00 PM (this is social justice day) Wednesdays
8:30 AM - 1:30 PM Thursdays

9AM start for me and i'm supposed to finish 3:12PM, but it really depends on if I have free periods at the end of the day, which means I can go home early.

But I do know one school in Melbourne listened to Scientists when they said that Teenagers go to sleep 2 hours later then the average person because of a biological makeup, so they get to start at 11, but they finish at 5.

That doesn't sound too bad, actually. I'd actually get some sleep if we did that. XD

Yeah, like brane says, that theory is supported by a lot of scientists. Teenagers' circadian rhythms are developing into those of full adults, so they feel the need to stay up later suddenly. Yet because their bodies are still growing, they need almost the same amount of sleep that a child does. So whereas a child's natural sleeping time might be 8pm-7am, a teenager's body wants them to sleep from 11pm-10am. But school days can't account for this - teenagers find it difficult to go to sleep early, and as such they don't get the sleep they need.

All schools should run from 11-5 imo. That makes allowances for teenagers' metabolisms and sleep patterns, while still allowing them to keep roughly the same number of hours in class.

I could have gone into detail too you know :P But yea, that just about sums it all up.

The big issue with that is that wouldn't Teenagers then get use to going to sleep later, and wouldn't that push the circadian rythym back further and make us repeat the process? That's what I think anyhow.

11 to 5 sounds good to me. I mean, I don't get into the morning crash on the way to school... but then again, I'll be crushed on the way home. Ehhh.

My school goes from 8:50 to 3:15, although it's 2:30 on Wednesdays due to sport.

11 to 5 would kill me. I have an energy crash around 4:30-5:00 so I would just pass out at that time. Plus the morning is when I have most energy to learn.

Well I don't think that, it would mean you'd be having breakfast, and your afternoon meals later so really you'd be crashing at around 6:30-7PM :P

That is still when I crash all the time, even during the holidays. Being already up for 5-6 hours already before school would mean I am already 2-3 hours more tired.

Stupid insomnia, I can't sleep and right now is the 4:50 am, here in Mexico :S
I doubt it's insomnia.. but eh..
Happens to me when I have a messed up sleeping routine. I think I've gone to bed around 6 AM once. Just try getting through a day without any sleep or little sleep, and go to bed early the following day. P:

But that's what I'm saying, Vaporeon. You go to sleep at 11 pm and wake up at 9:30-10 am in order to be at school for 11 am. It just pushes everything round a bit more, and you get your sleep and your six hours of school.

First thing I need to say is that I go to sleep at 11:00pm-12:00am and wake up at 6:00am anyway. So I would still be tired. I respect your opinion, I just don't share it.
