Well, she tried around a billion dresses and she went to about 10 different stores, which wasted about 8 hours of my life. D:

ehh, I'm a bit self-conscious.... D:

1) Now that is fail lol. I remember when I was a kid, my mum would take me shopping for like three hours and that was too much for me to handle.

2) I used to be, but now I'm just like, "yeah whatever, what you gonna do son?"

I didn't even go to my prom. Both of them. I think I stayed home and played video games, or something.

I stayed home for my senior prom. I went to a friend's house and we alternated Colossi on Shadow of the Colossus until we beat it. Turns out that that friend was kind of coming out of the closet at that time, so......some people thought I didn't go for other reasons :p My girlfriend was away at college and couldn't make it and I didn't want to invite someone else on short notice XD

Gahh, I hated when my mom would do that ;;

I used to be like that, but as I got 'nicer' I became self conscious D:

I went to one, and my friends ditched me to go smoke. They're way overblown and just not worth it.

They suck. My junior year I pitched in $100 on a limo, ate a terrible meal at an overpriced restaurant, danced, paid for overpriced photos, then got taken to a bowling alley afterward instead of somewhere...y'know...a little more private.

Just stay at home, order a pizza, and rent a movie! Can't go wrong that way.

Hurray, we're in the same boat (or were)!

I think I was the only one in my senior year who didn't go. No one understood why, but I didn't see the point. To be perfectly honest, I'd rather use that prom money for more important things, like cosplay. :D

Even I went to both my proms. Speaking of which, my university Summer Ball is this Saturday, which I'll be attending.

At my college prom, I did a little set up with the head boy. We both did Physics so in one of our lessons, I arranged it so that I would give a little surprise speech to my peers. Only a small handful of people knew in advance.

So he calls my name, I walk up on stage and look to my peers. I begin my speech, which I have remembered off by heart to this very day.

"Attention collegues."

Now for some reason, the audience burst into laughter. I think it was the tone in which I said it in or something, but yeah, it threw me off for a split moment. Fortunately I recovered quickly.

"We have gathered here tonight for one reason. To celebrate the end of our college education. Many obsticles have swarmed us . . . From the Darkest abyss."

I get some more genuine laughter, which spurs me on.

"We rose against these challenges. We vanquished our opponents! Now . . . We . . . REIGN SUPREEEEEEEME!

A fairly long pause to let it sink in before my conclusion.

"I have one last thing to say to all of you. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours, whatever they may be. Thank you."

I bow and the room erupts into cheer. I outstaged the vice principle's speech, which was pretty genius. Everyone seemed to enjoy my speech and a couple of people complimented me on it too. Damn good times . . .

I...probably would not use the money on cosplay, but I pretty much got to go for free, so all it was for me was a bad memory. XD

I am so glad nothing like that happened on my end of things. All of that would just seem like a terrible waste of money in retrospect and I'm not sure I could live with that and not want to kick myself in the face. XD

Even now, that sounds like a pretty awesome night, I must try that one day.

Should have just found a nice suit and tie. Not enough women know the joys of formalwear.
:( I really, really wanted to but my mom refused and insisted I wear a dress. (And also insisted I go, since I had no interest in going to any of the dances/formals/proms at my school.)

I actually cosplayed to a school dance once. Made a Team Rocket costume. Amazingly none of the kids there understood it except for a German exchange student who was freaking out in amazement XD

mmmmmmmm, the idea of a cosplay prom sounds so awesome. I am just nerdy enough to be willing to participate in something like that. I've still never been to an anime con, for all I know they actually do stuff like that there.

Yeah I regretted all of it XP Could have put that cash toward so much more stuff that would have made me infinitely happier. I should have just blown all my money at the Barnes & Noble that was next to the restaurant we ate at XD (I did buy a volume of Vision of Escaflowne that got cocktail sauce all over it when the bag I was keeping my leftovers in ripped open <_<)

I'm not going to go to my Junior year prom, I might for Senior year, but idk right now.

I went to both my homecomings so far. I was forced to go to both by my friends, and they said it would make me feel better. But yea, I only felt worse. :/

Does this work for anyone else?

Ooh I would much rather have spent the money on books. I would rather have spent that entire night at a book store than have to go to a prom and...well, I've had that happen to me many times. I've lost many a great novel to duck sauce at Chinese places.

My junior prom night was OK. I wasn't even sure if I was going to go as I was pretty antisocial back then (kinda still am now, but it's not as bad as it once was).

Senior prom was pretty good though. I felt like a champion after that speech and was energetic pretty much all night.

You should see how much I spent on books this year. Somewhere close to $500, and I'm in need of a new book case. Just started buying manga as well.

Good grief lad, it's called a Library!

I rarely spend money on books. I've been on a reading kick all year but almost all the books have come from the library. I only buy a book if I know I'm gonna read it again and again and again.

I...wish I was like this, but sadly I am not. I think I've managed to buy somewhere around 50 books this year alone. XD

I...envy you. I've spent maybe $100 on books. XD

Do you get them from like, secondhand shops at least? D: I can't imagine paying cover price for 50 books in 5 months lmao

edit: Okay you must if you've only spent $100 lol

Ahh Kaga, you should visit an anime con one day! It's very fun, especially if you love anime (obviously). A cosplay prom sounds absolutely amazing. There is something similar at some conventions, like a masquerade ball or something. I'm going to one in New Jersey in a few weeks! Definitely should go sometimes, though, if not only for the experience. =3

Anime cons! There's one coming up in a few days for me. Not that I'm a huge anime fan anymore but I still like going to a con or two every year.

I don't really like libraries. You don't know what people did with those books and a lot of the good ones are always checked out. :x
My library system is excellent. You can request things online and it'll show you where you are in the queue, you can have books/DVDs shipped from any of the libraries nearby, etc.

I mean, I guess you don't know what they did with the books but my only guess would be they read them. :s
