YOU'RE NOT A KRATOS FAN ANYMORE WHAT.

It's true that the Abyss cast did blend together more, I guess. I felt it was a bit forced though how they began to like Luke and were willing to go so far for him after he was such a jerk. Well, they all pretty much were a cast of jerks...except for Ion. But Ion died because he wasn't ontop of the whole 'jerk' thing so yeah. Oh, and Tear wasn't either. But...it had it's DEEP THOUGHTS points, but not as often as Symphonia did. Everyone had a backstory you could investigate for a better replay value. You didn't get to know everyone by the end of the first playthrough. With Abyss, you didn't have that 'snow scene' type ordeal like in Symphonia. They characters were kinda seethrough if you ask me about Abyss. You expected all of their movements. With Symphonia, not so much.

I've had a Zelos theme every year except for last year.

I think that you said that on purpose >:(

Just in case you really are that dense, you're thinking about the wrong Kratos.

Pfft, Kratos from TOS is older than Kratos from GoW.
Therefore he is cooler.

If anyone remembers this avatar artifact...you win a cookie.

Good then, I knew you weren't stupid.

I personally found Kratos as the most interesting character in ToS, but I don't remember that much. Genis and Lloyd were just obnoxious most of the game to me, Colette was either extremely happy or really emo, and I just disliked Raine and Sheena as a whole. Sheena is just that stereotypical eye candy character that is in every game these days.

Everyone is shallow when it comes to those two and with good reason. :'(
I even have chat logs demonstrating that. Here are a few examples:

Spoiler:

TOS:
Kratos was tolerable
Disliked Colette because she was typical moe blonde
Genis was a baby
Lloyd was tolerable, I like him when he spoke his words of wisdomz.
Remiel was pimpin'
Yuan was just plain lovable. I mean, EVERYTHING went bad for him. You can't not pity the guy. Mithos was PURE EPIC OMGEE LUV.
Zelos was amazingly well put together. He was truely original in story and personality if you ask me. Sheena was just boobs and teen angst.
Regal was that extra character.
Presea was....I didnt get her storyline till like, third playthough, lol.
Raine was swell :3

Abyss:
Jade- Was cynical; didn't like him much
Luke- was very very very irritating
Asch- ALWAYS GOT THE BAD END OF THE STICK. EVEN NATALIA STARTED GOING FOR LUKE IN THE END. LASFKNDLSNFLDSANFLAFNSLKDA. I PITIED HIM SO MUCH.
Ion- Was too naive to be in a videogame and not die
Anise- I wanted to kill her everytime she spoke.
Natalia- She fought well but was truely a clone of Naussica if you noticed.
Guy- I disliked him; his fear of girls is so stupid and he's too brotherly...it's annoying.
Van- Pedo

I... I dunno. He's cool but Lloyd is just so dorky and I think I like him more. But even more terrifyingly? I think I might like Colette more now. o____<;

But yeah, I can definitely see what you're saying. The Abyss cast was a lot more transparent but even so, you just got to know all of them a lot better. You didn't have to put a million and one tonnes of effort into finding out some of their secrets.

The problem with Symphonia is just... there were 8 (or 9!) party characters depending on how you look at it. To dig up the backstory and plot connected to all of them took such massive effort--you're right, you can't do it in one playthrough. For those who don't have the time to invest in 40ish hours several times to get everyone's Flanoir scenes (which were the culmination of hours of sucking up to the person to get their scenes), you missed out on a lot. D: That and some characters just... got gypped a lot more than others. No matter what way you look at it, Regal and Presea (and to some extent, Genis... probably others) didn't get nearly the same amount of character development as Lloyd, Colette, etc. @_@; They just had too many characters to care about, imo, and while some of them might've been deeper and more interesting in the end, it was just too much. Or something. I have more posts about this in the Tales Fanclub since this was the topic yesterday/today. XD;

Abyss might've had a less interesting (to some, anyway) set of characters but it had time to explore everyone to a good extent during the game so no one was really left out and you didn't HAVE to put in so much extra effort just to find out some important things. I just vastle preferred that.

How can anyone not like Kratos? God of War is one of my fav PS2 games!
I hate him because I suck at his game. >8(

It kept asking me if I wanted to go down to an easier mode because I was failing so hard. I'm pretty sure I'd already been playing on easy. ;_;

Oh right, Presea.
Well, she is definitely not important to me since I don't remember her at all ;-;

Chibi, just thought I should say it, but you're hilarious.

/lol'd about TOS

Lol, I never really liked her and now I just see her as the token loli (since every Tales game needs a loli). :[ I admit I just don't see the appeal since she never... had a personality, lmao. (I mean, no fault of her own, but still.)
It just means you need to try harder ;o;
Yeah well it's hard. ;_; I think it's one of those games I'd rather just... watch someone else play. But my brother has no interest in it and I don't know anyone else who does. :'(

Lol, I can see it now-

"Oh yeah, we need a token loli now."
"We can't think a personality for her though..."
"Hey! Let's just make her not having a personality part of the plot!"
"GREAT IDEA!!"

Thus, Persea.

That... makes her more likable to me, sadly. LMAO that'd be the best reason for her existence ever. Better than retconning the loli into the PS3 port I'm lookin' at you, Vesperia.
