You would not believe how many world maps I've seen (like in cartoons, anime and manga) where New Zealand - a whole country and island in its own right - is not featured. We're the same size(ish) as Britain, folks! Jeez.

I was just thinking the same thing!

There are so many people who think we're a part of Australia it's not funny. D:

Then again, I know Americans who honestly think Canada belongs to the United States, sooooo . . .

Didn't sarah palin think that?

Yeah I understand where your coming from, just because canada is connected to the US some people think it's part of the US.

We're not even connected to Australia, yet people think we're associated.

Little-known fact: The Australian Constitution of 1901 (I think) identifies NZ as the seventh state of Australia. But we never listen, and neither does anyone else.

Do you mean to tell me that we are a sovereign nation?

...

Sweet. o3o;

Speaking of Commonwealths... I completely forgot that Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Virginia are officially called Commonwealths, yet remembered that Massachusetts also was. /slapped for being distracted by that word.

You sure know you history, the seventh state huh? Never knew that.

January 1st, 1901 to be precise~

Didn't know NZ was apart of us though :(

:/ I personally feel bad for all those people who live in and around Virginia and West Virginia.. cause there was a huge blackout over there ://

And Canada rocks cause of our healthcare system :3

I would hate to live there to right now if there was a blackout, what if the whole world was in a blackout for an hour? Think of the madness :0

They've had the blackout since Friday. :/ Don't get all sarcastic on me. I'm worrying about the people who need electricity to do daily deeds like those people who are bed-ridden and need an electronic hoyer-lift to get them up and seated properly in order to eat or bathe :/ Or people with oxygen machines who are living at home.

Plus they've had no hot water either :/ My friend who lives there is lucky cause they have on of those heating stoves.. so his grandma is over keeping warm with them all in the living room.. which is good because the heating at her place is completely dead.. but it's not all fun- they still needed to do stuff like empty out their freezer, pack stuff in coolers, and bury them into the snow otherwise all their food would go bad :/

So yeah :/ a blackout for an hour isn't a big deal.. but like.. seriously, don't sound all snarky when you don't even know the situation :/
Cause when electricity and heating is gone for days.. it can get pretty crappy :/ At least phones are still working there in case of emergencies..

Sorry if I came off a bit sarcastic, I wasn't trying to be either. I actually was in a blackout once so you don't have to tell me how miserable it is. And sorry about your friend as well.

No prob. Sorry I took it the wrong way..

:/ Some people overreact just cause they don't have internet.. which I think is silly. I think blackouts are most miserable because you can't do daily things like cooking or even taking a hot shower..

:/ it can be super annoying..

I remember a few years ago there was a huge blackout here in Toronto.. :/ like for a week or something almost.. and I remember a couple people dying from it.. sooo it sucks..

I've never heard of anyone thinking Canada is part of us...until now. xD

Oh, except some girl in my history class asked out loud one day: "Is England in Massachusetts?".
!_!;
Wow.

Worst "blackout" I've experienced was when I was nine one Halloween.
Ate ALL OF my Rocket's. Woke up roughly two days later in very wet and stinky bed. Had to use the Pepto...

With Edmonton drivers and potholes, I have a few blackouts a year. Usually lasts a few hours. The worst was at work in 2004 when a speeder crashed into a power line.

Nine hours. No power. January in Canada.
