@ KATARA AVATAR IS FULL of EPICNESS <3
Thanks! :D

And about the health care, we definitely hear a lot of bad things about the U.S. system here in Canada. A friend of my dad's was in a minor traffic accident in Alabama, and he was asked if he wanted to get checked out at the hospital. He figured it would be a good idea, so he agreed. Some time later, he got billed $3000 US. O_o

What I really find ironic is how the Americans are using Canada as an example in saying that they shouldn't change their system. This is because a few years ago, some Canadians were proposing to change their system, and others were then using America as an example in saying that we shouldn't change our system. XDDD

My parents don't watch the news, really. Except CNN on the rare occasion - they can't stand Fox at all. The only thing politic-related my mother watches is Bill Maher because he makes everything funny. xD Sometimes I watch it with her.

And I actually enjoy (American) football, even if the name was stolen. I don't understand where 'soccer' came from, but whatever. Football is the only sport I can actually watch and be interested.

As for health care, my mom pretty much said that as it stands now there are people out there that are getting rich off of people's illnesses. Not too sure how accurate that actually is, but that seems to be the gist of things as I hear them...

It is still very violent, and Bush does suck >.>
But of course you expect this, the news ratings would go down the drain if they heard about something as boring as that. There are many insane people in America though. One woman in my city recently suffocated a baby to try to make it shut up. Another person was shot 3 times shortly after she left an ice cream store. You do not get that very often in the U.K or Australia.
Uhhh...would you happen to have Australian news broadcast to your television? And if anything, violence finds a way. In Vietnam, where guns are absolutely illegal, you still get gun-related gang violence. Or even better, they use butcher knifes.

You hear about violent deaths and horrible happenings everywhere in this day and age--don't think it's only an American thing. :( Fear gets people paying attention so newscasters and the like make use of it.

Did you hear about the CNN newscast that was in a Hollywood studio instead of some Middle East Country? O:

On a side note, have any of you heard the theories about Aliens building the Pyramids?

Oh yeah, guns are also illegal in Britain I think. I can only imagine what the police would do if they saw a guy with a gun.
"Quick, throw your nightsticks at them! >:O"

Actually, in Vietnam, we more often use disturbing news from other countries to distract from our own mishaps. Still, we have more than enough spine-tingling stories to cover in a few minutes of the hour. I think the government absolutely may have a hand on the press, but coverage of the federal government is often positive or neutral, rarely negative.

@Samme: Who hasn't? @.@

As in new theories? Because I always thought that aliens had always been a possible explanation for the construction of the pyramids...

There are some cool videos about it all on youtube. I'm not sure if it is new but it sure is awesome. It has really sparked my interest into ancient Egypt and stuff ^^

The United States is nowhere in the top twenty by intentional homicides. If you really want places where you stand a good chance of being shot on sight, try Belize, Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, or Venezuela.

British police forces do have armed response units. The regular officers just call in the guys with the rifles and have them do the deed.

Gun violence may be rare in Great Britain, but stabbings and beatings are all too common. Take away people's guns, they'll start killing each other with knives, sticks, and bare hands.

They will get pummeled if they use anything less than a knife or dagger. Usually, the hard, cold sides of 20 nightsticks hurts more than a fist. And I know that certain forces have guns, because it would be idiotic not to have guns in the military, but I am talking about normal forces.
There must be something wrong with me if I think things like that are implied. :\

yes i've heard the theory about aliens building the pyramids and i dont believe a word of that garbage. seriously, aliens? i mean come on! thats just friggin retarded.
aliens may not exist BUT BIGFOOT DOES EXISIT!!
i know he's out there somewhere........
i mean when you think about it all big foot is is an oversized gorilla.

Guys, I feel flipping cranky and horribly stressed today. x_x I'm just saying that forgive me if I say something wrong; it's not intended, it's just that I have a lot on my mind and I don't really pay attention to what I say sometimes. D:

And I got bored of the news. Constant overexaggeration gets old at some point, y'know.

yeah i know they really do over exaggerate, espcally with the H1N1 virus.
(or swine flu whatever you call it)
it gets really boring. it seems as though in this day and age if you want to be depressed either walk on your bathroom scale or watch the daily news.

I 100% agree with you. Aliens? psh.

But I think that the whole mysteriousness of how they were built and all of that stuff fascinates me :>

Did you hear about the captured chupacabra in Texas? Or the white ET-like akine they found in Canada?

yeah it is interesting how they were built.
but it was probably all of the jewish slaves at the time.
just a guess.

All the Jewish slaves sanny? Sure, slaves were used to build the Pyramids but this was in 2400 BC! Over 4000 years ago! And all the jewish people put to work could not have been enough man power in the least to accomplish what they did. And the salves weren't just Jewish. Africans too.

So what if it was in 2400 B.C?
Rome had amazing technology for its age, but people don't claim that to be made by aliens.
They were most likely slaves, since I don't see why aliens would go to all of that trouble with the hieroglyphs and such.

I wasn't saying I believed that the Aliens made them you know. I was just saying that the theories are pretty interesting. And the Roman Empire began around 30 BC, 1,700 years later..

The theory sounds far fetched when it includes aliens that have already visited us, even though the Roswell is an interesting incident that was poorly covered up by the U.S government.

So what if Rome began then?
In case you don't know, the Dark Ages did a real number on scientific advancement. To really know, look at this chart.
[PokeCommunity.com] The Daily-Chit Chat of 09'

Shouldn't Medieval Europe be more advanced in science and technology since it came later than Rome? Well, no because the church didn't allow doing autopsies on corpses, and destroyed huge libraries brimmed with information, but that is beyond the point.
