Well, even if iTunes had lost track of the files, the songs would still be there. Except when he tried to play them, the little exclamation mark would appear at the far left of the song...

I think. That's my experience with iTunes.

That happens to me all the time, but this isn't what happened. My songs are like, literally gone. Not there. Empty music folder. It's easy fixing the little exclamation mark.

Looks like you would have to download all them again~

Legitimate ownership is a pretty big thing... which is why I dislike the trend of things that used to have physical versions going completely digital, like with music, games, books, and magazines.

I buy them. x3 I used Limewire (actually, it was Frostwire...) for a time, but then my conscience ate me out. I deleted all traces of it as well as all of the songs I got from it...

*shrugs* I only buy them with iTunes cards I get for gifts, so it's not like I'm spending money. xD

When you said backdoor I was thinking of how LimeWire puts your downloaded files again as a source when you download them... at least that's what I read before uninstalling it. xP

... But yeah. You get my point. xDD

And until recently, I bought all my music legally, whether from the iTunes store or physical CD retailers. Then I started downloading stuff off the net.

But now, NZ is bringing in a law that will let the government fine people who download music illegally. So back to buying them, I guess. Either that, or find a loophole.

The U.S. is doing the same thing, and they're tracking everything. It's scary, I don't want to get caught. I buy all my music now in CD form, because I like to have a physical copy. :3
