...like I was saying...context can point to the specific meaning that the writer intended. Assuming the worst possible meaning is seldom productive.
 
Maybe we could just, you know, not make sexual harassment jokes so as not to even approach the possibility of offending someone. Just saying. :|

No one was joking in my view. It was merely mentioned in passing, though you're free to interpret the post in question your own way and act accordingly. :p

I completely agree with this. Even with most teenage boys, sexual harassment can be a very touchy subject :/
 
That's not even a valid point. :( There's a ton of teens on PC but that doesn't make it okay to talk about certain things.

I'd say "there's a time and a place for everything" but I can't even think of any situation, online or offline, where jokes like that are appropriate. :/
 
Well Erica, there are always redneck jokes.
Most people (as far as I know) have twisted senses of humor.

I mean that, teenage boys, being as horny as we all know we are, will make a sexual comment every now and then. It just wont stop.

Now, that's different from randomly commenting on Erica's photo saying nasty stuff. That is unacceptable. D:

The whole topic, I believe, was started as a joke.. which could've gone over well if it was ignored, but I guess I felt like such a serious topic really shouldn't be joked about, which is why I brought up that exact point.

And yet again I agree with Lightning and I reiterate the fact that Sexual Harassment should not be joked about and it's not okay to talk about such things unless spoken about in a respectable manner to everyone.

Little Monster: That's really understandable.. (and yeah in this case I do mean expected, reasonable, normal, natural, etc) but sexual comments and sexual harassment are totally different things..

I'd just like to note that the majority of the people I know on PC... are extremely perverted.
 
Well, all people who know of the reproductive process are perverted. The question is, how much control do they have and how often do they show it?

If you don't like that atmosphere then perhaps you could branch off and get to know more people on PC that aren't affiliated with the majority of people you know. Not saying anything is wrong with the people you know and perverseness, but as I said before.. perverseness and sexual comments are much different than sexual harassment.

Lightning and I both knew a good friend of ours that was sexually harassed and perhaps this very comment will make a lot of you realize that it's really not a joke, and it's not some sort of unspoken myth. It happens to people who deserve it the least and it happens not as rarely as people may think and people's feelings about this topic should REALLY be respected.
 
Well, then lemme say this: it's one thing to joke about this sort of thing in the company of just your own friends, where you know the limits of who's going to be offended and who isn't, and another altogether to do it in public. I'll admit I've made pleeenty of jokes in that category before. Probably even tonight while making dinner. Does that make it okay to go out in public (ie, here in the DCC where anyone can view it) and do the same? No, not really. :( Time and a place, guys.

I don't think you'd get away with making jokes like that at school or something and be able to use the "but we're horny teenagers!" excuse.

Well, I personally lack very little self control. I know this because when I am happy, I get so hyper I look like I am having a seizure in my seat. I'm not even over-exaggerating either. :[
