You're also aware that the H1N1 vaccine isn't the only that can give neurological impairments?

Dude, guys, all flu vaccines (even the normal one) have a chance of giving you... whatever that ailment is. I forget what it's called. It's also, iirc, usually temporary. :/

Anyway, I got the H1N1 vaccine back in December. The needle itself was one of the easier ones I've had but maaaan did my arm ache the day after. D: Took a while for the vaccine to circulate out of my arm, I guess. I couldn't lift my arm very high all week.

Guillain-Barré syndrome simply causes paralysis, not permanent brain damage that impairs forward movement (a rather freakish occurence that I doubt has anything to do with the vaccine directly, but whatever), which is what these people are talking about.

As for myself, I haven't been vaccinated for either H1N1 or seasonal influenza, despite being in a risk group for those diseases (in my case, I'm asthmatic).

I haven't gotten either of them, though I should have. H1N1 scares me to death XD;
But really, it's worth the slight risk. Other medicines have worse side effects than that. XD; and greater changes. XD;

Not true, the H1N1 vaccine (shot) is the inactive (dead) virus, you cant get sick off of inactive viruses. The nasal spray however, has the living one in it.

But most flu shots do have the living virus in them.

I haven't gotten any flu vaccine before. :/ Not because I am afraid, because my mom thinks they are useless. Yes, she has received her sign.

I haven't gotten flu shots .. ever XD;
Which is okay with me, because I don't really like needles. ~_~;
They're just so.. D:

Then you can't do IVF to get twins with Matt. :<

THERE GOES YOUR DREAM OF A DUET SUPERSTAR DUO ERIK.

...I don't mind needles at all. oO;

Like I haven't ever been freaked by them.

Well, my phobia isn't strong - I mean, I've had an IV several times, but I mean . . the entire concept of just something going into you like that just really kind of alarms me.
But, when it's necessary, like in the case of an IV or a shot that's actually mandatory/good [tetatnus hay hay], I swallow my anxieties and just think for the greater good.
But, I suppose many don't really like needles - it's just a common anxiety instilled in one from a young age because it's associated with pain and sickness/hospitals. :[~

Lol... The H1N1 shot is a joke... I've never taken the flu shots at all, and never will, and likewise have never gotten sick with the flu.

Talking about phobias, I can't say I have a debilitating fear, but I do not like not being able to move (something akin to fear of enclosed spaces).

Yeah only the weak die to the H1N1 Virus...no thats mean. I am sorry but its just silly. People go into a panic about this whole swine flu thing and then the news says theres not going to be enough yet i see it all over the place. I am sure the worst is over and the only reason why people die from this is because they were either of low resources or didn't heed the warnings.

On that note i miss being in class..ughh!!

I don't take the regular flu shot either. I'm not its target age group. And if I were to get it, it wouldn't be as harmful as it would be to others.

But with the swine flu, it doesn't discriminate. In fact, my age group is the a risk group (not specifically, but it aims younger than the regular flu). SO, better safe then sorry.

I did get the seasonal flu vaccine, but not the H1N1 vaccine... probably because it's been slow to reach around here (and it seriously has taken its sweet time proliferating in my state). I do have a great immune system, though, so my mother probably doesn't think I really need it unless there's a case reported in a nearby town.

EDIT: Feign, the deaths in the United States from H1N1 have largely been in those under 65, because it was likely similar to a strain of the seasonal flu circulating around 50-60 years ago.

I'm unfortunantly FORCED to get the shot

my mom was making a really big deal out of the swine flu shot, I still think it was stupid she panicked that much, well come to think of it most people did..even way after it wasnt really big anymore

ah okay...

The interesting thing too was that Americans got the nasal live virus form of the vaccine, while Canadians got the needle version of the dead virus. Apprearantly, because it is dead, one would get less negative symptoms and develop the same immunity as the nasal kind.

That whole same immunity thing is because of how antibodies react to foreign objects in the blood. Even if it's a dead virus, it's still a foreign body that has the same shape as the live one. And the whole less negative symptoms thing makes sense because it's the dead form.

And you have a spelling error in that post. ;) /needs to not let it bug him so much
