Windows Vista takes up the same amount usually.

And both are very stable operating systems, especially Windows 7, which is surprisingly stable for a first release of an OS.

I hate Vista, with a passion. :|

I just learned that 1/5 of Americans think Obama is a Muslim. Which of course means, 1/5 of Americans are stupid bigots because they think religion is actually a factor in how well he does.

What soured you on it? The fact that you had a crappy machine for it? It actually needs fewer resources than Windows 7, it's just not as good at resource management because it's an older OS, and 2 GB of RAM was top of the line when Vista debuted, plus dual cores were brand-spanking new, and hard to find. Nowadays such a machine can be obtained for cheap. Most machines that came with Vista actually barely met the recommended requirements for it. D; And if it's the whole driver-related fiasco at the beginning, that's long been fixed. I'd take Vista over XP any day.

And I sent a link to that article on MSN to my grandmother, who thinks that he is the Antichrist. Old people are easily riled up and are all kinda racist at heart, even if they don't wanna admit it. D;

I just hate the way it looks. :x

I think it's a half-step between XP and 7. It's actually very sleek and modern in design. I like its design a lot better than XP's. Especially the Start Menu, with it's hybrid search/run bar. The only thing that annoys me is that the menu bar is hidden by default in both 7 and Vista when viewing folders.

Vista used 50% of my RAM, while 7 uses only 30% of my RAM. How it is possible? I don't have any single idea.

Better built-in resource management, plus different features might be enabled/disabled, and then there's the whole matter of how much bloatware is on that computer, and whether it's still the same computer or one with identical hardware.

Positive. It is the same. My laptop had a Vista and now has 7.

Anyway, for me It's just looking better, going faster and my laptop does not heat up too quickly.

+ I did everything to increase the performance. Everything except some good-looking, non-draining visual effects.

Performance > Visual look imho.

@Pokestick, good times.
Cucumber soup + potato pancakes - very popular in my country.

Hamburgers and tortilla chips. More of a light snack/leftovers thing we have at home.

And XP has worked fine for me so far... I've actually gotten surprisingly few BSOD's with it. Biggest problem has been with Firefox crashing randomly:/

I haven't eaten since I got home, i'm vurrrrry hungry ):

Oh, and with regards to the technobabble: I'm using XP and have had no problems with it.

My 5 minute kip turned into a 5 hour slumber, owned.

I'm not too techy with PCs, I have Vista though. I was meant to get a free upgrade to 7 but you couldn't pay with a debit card, only a credit card, which I don't have.

I bought an expensive computer thinking I might play PC games again but all I use it for is Twitter, Playstation forums and now this! Could've just bought a laptop and saved myself some much needed money, lol.

EDIT:

Netto Azure, I assume you're American?

If so

Here's a good, cheap one:

I find Dell';s computers to be pretty good, so here's one of theirs (direct from them) that's a bit more expensive. Though you can customize it too:

Yeah shopping online's always cheaper when buying more expensive items as there's no rent to pay for having a physical shop, paying staff etc. leading to a reduction in prices.

The only downfall is if it breaks you have to phone the company/shop up and that can take a while as well as being quite stressful:

"Press 1 if you have a desktop"

5 seconds later

"Press 2 if you have a laptop"

Then you have that awful elevator music playing when you're put on hold.

In the U.K it's so much more expensive, what may cost $299 will be converted to £299. I want to move to America.
