1st Gen The Fighting Dojo! Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee?

When you enter Saffron City, you might notice there are two gyms! One is the Saffron City's official Psychic Gym, while the other is a neat little Fighting Dojo:

You fight off against all of the BLACK BELT trainers, eventually facing off against their master. When you defeat him, you get to choose between Hitmonlee, and Hitmonchan. Hitmonchan is more defensive while specializing in punching moves, while Hitmonlee is more offensive specializing in kicking moves.

Which one did you choose? Or if you were to choose now, which one would you choose and why?

I think I chose Hitmonlee last time I played Leafgreen. but I honestly don't remember it's been so long. Of the two, though, I've always preferred Hitmonchan. I like punching move better, I just don't usually seem to choose it. If I play the gen I games, I'd probably still pick Hitmonlee, though, even though I prefer Hitmonchan, I don't know why, I just always prefer choosing the opposite over the one I like better.

As a kid, I used to pick Hitmonchan even though I never used it. But it's one of those things where, 20 years later, I did a complete 180 degrees turn. Hitmonlee became my favourite of the two, although I still don't use it once I pick it up. I simple came to appreciate its design and dislike Hitmonchan.

In any case, fighting-types are probably the type I use the least. And in the rare instances where I do, I tend to use Primeape.

I chose Hitmonlee in Blue cause...idk, and I gave it a nickname but I never used it. Cool 'mon though.
